Common Questions and Answers about Vyvanse half life

vyvanse

Grapefruit juice contains substances that prolong the time most drugs remain in the body - extending their half-life. This does not make the drugs ineffective, but may result in a higher dose than your physician may deem appropriate. The best thing to do is to ask the prescribing physician.
hello, i am 29 years old and have struggled with add/adhd and depression (undiagnosed) my whole life. about a month ago i went to my family doctor because of concerns over a recently developed rapid heart beat (95 at rest). while i was there i brought up my add and depression symptoms. he refered me to a psych. my psych told me that vyvanse would help my add and my depression.
As someone who has struggled with food addiction and weight my entire life it was an unexpected miracle that Vyvanse COMPLETELY rid me of my food compulsion...I have to remind myself to eat? Can anyone calm me down? Confirm my fears? suggest something else?
He then prescribed to me the amphetamine, Vyvanse (30mg). I was to take it the very next morning after breakfast. I have had very few problems with the my other medications, like the antidepressant, Zoloft (50mg), and the antihistamine, Zyrtec (10mg). But I have started to notice some very disturbing and confusing side effects the same day I started taking this. On Friday, I had taken one pill in the morning and left to go to school (I had taken my other medications the night before).
im a 17 year old male who's been on & off different medications for 3 years before i tried "vyanse" last last year at around this time. I went from 20mg to 30mg then to 50mg & took it till the end of may then stopped because of summer. I again started taking it in August & took it 5 months straight, & actully had increased its dosage to 60mg early December. I ran out on the 21st & stopes taking anymore until January 3rd, the day we came back from Christmas break.
To answer your question, I take Vyvanse. It's new and very close to adderall; it's just wrapped differently. The main difference is that it's absorbed into your intestines, so you do not get a "jolt" from immediate release of the medication, and the probably of addiction is very, very low. On an empty stomach, it takes about a half hour to kick in and always lasts (for me) about 12 hours. You only need to take one. Vyvanse has seriously changed my entire life.
Doesn't really mattter how you got it...we need to get rid of it. 5 years of my life with the quality of life of a goldfish. They need to realize this is becoming an epidemic....or acknowlege it. Lincoln had more fun at the theatre. LETS GET RID OF THIS CAEBV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Organ failiure or suicide or just being sedentary sets you up for a very much shortened life span if this doesn't go away...fast!
The only thing that held me back from taking my own life was the thought of my mother going through another suicide. Her sister had committed suicide in 1984. In August of 2003, at the age of 26 I went to see a counselor. I was then referred to a "psychiatrist" at which point I was "diagnosed" with clinical depression. I began counseling sessions and was prescribed the anti-depressant Zoloft. I would later learn that the psychiatrist misdiagnosed me.
Focalin XR 20 mg caused me to have sever anxiety attacks at night, caused restlessness , but it did its job for my ADD it affected the rest of my life very badly because my hands and extremities where turning pale and felt numb. To treat the anxiety i started on Citalopram and this medication only made me very tired. (falling asleep in class). after talking with my counselor i started back on Add meds 2 days ago starting at 50mg Vyvanse.
We went to the doctor, told her we didn't want her back on the concerta and she prescribed Vyvanse. Here we are, mid school year and are months into her picking again. It is totally out of control now and she has approximately 10-15 sores on her legs/hands. We clean, cover and wrap the areas every night and even have her wearing soft gloves & cotton tights at bed time. She has now started going past all this to get at them.
But I wondered what would happen if I tried taking only one-half a pill, and just the other half if I needed it. That worked fine. Mostly I only used the 1/2 dose. See if a lower dosage works for you. The less of this garbage you take, the better.
I already know everything that you can possibly tell me about it and I don't much appreciate being lectured on it. I also smoke cigarettes, anywhere between half a pack to a full pack per day. I plan to quit in the future but all attempts thus far have proven futile. Anyway, about 3 months ago I obtained a bottle of Vyvanse, containing 50 30 milligram capsules.
but all in all the positive side effects outweigh the negative. I'm stoked about the huge toll that vyvanse has taken on my life, and I'll never get off of it.
I'm a 25-year-old male, I own my own video production company specializing in music videos and I am a recording artist. I live with my girlfriend in an apartment who I am in love with, and get along with great. My schedule is always crazy but I try my best to create routines for myself, using my office as a place of "work" and "creating" and getting deals done so I can pay the bills.

