jantoven

Avatar m tn they made it originally to kill rats they would put it in the bait the rats would eat it and they would become thirsty so they would leave the nest for water and bleed to death out in the open and not in the hiding place
Avatar n tn Do to a leg blood clot I've been taking warfarin (7.5) for three years. I am 62 years old and very active. I weight lift, jog, and ride a bike. Will I have to take warfarin all of my life or at some point can I discontinue it?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your answer. We have heard alot about magnesium and he has been on asprin daily for years. He is 70 years old with blood work and blood pressure of a much younger man. When you take coumadin to help prevent a stroke then learn that taking it could also cause a stroke-that's kind of scary. My husband also started taking cod liver oil daily which we read keeps those arteries nice and slippery making it hard for clots to form. He also takes bunches of different vitamins.
Avatar n tn why did my pharmacist change me to jantoven when I have been taking warfarin?
1013028 tn?1250923267 Thrombosis can be prevented with heparin administration and treated with heparin and warfarin. If clots occur heparin followed by warfarin ( coumadin )is usually prescribed. Higher-than-usual doses of warfarin may be needed. Warfarin or Coumadin is prescribed to prevent strokes arising from atrial fibrillation and DVTs forming in the legs usually.
Avatar f tn I also know that warfarin can be a pain in the you know what. I was also on it for 6 months, but it does do what it is designed to do as long as you follow your doctor's instructions....and don't worry, rats basically eat the equivialent of a brick of that stuff while we take a little pill. I also didn't like the fact that I had to stop playing sports and keep my INR in the therapeutic range.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your answer. My cardiologist mentioned stopping the warfarin and going with lovenox for 3 days prior to a catherization but said there was no need to stop taking plavix.
Avatar m tn You may also want to talk to your pharmacist as they will have records of the meds you are taking and are best suited to identify if there is something you can take for pain that will not have a negative impact on the warfarin and INR. Other options you may want to try for relief include topicals such as stop pain or biofreeze or heat wraps.
Avatar f tn I have recently been put on Warfarin for Paroxysmal Atrial Fib. I feel miserable and anxious on this drug. They continue to up my dose, 11mg. at present. I have decided to quit the Warfarin but wonder how to go about this. Do I quit cold turkey or taper off? Anyone else has quit Warfarin and how did you do it?
Avatar f tn I have been on plavix for years with no problem but this warfarin is messing with me big time. I have been dealing with migraines for a couple weeks and after the first dose it seemed to help..even when i got up i felt much better not like my whole circulation was contricted like it normally does...same this morning...but i also had a headache yesterday that felt different that developed..
1569985 tn?1328247482 I am going to a different hospital for oncology and they want me to discontinue Warfarin 7 days before and use a Lovenox bridge injection for the interim. I called my regular EP and they say no need. What would you do? 7 days seems a long time without blood thinner -- I'm on it because I'm at risk for strokes, right? Any comments and/or advice would be welcome. Also, any pep talks welcome!
Avatar m tn I think your question is "what is the best treament for a-fib"? from what I've learned and observed there is no single best pathway to deal with it. There are different options, as there are different causes for a-fib. Finding the best one is sometimes trial and error.
Avatar n tn ve tried to read as much as I can about warfarin along the way. I even went to a day-long CEU workshop for medical professionals on warfarin management and got the certificate. But I'm still not an expert. To my way of thinking, the experts are the hematologists, pharmacists, and other health professionals who manage large numbers of people's warfarin on a daily basis.
Avatar f tn DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WARFARIN CAN LOWER YOUR BLOOD COUNT AND AND ALSO LOWER CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D LEVELS?
Avatar f tn 3 days later (boxing day) I was rushed to hospital with chest pains and diagnosed with self imposed pulmonary embolism. I was put on to Warfarin and monitored in hospital for 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn t know how warfarin is affecting your life style. I have been on warfarin for years and had no concerns about running and bike riding, and using power wood working tools. All of these activities puts one at an increased risk of a cut and bleeding, but I simply take the risk. On the other hand, I don't sky dive, or pick fights ....
Avatar m tn Plavix will be quite costly for us on a fixed income. Can coumadin (warfarin) be substituted for plavix?
Avatar m tn I had HIT. Another blood thinner was used it was very expensive but I cany temember the name.
1569985 tn?1328247482 I have to go off my Warfarin for a colonoscopy. The cardiologist's nurse said ask the doctor doing the procedure how long I should be off of the Warfarin. Doctor says ask the assistant when she gives me my instructions. Assistant says, "Oh, I'm supposed to tell you? Do you need a bridge medication like Lovenox?" Makes me a little nervous going off of it anyway and now this.
6644456 tn?1383330685 Currently I am taking Plavix and Asprin and now my Doctor wants to start me on Warfarin as well. This suggestion makes me very uncomfortable. I feel that a pacemaker would be a healthier alternative.
Avatar n tn Warfarin interferes with the healing of the plaque in the vessels. Usually, warfarin can be taken for 3 to 6 months. But it depends on the clinical judgment of the surgeons.
