Avatar m tn Enhanced hypoprothrombinemic response to warfarin has been reported in patients with acute alcohol intoxication and/or liver disease. The proposed mechanisms are inhibition of warfarin metabolism and decreased synthesis of clotting factors. Binge drinking may exacerbate liver impairment and its metabolic ability in patients with liver dysfunction. The risk of bleeding may be increased. Conversely, reductions in INR/PT have also been reported in chronic alcoholics with liver disease.
Avatar n tn Warfarin (coumadin): Because of the increased risk of bleeding, the concomitant administration of Warfarin with Plavix should be undertaken with caution. (See PRECAUTIONS - General.) At high concentrations in vitro, clopidogrel inhibits P450 (C).
Avatar f tn IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to keep doctor in the process as it could be disastrous with possible medical interactions or even food interactions such as grape fruit.
Avatar n tn To date there have been no reports of an important interaction in humans between warfarin and clopidogrel. Nonetheless, because warfarin increases the risk of bleeding, blood tests to measure the degree to which the blood is anti-coagulated or thinned (prothrombin time; INR) may be ordered to assess the degree of blood-thinning when warfarin and clopidogrel are used together.
Avatar f tn I have even tried herbal remidys to help with the severe menopause symptoms but nothing helps. I even had my primary care doctor run some blood test to check if there were any hormones in my body at all. NONE not a drop. I am always exhausted, profuse sweating for no reason. Severe hot flashes at times. Skin problems. I even had a sleep study done , checked for RA & lupus,, you name it I have been tested for it and guess what? Nothing.
Avatar m tn you have to think of the worse case senario of switching to warfarin having the warfarin be too strong and your wife getting a bleed of some kind. This could be in her GI track, brain etc. and can be very life-threatening and could cause huge hospital bills. So, depending on how long she will have to take the plavix for, and what she is taking it for, it may actually be less expensive to use the plavix.
Avatar n tn Angelica archangelica is a plant that grows in many places throughout the world. It has been used for medicinal purposes since the 10 century. Avatar f tn Loading doses of warfarin are not warranted and may result in bleeding complications. Interactions with other drugs must be considered, and therapy in elderly patients requires careful management. Current dosing recommendations are reviewed, and practical guidelines for the optimal use of warfarin are provided". Hope this helps, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond. Thanks for your question. Take care.
Avatar f tn My INR will not go above 1.5/1.6. And yes, I know all about the Vit K interactions and anything else that is possible to Google about interactions.
233622 tn?1279334905 The clearance of R-warfarin is generally half that of S-warfarin, thus as the volumes of distribution are similar, the half-life of R-warfarin is longer than that of S-warfarin. The half-life of R-warfarin ranges from 37 to 89 hours, while that of S-warfarin ranges from 21 to 43 hours. Studies with radiolabeled drug have demonstrated that up to 92% of the orally administered dose is recov-ered in urine. Very little warfarin is excreted unchanged in urine.

Avatar n tn s a weekend but I think you could google that. Also, I know walgreens has an option on their website that tells you about drug interactions....you may try that. Or just call your pharmacist they would definetly be able to help you! Sorry I couldn't answer it for you!
Avatar m tn Coumadin/warfarin is notorious for the difficulty in keeping your levels in range. Coumadin is known for having many drug-drug and drug-food interactions, which can make you over or under coagulated. For instance, since it works by being a vitamin K antagonist, foods that contain vitamin K (like leafy greens) can lower your INR. Taking vitamin E or fish oil or aspirin could raise it, and make bleeding more likely.
612551 tn?1450022175 I have been taking 2 grams of Korean Ginseng for a few months now and have found no problem with interactions with use of Warfarin. I not here for experience here. I take mostly in the hope to achieve some energy improvements, none noted, but fyi, I lost about 10 pounds down from about 238, I am 6' 5". I believe this may be due to the Ginseng affect on my digestion of carbohydrates (which I love to eat) - causing less production of blood sugar and fat.
Avatar m tn Can I take St john's wort with DIM (Diindolylmethane) ? Are there any interactions?
Avatar f tn For this reason you should always tell your doctor about all the medicines you are using, including herbal remedies and those bought without a prescription, since drug interactions can occur with these too. I hope this helps...remember to always go to the same pharmacist and the same dr. If you go to different doctors make sure they know exactly what you are on ...this could be very dangerous if you mix meds and the doctors don't know the full history.
Avatar n tn There's no known herbal interactions with this drug.
1226682 tn?1399937724 But you must be very careful when mixing herbal preperations with pharmaceuticals. Some interactions can be lethal. I would recommend speaking with a naturopathic doctor before adding anything to your current meds. You might want to check out our Complementary Medicine Forum. The folks there are extremely knowledgable about all things herbal and the interactions I spoke of. Look for Laura or Paxiled.....................
Avatar f tn Never replace your established, prescribed gout treatments with a home remedy without first informing your doctor, as herbal supplements may result in unintended interactions and side effects.

Avatar m tn I am concerned about possible drug interactions between the antibiotic azithromycin and the two heart medications warfarin and amiodarone. My relative has brief history of heart problems span one and a half years (though the underlying heart condition itself appears to be congenital). Rhythm problems resulted in CHF, hospitalization, and later diagnosis and heart surgery. Subsequent dysrhythmia and CHF has been prevented adequately with medication.

Avatar f tn But about 15 years ago I visited Hong Kong and I went to a Herbal doctor. Told him my health problems. Long and short he gave me a mixture of herbs that I took home and brewed as a tea. It fixed what was bothering me in a week. Now the question is there a web site or a phone number to one of these places in the USA? When ever I google and serf the internet I only get pills. That is not the same thing. Thanks for listening.
620877 tn?1282764097 I know that you have to be careful with herbal supplements as they can interact with prescribed medications, but other than that, I have no personal experience with whether or not these actually work for depression. Thoughts anyone?