and conerta can cause seizures and can not be reversed once they start with out trying medicines and other ways may have all his life, and now not sure how long his life will be, and will have to be taken care of by someone if something where to happen to me or my husband. the side effects are not worth it because you can be dealing with not only the add or adhd but other things as well.
My now 6 year old was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 4 he has tried 3 different medications is currently on Vyvanse 20mg which does not help with his impulsiveness or hyper activity at school.
(If you read my prev post, youll know that i was almost at 200lbs at one point and i'm now down to 148, but mainly because of vyvanse for my adhd which suppresses my appetite....and as far as proportions, almost ALL my weight is carrie in my upper back. i don't have the fatty hump on the neck for cushings, but the fact that i carry it in my face and my back drives me crazy because no one in my family carries weight like that but me.
Was on WAY too many meds at too high of dosages (Vyvanse 70mg, Clonidine increasing dosage). Temper Tantrums/Rages that could last for hours. In a year and a half, we've made great progress. We cut/changed his meds. He's now on Vyvanse 30mg twice a day, Tenex 1/2 tablet twice a day, and melatonin 1/2 tab at night. We rarely have temper tantrums/rages and the every day destruction of our house is under control.
we're young and both have a big life ahead of us! It does all make sense now...my whole life...the things i thought...the things i did. And its so good to finally get to the bottom of it all. Oh yeah the lower dose is going well...
So I saw the neuro again on Tuesday and he gave me Vyvanse. Tried that on Thursday. Not good at all. Felt like a rabbit on speed. Not good at all. I don't think my left eye was blurry but the medication was making me feel so strange I was focused on everything else. So Friday I went back to the 100mg dose of Provigil. I barely function on this dose and sure enough my left eye is blurry. At the 100mg at least I don't have any heart palpitations.
working my way up with adderall xr, my tolerance seemed to keep going up, then the 30mg 1x day just didnt work so my doctor prescribed 30 mg tablets 2x day, and at the same time my psychiatrist had started me on vyvanse, and i was doing fine for a while. then i lost my insurance and had to go off vyvanse, and only coul;d get my adderall if i payed $150-$200 for a doctor visit plus $65 for script.
I have heard mixed reviews from FMS patients on it but I think it is worth a try. Another consideration might be something like Vyvanse to keep you functional during the day. I tried it but was too sensitive to it and had to stop. I think the biggest trick to getting through everything for me was learning to pick and choose where I spent the little energy I had. I cannot imagine how demanding your job must be and I hope you find a way to get through this.

On the contrary, I noticed a marked improvement in my health when starting medication - my blurry eyesight and eye pain (due to a hereditary muscle condition) lessoned vastly, and my sleep improved greatly. Stimulants have a relatively short half-life, and when they're out of your system, they're out. I would think that TonRN taking her child to a neurologist would be silly at this juncture, when chances are the meds need adjusting, which means they'd be sent right back to their ADD doc.
So when our dishes are half done, laundry is half done, yard is half done, garage is half done, grocery list is half done, bills are half done, ect. we stop look around at all this half done stuff and feel like we got nothing accomplished, because we didn't. Then we feel lazy, frustrated, and often depressed because of ignorant friends and family like you. Yes there are "tricks" that we teach ourselves to get though it.
just come to terms with, you don't need to understand everything, just do your best to get as mentally healthy as possible. mental illness is for life. but we can learn to deal with it and stay on our meds. i take abilify as my antipsychotic for mania, it only mildly helps but it's a lot better than not taking it and it works different for different people. i tried zyprexa (orlanzapine) years ago and it did nothing for me but what works for one may not work for another.
Glad to hear that things are looking up! Sleep life - Vyvanse has a real long duration (one of its advantageous), but it may be why she is having trouble going to sleep. Make sure she is taking it as early in the day as possible. Did she start having problems after the doctor upped the dose?
Hopefully someone else can right click and give you the links, but really, I can see that if you have a flash player then ALL ads come to life and are completely different than if you don't have the player. Also, it would be nice not to see ads AT ALL when your writing in your own journal. It's completely distracting and I don't think it even used to be that way. Thanks so much for all your help, Emily!
