1618806 tn?1304734477 d say just stay away from potassium supplements or salt substitutes like Mrs. Dash and you will probably be ok. If you start having muscle cramps though, it could be a sign that your potassium is too high. If that happens, go to the doctor and they will do bloodwork to test your levels. Hope that helps!
Avatar m tn It also seems to make clear that the type of potassium salt you are taking (chloride, citrate, gluconate, acetate, bicarbonate, etc) does not matter. The only thing that counts is the amount of actual (elemental) potassium you are ingesting. For instance we take 595mg tablets of potassium gluconate containing 99mg of elemental potassium. This means that if I am willing to take 20 of these cheap little pills a day to get my 2000mg (2g) of potassium that is just fine.
Avatar n tn THANK YOU I will STOP taking the potassium and putting salt in my water. I have some good quality sea salt from a health food store. I was wondering why I starting having muscle spasms again!
Avatar f tn Magnesium Chloride is actually ocean water where the salt has been removed. It will be a little sticky , feels like you were in the ocean.. depends on the brand . I have gotten used to it. Amazon has it and read the reviews. Good luck in your search for health.

Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the info.! It helps me quite a bit. I had no idea about the tab water vs. mineral water. I never paid attention to sodium content before my DX and now that I have to it has been quite the life style change. Thanks again for the tips... I start trying them out ASAP!
Avatar n tn Liberal use of salt substitutes that contain potassium chloride can add to the potassium load. Liberal use of these products in people with kidney disease can cause dangerously high levels of potassium to build in the bloodstream.
Avatar n tn Where do you live? Bronchosaline for as you described is no longerr available in the US. I was told by a phamacist to make my own - 1/4 tsp salt (I use picling salt without iodine) and 8 oz of water. If you use the metric system I don't know the conversions but could look them up and tell them to you if you would like. I mix a fresh batch every time I am going ot use it. Take care.
Avatar m tn Also buy the salt substitute potassium chloride. Try this it could take a few months to see an improvement.

487969 tn?1249313291 tornado warnings are all around me and the sirens are blaring for us to take cover but I have to know - how much unrefined seasalt in how much water helps the salt cravings? And how in the world can salt water help with bloating? I am so happy that I may have found answers to that darn salt craving. I never knew it was related to my thyroid. Does low thyroid cause bloating, or is it the salt? WooHoo! (I'm doing a cartwheel and, believe me, it isn't a pretty sight!
