I was put on Warfarin (Coumadin) but was not given any warning about alcohol and at least on 2 occasions drank quite heavily (about 5 or 6 glasses of wine in one evening). I have had a series of bodily changes including increased veins on my nose face and on the palms of my hand. Upon returning to the States, I consulted with a doctor who suggested that I get off coumadin given that my clots were in superficial veins. However, two days following my getting off coumadin, (1.
Today I spoke to my vascular surgeon's PA and she had never heard of headaches with warfarin. Something is wrong somewhere. I'm from a very rural town and drive 2 hours to see many of my specialists. I am ready to make that drive and go through the ER. God bless all of y'all and I will pray for us all.
This isn't really to do with atherosclerosis, but it is related. My mum has been having symptoms of dizzyness and headaches for about a year. She has had 2 MRI scans that have showed several lesions on her brain and has been taking cardiprin -to thin her blood? I think this reduces the risk of build up in her aterioles and capillaries so she doesn't have a blockage or a stroke. It has been suggested to her by the doctor to consider taking warfarin.

What would cause my blood pressure to be high (190 over120) in the morning along with severe headaches and eye pain but as the day progresses the headache goes away and by noon my blood pressure is back to normal (120 over 70)
Hi there, The common side effects of warfarin are headaches, dizziness, weakness, nosebleeds, unusual bruising, purple colored toes, etc.Pain in the ribs can be due to any muscle sprain, muscle strain or costochondritis. The common symptoms of pulmonary embolism are pleuritic chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing up of blood etc. Without a complete evaluation it is difficult to determine the exact cause. A clinical examination and work up is important for correct diagnosis. Seek medical help.

Prosthetic Valves and INR--Avoiding Headaches posted by J.D. on January 25, 1999 at 17:28:41: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear J.D., I have never heard of a link between INR levels and headaches. The risk of too low of an INR is blood clots, strokes, and thrombosed valve. Therefore I would not try to base therapy on whether she has a headache or not.
As for the headaches, could be due to the TIA and may subside with time. Besides this others are migrainous headaches and those caused due to disorders of the eyes , neck or ears to name a few. Check with your doctor to rule out the other causes for headaches. Regards.
Other side-effects can include nausea, diarrhea, headaches, epistaxis[, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, and mastalgia. Ginseng may also lead to induction of mania in depressed patients who mix it with antidepressants.
Every now and then I have had slight pain in my left temple, cheek or ear region. There is swelling of the mucous membrane in my left maxillary sinus, and also some in my ethmoid sinus. I can hardly get any mucus from my sinuses. Early in December 2012 I got a new sympton, retro-orbital discomfort. An ENT doctor said that the retro-orbital pain may result from a virus infection, and the previously occurred left side temporal pain may result from my cervical dystonia.
I had been on Dlatrend 3.125 mg twice a day but this gve me early morning headaches and so I stopped the night pill and this stopped the headaches. My cardiologist then changed me from 3.125 mg of Dilatrend to 40 mg of Sotocor but he has since retired from practice and my new one has got me to double the dose. But this extra dosage seems to have made heart more unstable. So are beta-blockers the right prescription if my sinus node is affected perhaps by a compromised left Vagus nerve?
After I eat I have a stitch like pain just under my right side of my lower right ribs, and get tiredness and headaches and the shakes if I don't rest straight away. Before the last bout of PE s I had none of these symptoms . I had an MRI for the vertigo which was clear but am at a loss as to why now I'm in constant neck pain now emanating down my shoulders and vertigo and headaches and other pains nearly every day. A small spot or lesion could be nething, could indicate u have really bad headaches....u need a copy of the report and MRI and take a look at everything and try to see what symptoms u have and get a Dr to listen, it took me yrs to get my DX ..... Another thing is to look to ur family 's medical history as it could have clues and indications ur Drs are missing....
I have had 2 ablations for AVNRT SVT tachycardia last year, May and July at UPMC. After the second procedure I developed a PE. I was on warfarin for 6 months and then in Jan 07 I went to a hemotologist and had many tests that were ok, so I stopped warfarin. At the same time, due to daily aspirin and severe anxiety from heart issues, I developed gastric and duodenal ulcers. I went on protonix and was fine in a few weeks.

