Vyvanse weight loss in adults

Common Questions and Answers about Vyvanse weight loss in adults

vyvanse

Vyvanse has essentially the same side effects as Focalin. I am an adult taking Vyvanse and have had experience with all other ADHD meds. Vyvanse, though stronger than some meds, seems to step up to the plate where all the others fall short in some way. Focalin/Concerta/Ritalin all helped calmed me down, however did not help with focus and concentration as much.
I actually know tons of people who misuse it, get it through psychs just for the energy, extra motivation or just weight loss. In the long run, it hurts the people who actually have it. That's why there are actual psychs and doctors out there who don't think adults have ADD that needs medications to be controlled. It won't kill her, but she is definitely misusing it. But a few psychs will give ADDers who complain of crashing around 6 or 8 p.m.
What are some of the treatment options for adult ADD-inattentive? My doc put me on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg once a day but it's not really helping. I still get very distracted and can't focus on just one thing. Are there any adults that have experienced success with other medications? I already take Omega-3 fish oils, B-complex, etc. and exercise 30 min./day Thanks!
When I first started the Adderall for the second time in my life, last year, I lost about 25 pounds and stayed up for two days at a time and was moody. That has now subsided and the weight loss will stop at a certian point unless she just flat out quits eating. I took Adderall in 1996 till 2000 and it helped me keep a job and get my act straight. If abused though, it can be a problem. Best of wishes to you and good luck with your friend. It sounds as though you really care about her.
I started out on a 30day trial of Vyvanse but at that time last yr, Vyvanse hadn't been approved in my state for adults so I was only ab le to get the 30day trial. It has since been approved for adult use. So then I started on Adderall XR and was fine for awhile. Although I do like Vyvanse better and next month will be switching back to it. But the thing of it is, we all know med's that treat ADHD are stimulants.

I've gone on diets before, even been completely serious about them with exercise and better eating habits, but nothing has seemed to work for me. Would my doctor prescribe me Vyvanse or adderall to help with my weight loss, exhaustion, occasional memory loss, and motivation? I've been prescribed Prozac for depression but it never worked, and I've heard/researched Vyvanse and Adderall.
College students take them for a boost when cramming for exams or pulling all-nighters. Others abuse stimulant meds for their weight-loss properties. If your child is taking stimulants, make sure he or she isn’t sharing the pills or selling them. 1. Adderall 2. Concerta 3. Ritalin 4. Vyvanse 5. Strattera (do not use this, there is a warning on the label for suicidal thoughts) 6. focalin 7. Dexedrine Their may be other but these are the most popular ones used.
I had the exhaustion and depression--and a bunch of weight loss when my cortisol was low. sometimes i think my body just doesn't do anything normal. I am curious about how iron and ferritin come in to all of this. My ferritin levels are a bit lower than my doc would like---but i know that he is a little different and doesn't goes by "lab normals", but he goes by levels for optimal health.
Its side effects were weight loss, loss of appetite, stunted growth and insomnia. There are worse side affects then that but my son never experienced any of it. He did have a loss of appetite but he got over that quickly. My son is 5 years old now and he is almost taller than me, mind you I’m only 4’11”. And he eats like he is a starved African child.
and even without me willing it so, the anger rises up in me and I get incredibly frustrated if something isn't working right the first time. A child or adult with ADHD can be rash, impatient, easily frustrated, and very impulsive. It's not just their fault - it's a chemical problem. Medication, diet adjustments, and behavioral modification can help these immensely - but the child will still have ADHD. I also might advise reading up on it some.
I know that one of the symptoms of adrenal insufficiency is unexplained weight loss---and about 6 years ago I lost a bunch of weight for no apparent reason---my girls tell me people were asking if I had an eating disorder. I was wearing a smaller size than I ever have in my adult life---and I have had 9 children. this happened during the year before I needed the carpal tunnel surgery, that ended up getting me sent to an endo.
He is 11 and takes only Vyvanse 30 mg. I am planning on taking him off of the Vyvanse in the summer and trying L-Theasine which is a natural vitamin. The doctors and teachers did not listen to what we want for our child, so I had to take matters into my own hands. Meds have caused more problems than actually helping him. He used to be such an outgoing little boy and now is fearful, shy, backward, and always worried about what people think of him.
also alls you need to do is Google side effects of add adhd meds and u will see possible sides sudden death , weight loss anxiety , ensomnia depression , suicidal thoughts ect..this is why I'm so torn and will try ever other option before throwing her on meds. .sure you can say al meds have some type of risk ..even if its 1percent its still there. .I would never judge any parent for using drugs to try in help there child .I just want to know I did everything possible to avoid it thays all!
Before tx, I went to the gym 3-5 days per week, 2-3 hours each time, cardio for an hour HR of 150+, weights, machines, etc. I did this for years. Now I might go once every week or two, if my wife drags me there. I am also doing Procrit, once/wk. I am looking for a way to increase my RBC (now at 2.96- down from 4.6) . I saw a Japanese study on a post that said 2,000 mg Vit C and E per day, significantly reduced anemia in patients taking Int. and Ribavirin.
I wish you the best as I know how humiliating it is for not only your child, but for you the parent. Other adults just don't understand why any child of 8 would have wet pants and can be rather unkind about it. I hope this offers you a useful point of view.
I suspect, some of this is just extra fluid build up / water weight being released from bloating. During my period, I tend to urinate alot, as my body purges the extra water weight. I usually gain and loose around 5 pounds each time my period comes and goes, due to the bloating. I am not a doctor, but I figure that this discharge is one of the many ways my body sheds the water it retained.
