Avatar n tn A 77-year-old woman who developed a 2-fold increase in INR while receiving APAP with concomitant acenocoumarol (8), and a 74-year-old man experienced a 3-fold increase in INR when APAP was added to his stable warfarin regimen (6). Fluindione has also been implicated in this interaction (9). In a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial 36 patients received either APAP 2 g daily, 4 g daily, or placebo for 4 weeks.
Avatar n tn You should contact your caregiver for advice regarding your medication as they would have your medical history, general health, etc. There is a noted drug interaction with Viagra and warfarin in certain patients. In patients who have pulmonary hypertension, there is an increased risk of bleeding when taking these medications together, etc.. Thanks for your question, take care.
Avatar m tn Pradaxa is taken twice a day, shorter life in the body and is cleared from the body quicker than coumadin (warfarin). With warfarin, Vitamin K is used to reverse overanticoagulation in patients, there is no antidote for Pradaxa. Warfarin a lot cheaper than Pradaxa. Good luck with your ablation. Hope you do well on Pradaxa! Best wishes!!
Avatar n tn Great site! I've bookmarked it for future reference. Thanks for the information.
Avatar n tn To date there have been no reports of an important interaction in humans between warfarin and clopidogrel. Nonetheless, because warfarin increases the risk of bleeding, blood tests to measure the degree to which the blood is anti-coagulated or thinned (prothrombin time; INR) may be ordered to assess the degree of blood-thinning when warfarin and clopidogrel are used together.
475555 tn?1469304339 I found this RX checker to see if I could find an antibiotic. I remember taking Keflex for a tooth problem. While the checker said no interaction it also said to check with your doctor or pharmacy, I also checked penicillin there was no interaction noted. http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=564-285,3502-16373,3504-16376 If I were you I would call the pharmacy. They seem to obtain the interactions sooner than the doctors. At least in my case that was how it happened.
612551 tn?1450022175 I am a long time user of Warfarin anticoagulant because of my AFib condition. The generic Warfarin cost about $10 (Walmart for example) for a 90 supply. My wife recently had major surgery to remove cancerous organs and is required to take a daily anticoagulant for 30 days. In her case it is injected by syringe and each Cost about $50, throw away devices. That a whopping $1,500 for 30 days.
Avatar f tn Dx was hematuria. One Diflucan was administered and 7 or 10 days of Keflex (I forget which) and sent home w/instructions to continue current medications. Family doctor referred for cystoscopy which was also negative. Urine cleared visibly for a few days and then returned, some episdoes darker than others but never enough to cloud visibility of bottom of bowl. Still no other symptoms. Still always old blood (brown not red or pink).
1464587 tn?1307491605 This can result in either physical or mental changes to to what is your normal modus operandi. It could also be a drug interaction - bladderwrack is a mild anticoagulant, & could enhance the effects of meds like asprin & warfarin. the body is sooooo complex, I seriously wish I had an instruction manual.
1570981 tn?1295831355 It says something about the interaction of these two drugs. And my english arent that good to translate the meaning of the words. " Fluvoxamine may also inhibit the elimination and increase the blood levels of theophylline (Theodur, Uniphyl), warfarin (Coumadin), alprazolam (Xanax), and triazolam (Halcion)." - from the web. what does this means? help!!!
Avatar n tn s not a good idea to drink with the Coumadin and yet you continue. A cursory internet search will give plenty of evidence for the interaction of warfarin and alcohol. Binge drinking will increase your INR (ie effect of warfarin) and chronic drinking will decrease INR because your liver enzymes are chronically bumped which increases metabolism of warfarin (so your body eliminates it faster and get get less effect). Don't look a scape goat.
Avatar n tn Ok about a week ago I had a sinus infection. For two days i took some Keflex twice a day that I had left over. It wasnt helping , I found a bottle of cipro I had left over and I took one. Thats it. A few days ago my boyfriend starts having symptoms of chlamydia or gonnerea ureathra hurting, discharge etc. I have no symptoms. We have only slept together once in the last couple weeks. Anyways, I went and got tested and I have bacterial vaginosis. I have not been with anybody but him.
Avatar n tn There is no interaction between Alli (Orlistat) and oral contraceptive pills. The only listed interactions Orlistat has with other medications is a heart rhythm control medication known as Amiodarone, a thyroid medication known as Levothyroxine, Fat soluble vitamins, and the blood thinner known as Warfarin. Additionally, if you have taken Orlistat and oral contraceptive pills before with no changes the likelihood of the combination having an effect on your cycle this month is very small.
Avatar f tn Given that yesterday he said to not take the warfarin he was changing me from the genertic warfarin and putting me on the brand name of the med coumadin. Said some folks do not tolerate warfarin well but do well on coumadin and i am to start the coumadin today. I would be lying if i didn't say i am a bit gunshy at this point. This med has made me absolutely miserable and today is my 43rd bday...
Avatar f tn Went to the doctor and he tested me for strept and mono and tests came back negative. Well he put me on keflex (250mg twice a day for 10 days) totaling 5000mg course. My concern is that I got syphilis has well as hsv2 that same encounter but the keflex cured my syphilis but I gave it to my girlfriend before I was cured. Will that low of a dose keflex cure syphilis? I also had a full test 1 1/2 months post keflex and everything was fine except hsv2.
Avatar f tn It is starting to really bother me and almost at times makes me sick on my stomach from smelling this all day. He put me on Keflex and I must return in 9 days for a re-check. Does this really sound like a sinus infection or something more serious?
Avatar n tn I just read your question about the possible allergic reaction to Keflex. I had previously taken Keflex for mononucleosis at the age of 18 and and other things during my early 20's and never had a problem. A few years later when i was 28 I took it again. I had a terrible reaction. I had very large raised hives that started on the tops of my thighs, inside my arms and up my neck. My eyes were swollen and breathing became a task. I double dosed benendryl and went to ER.
Avatar m tn ve been having chills and just feeling blah, my main questions are is Keflex a good second choice antibiotic to clear up epididymitis i have an apointment with a urologist to basically ask the same questions and further investigation and my second question would be should i go ahead and take the keflex or wait for the urologists opinion since the doc that prescribed keflex was a general practicioner and not a specialist, your input would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WARFARIN CAN LOWER YOUR BLOOD COUNT AND AND ALSO LOWER CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D LEVELS?
Avatar n tn ve tried to read as much as I can about warfarin along the way. I even went to a day-long CEU workshop for medical professionals on warfarin management and got the certificate. But I'm still not an expert. To my way of thinking, the experts are the hematologists, pharmacists, and other health professionals who manage large numbers of people's warfarin on a daily basis.
942410 tn?1274047074 Clearly your question is one for your doctor to answer. In my experience with Warfarin, and I get along well with it, aspirin is much easier to deal with if it is sufficient. I don't know the relationship between having a pacemaker and needing Warfarin. Warfarin is a blood anticoagulant (thinner) as I'm sure you know. It is taken to reduce clot formation caused by something line Atrial Fibrillation or mechanical heart valves.
