I also read where doctors are prescribing up to 210mg of Vyvanse. The most common high dose is 140mg. This is called Off Label Prescribing.
Does anyone here take over 70mg of Vyvanse? If so, how long does it last?
I actually called Shire this past weekend and made a product complaint. I told the rep that my meds were wearing off after 4-5 hours & asked if it was possible to get my doctor to write for more than 70mg.
It is perfectly legal for a physician, once a med has been approved by the FDA, to use it for off-label purposes. What isn't legal is for the manufacturer to talk the physician into using it for off-label purposes. So this med might be the best thing for you, and it might be completely inappropriate depending on where the professional got the info from. So you're right to question things, but as I said, that doesn't mean this isn't a good med for you.
I gather you are taking Vyvanse (an amphetamine) for something like ADHD?

Apparently, it is important to take this med at the exact same time every morning, especially to minimize the nighttime effects on sleep. Are you careful about the timing?
You have to wean yourself off Vyvanse? Ive been on adderall in high doses for months at a time and quit it a few times cold turkey and my doctor didn't say anything about needing to ween, withdrawal was just basically sleeping for 3 days straight which can actually be pleasant if you don't have anything to do. I didn't go crazy without it or have cravings for it. It sounds to me like her son is having psychotic reactions to it and would be best to stop immediately.
Try taking your blood pressure a few times on the Vyvanse and off the Vyvanse, at similar times of day and under similar circumstances. Depending on the results, you may need to talk to the doctor that is prescribing the Vyvanse to see if there is something else that can help your ADHD. I do agree with Yvette BG's other comments, above.
They all have reported feeling better daily - this off label approach is a God Send! Now I will finish out the 12 weeks - they will do the viral load test again at that time and then 12 weeks post treatment test again to declare me officially SVR!!!

my step son is supposed to take vyvanse and clonidine, but he has been out of vyvance for 3weeks now and seems fine taking only clonidine.
Going of off vyvanse is different for everyone, but generally isn't fun. When you go off of the medication the important thing is to fight the urge to just sit down, eat, and do nothing. If I were you I would do some sort of food journal while you are on the medication for a couple of days and track your activity. Try to follow your patterns that you kept while on the medication and that should help with the possible weight gain.
Usually I can stay clean for about 2 weeks and either I will get some phentermine (diet pills) or my Vyvanse script filled and again use/abuse for 2 or 3 days then trash the remaining pills and abstain for about 2 weeks till time to refill. It is very embarrassing. When I am in the 2-3 day use/abuse period I think about ways to stop, treatment, counselor, telling a friend, getting a sponsor, etc.
im on the highest dosage of vyvanse and its supposed to last longer than addorall but it seems to be working less and less...is that possible?? im sick of insurance not paying for this medication yet not getting any other substantial benifit from vyvanse, anyone else experience a increased tolerence to any add meds?
If he truly displays these conditions, he may well require pharmacological treatment, so it is not a good idea to take him off. However, having said that, Vyvanse is an unusual choice for such a young child, and Abilify is an unusual choice to treat generalized anxiety. I would suggest that you obtain a second opinion.
Hi all, today I obtained a new script for 20mg of Vyvanse (a switch from Adderall XR). I got it filled at CVS, and having read accounts of tampering, I checked out the capsules and noticed their contents are low, and significantly varied. Most of the capsules are only HALF full, and none of them are entirely full. I'll also note that I picked the script up myself, and kept them in a secure place until I opened them.
Prozac and Paxil , block the metabolism, the breakdown, the effective use of amphetamine products like Vyvanse, Adderall, and Dexedrine. If you don’t know that simple fact you can either:
remain irritable and nasty for years
give up ADHD or depression treatment altogether
add more inappropriate meds on top
find yourself “diagnosed” with bipolar illness
become even more depressed
There are "clean" anti-depressants that do not block the liver pathways.
The inability to withstand antidepressants (including those you mention) began during an ill-advised rapid detox/rehab for Klonopin, alcohol, Ritalin (not Vyvanse at the time), and, believe it or not, I was taken off Paxil at the same time. If you know about Paxil w/d, what kind of genius would add that trauma to an already bad idea (rapid Klonopin withdrawal is not suggested by anyone who knows what they're doing, which does NOT include the rebab industry.