low-fat diet (gallstones) avoiding dark leafy greens (DVT and warfarin) trying to lose weight so managing calories. Problems with legs and fatigue, so haven't been exercising. When I'm feeling better I work out three times a week - but it's been a long time since I was able to do that.
Hi, My wife had major DVT on oct-2010 followed by delivery,,after that she was on warfarin-10 mg.INR was going on normal like 2.2,2.4..etc.But later it became very low like 1.6,1.4(presently).she had sivere headache since yesterday and really dont know why this is happening. My main question is what is the reason for headaches during low INR? When I got married and had kids I found myself getting tired of the same things. I felt bad for going in to the doctor and complaining about worse headaches, neck and shoulder pain, back aches and menstrual cramps. I pretty much realized I was going to live with these problems and just 'dealt' with them until this past August when I got a job standing up for 8 hours a day as a cashier and all my symptoms became daily and I got news ones.
The nosebleed stopped and has been stopped about a week and yet my blood count has gone down further (7.2) today and this approx a week after the bleeding has stopped? I recently was in the hospital for a blood clot in the lungs and the put me on lovenox and warfarin, now I have severe gas which moves to my head and neck and cause me to get little if no sleep. Could this be caused by the medicine I am taking or something else?
Alcohol interacts adversely with Warfarin and increases the INR. Coumadin /warfarin interacts with foods that contain Vitamin K. Vitamin K works against Coumadin /warfarin and makes it less effective. Please try to eat consistent amounts of Vitamin K. Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, kale, collard greens, cabbage, and salad greens are some sources of Vitamin K, but there are many others.
Hi everyone. I have posted a comment about this before. I thought it was something to do with my back or a pinched nerve but I still have the tingling and weird sensation on the right side of my face and head. It is not really bad - worse sometimes more than others but it still bugs me and I wonder what it is all the time.
needles type pain ) in various places in my head, sometimes at the top of the head, sometimes at the front and sometimes at the temples. It feels as if I have a very small hat on which is pressing down on my head and sometimes it feels as if I have a million ants walking around in my head. This does not seem to happen much during the day when I am working but when I am resting or just cooking dinner it seems to start up again, and seems to be there when I wake up in the morning.
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, myfacial, neck and back pain, headaches, jaw problems, bowels of course... THE LIST can go on but either way a lot of conditions can cause bouts of tinnitus or you can end up with tinnitus 24/7.
That went away after 2 weeks and I started exercising again 2 weeks ago - I sweated alot and lost control of my breathing in a hot yoga class (40 degrees) and had what felt like a seizure- my hand went numb and clammed up - I felt sick and dizzy and I was breathing very fast. Since then my heart has been beating irregularly (sometimes palpatating so fast that I have been unable to sleep all night), my chest feels tight and hurts sometimes, I feel exhausted, extrememely dizzy and sometimes sick.
On a good note, I had a follow-up scan of my leg with the DVT and it had resolved itself, so I could quit the warfarin and now I can take Alleve when necessary for any pain!!! Just before Christmas my sinus allergies came back with a vengeance! I couldn't quit sneezing and blowing my nose each morning. I then thought that just maybe my back pain could have resulted from the generic Cytomel, as I had stopped taking it shortly before stopping the Zyrtec.
You should be on long term warfarin with a history of DVT and now pulmonary emboli. By the echo your pulmonary artery pressure is minimally elevated. The echo should be monitored for further changes in the PA pressure and right heart function. You have mild orthostatic hypotension which may be secondary to your recent illness. This should be monitored and potentially thigh length support hose might be of value. If you are not getting the answers you need --get a second opinion.
