I know what you mean when you refer to Adderall as "that nasty, gross stimulant." I have been taking a total of 30 mg Adderall for about 6 mths now. It works great during the day, and has changed my life tremendously. I am able to complete the 200 projects that I start on everyday. But insomnia has made me it's ***** at night! If I could guess what a crack head feels like when coming down, the Adderall "comedown" would compare to it.
after talking with my counselor i started back on Add meds 2 days ago starting at 50mg Vyvanse. Once again just as focalin did this made me very sick last night causing the palor and tremor just as focalin had. I experienced twitches and insomnia last night got 2 hours of sleep but and 5 the night before but am awake but i feel terrible.
I really need some educated advice on some proper medication choices to talk with my doctor about.
I have a question about Vyvanse. Currently, I am on 70mg. The problem is it wears off after 4-5 hours and I experience the worst crash and depression! I have experimented and taken 2 Vyvanse 70mg in one day.. one at 7am & the other at 1pm. That dosage lasted me until 9pm that night. I have read tons of articles about this wearing off on ADHD websites & forums.I also read where doctors are prescribing up to 210mg of Vyvanse. The most common high dose is 140mg.
ve read about extended release focalin verses extended release concerta is that focalin works faster (within 30 minutes of taking it) and is better for a child that needs the help prior to leaving for school and that type of thing. So, it is reported that it begins working fast in the morning and continues to control symptoms during the day and then tapers off at hours 10 to 12.
I recently had to switch my add meds from adderall xr to vyvanse and I am on day 2 and I feel like I havnt taken anything. I am extremely tired, have anxiety with everything going on around me at once, and I cant concentrate at all, I walked around my kitchen for 15 minutes not knowing why i wass but knew there was a reason then finally got my car keys that i was needing to get in the first place. Is this normal?
We weaned him off of it and took a 2 week hiatus from antidepressants and just gave him his focalin. We now switched him to concerta (lasts longer than focalin)...and added Prozac. Teacher really likes the results at school. However...evenings are hectic. He becomes very silly and immature. Often displaying autistic like behaviors--flapping hands, grunting, weird noises etc. Demeanor is relatively happy and giggly....Before just on ADHD meds...the withdrawal he was very angry and aggressive.
t get control of the issues. He is now on a trial prescription of 10mg Focalin XR but that has turned into a fight cause he doesn't want to take it anymore...although he says it does help him at school, he disobeys me, disrespects me, hits his sister, hates everyone. I even found his favorite toys in his room this morning broken and hidden in the closet, why would he break his favorite toys?
Vyvanse is metabolized differently, so could last longer in your system. It was done so you could not snort it like you can with Adderall. Adderall gives a stronger first "hit". V is smoother and takes longer to take effect so may not be as noticeable. Also the Dose of V should be 30mg compared to 10mgs of adderall XR to be somewhat equal.

Is there any such thing as having ADD while doing certain things but not others? I am a music major at my university and typically have to practice (or should practice) about 3-4 hours a day in addition to other homework I have. In general I don't have that much of a problem focusing. In class I can usually pay attention to the teacher (except some of my morning classes) I can take notes fine.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, not sure why he has chosen the "booster" vs a larger vyvanse dose. I guess I should ask him at the next appt.
One week ago a psychiatrist put me on 300mg Lamictal pm (without titration), 20mg Geodon pm, 1mg Intuniv pm, 10mg Ambien pm, 15mg Focalin am, and 40mg Vyvanse am for ADHD and bipolar. Prior this regimen I wasn't on any medications. Today I had to call an amulance as my resting pulse shot up to 140bpm and my blood pressure went up to 166/90. I thought I was going to die. As well, my lymph nodes are swollen and a bleeding rash has started to form on my hand.
I take 10 mg focalin once a day for my adhd. As usually I swallow it with some water. I never feel it affect me besides not being able to sleep. I had a friend who said if I snort it I will feel it better and that if I did it instead of swallowing it once a day, it wouldn't cause an addiction.
I have a seven year old daughter and just started her on Focalin. Has anyone heard if Focalin stunts your childs growth?
too simply answer these questions- focalin is the name brand for dexmethylphenidate, which is similar to the adhd and mild stimulant drug methylphenidate commonly known as ritalin, except for that ritalin has two isomers one thats inactive, and focalin only has the active isomer, overall its an easy way for pharmaceutical companies to make money, it is more potent than ritalin most doctors will tell you too cut your ritalin dose in half when starting focalin, meaning its twice as potent....
I've recently started taking focalin because I've been kind of depressed and when I take it, it makes me feel kind of like I'm "on top" but the after math *****, then when I think I can stop I can't and I've tried showing myself the symptoms and what it can do to me to scare myself and for some reason that doesn't work.
My son is 10 yrs old & has been diagnosed with ADHD since he was 6. He has been on Focalin, Adderall, Ritalin, Metadate & currently is taking Vyvanse. He takes 70 mg in am with 10 mg of Prozac & @ 3pm he takes 20 mg of Ritalin mainly so he can focus & concentrate on his homework because the Vyvanse wears off about that time. Then, about an hour before bedtime he takes 0.1 of Clonopine to help him sleep. If he doesn't take it then he is up all night.
I have a 22 year old college student, with a bad addiction to snorting Focalin (they are prescribed to me for narcolepsy and adhd) and smoking marijuana. I have been snorting the pills for about 7 months now, and I can't get myself to stop. I finally gave the pill bottle to my girlfriend to regulate for me, and watch me take it in the morning so I dont just keep it and snort it later.
I have experience with rehab and drug abuse prior to the focalin.
I have been snorting focalin for 7 months, I recently dumped my pills & went through 6 days of withdrawl only to pick it back up again today. My husband is not into any sort of drugs whatsoever. I need advice on other abusers should I ween off? Also has anyone here ever gone from abusing it to taking it correctly again? I feel like scum. I appreciate your responses.
