walking dandruff in pets

My 7 yr old female cat has developed what appears to be dandruff thick skin flakes that slough off. Is this a cat's allergy or a dietary problem?

well its raining here today and Tweety went out in it she doesnt like the rain but its better than staying in ...She came in wet and I ot a towel to dry her, I noticed many white bits on her fur, got the wire brush and brushed her, it looks like dandruff do, cats get that ,its not flea eggs as when I looked through the magnifying glass you can se its like of flaky bits.. With all those different pets in the household, you might want to consider the possibility of some sort of external parasite (like fleas, but also chyletellia (walking dandruff) and others). I think a trip to the veterinarian is warranted so that your DVM can see first hand what is happening. I should have memtioned that what you are seeing might not even BE dandruff, it might be dander. Dander is entirely different from dandruff, and is the result of the dog's saliva drying on their skin and fur after they lick themselves. In many cases of allergies to pets, it isn't the hair that the person is allergic to at all, it's the dander.

t seem to have made much of a dent in the dandruff. Like I said, the dandruff is minimal on some days and heavier on other days with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I've tried adding some olive oil to his food, and even rubbing some on him because I read it might help, but really when I massaged some olive oil into his skin it almost seemed to make the dandruff worse. i dont know if its dandruff or wat, but it doesnt come in flakey form. it comes in tiny hair forms. they are white dust like particles which are in my hair and they never run out. what may the cause be and what should i do to stop it? i used to wash my hair every day/twice a day if i play ball. for the last 3 days ive tried shampooing every other day, but i do still wash my hair with water. but no good, there are still a massive amount of dust in my hair. They never made the connection. They found that the pets would lick their paws after walking across the wet floor, and they started getting really sick, but they didn't know why. The chemicals used in the Wet-Jet are very toxic to pets. I try to pass this info on to anyone with pets, and this looked like a good opportunity to share. You can google this info for yourself...this might save someone's pet.
