Vyvanse half life

Common Questions and Answers about Vyvanse half life

vyvanse

Avatar f tn I have a very accurate scale, to the milligram, and the weights were pretty consistent even though some capsules appeared half full. A 50mg vyvanse weighs about 175mg including the capsule and there was little variance (+/-5mg) in any capsule, even comparing one that appeared completely full to one that appeared half full. I also tried weighing just the powder of a full and half full capsule, they both weighed about 125mg.
Avatar m tn THEN the real problem. I awake in absolute terror. I am pretty much completely dysfunctional for at least half an hour to two hours. The Vyvanse generally relieves it when it kicks in. It's as if my mind falls apart when off it. I never wake up happy to face the day, excited, etc., but instead face this same terror each and every morning. If I nap in the day, I will awake with the same reaction AGAIN and, even though Vyvanse is still active, or should be, it's as if it wore off.
Avatar f tn Grapefruit juice contains substances that prolong the time most drugs remain in the body - extending their half-life. This does not make the drugs ineffective, but may result in a higher dose than your physician may deem appropriate. The best thing to do is to ask the prescribing physician.
Avatar f tn I would go to your doctor and make sure you're still on the right dose of vyvanse. As you grow and get older your body and brain changes. You may be metabolizing it differently now. Also, make sure you're eating enough. You may be starting to grow and need more food. Especially since you exercise a lot, make sure you're getting enough calories. Just try adding some food for a couple days. See if it makes a difference. But I would definitely check on the vyvanse dosage.
Avatar m tn On an empty stomach, it takes about a half hour to kick in and always lasts (for me) about 12 hours. You only need to take one. Vyvanse has seriously changed my entire life. I am a much happier, less stressed, productive person. I have virtually no side effects except for a small decrease in appetite and mild to moderate when it wears off. I sleep like a baby, even though a side effect is insomnia. I'm so much more calm, neat, organized, motivated, punctual, and non-fidgety.
Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
Avatar n tn hello, i am 29 years old and have struggled with add/adhd and depression (undiagnosed) my whole life. about a month ago i went to my family doctor because of concerns over a recently developed rapid heart beat (95 at rest). while i was there i brought up my add and depression symptoms. he refered me to a psych. my psych told me that vyvanse would help my add and my depression.
1218509 tn?1267490923 I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 9 years old. Currently I am on Adderall, because Vyvanse was too expensive when I didn't have insurance. I took 60 mg of Vyvanse for three to four months, back in mid-2009; it was absolutely amazing. It was very smooth, it lasted around the 12-14 hours my Psychiatrist said it would, and I did not give me any side effects. I would highly recommend Vyvanse to anyone who needs a ADHD/ADD medication.
Avatar m tn I take Vyvanse 20mg. I received a new batch from Express Scripts yesterday and they felt different so I started looking at the capsules and they are only half full. I called Express Scripts and they said that it was probably just settling from shipping. But I've never had that happen before. Not sure where to go from here or who to call. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have been taking Vyvanse for ADD for a few months. Since taking it I have developed pain associated with bowel movements; hemmorrhoids, pain post bm, blood etc. I checked for side effects for Vyvanse but aside from stomach pain, and diarrhea no other relatable side effects were shown. I was curious if anyone taking this medication or similar type of medication has experience this or been able to manage this issue.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! Thanks so much for reading - I'm hoping someone who has experience with this might be able to help steer me in the right direction. - First of all, I'm female, 23 years old, 5'3, about 135lbs - I have been prescribed Adderall ir for Adult ADD and treatment resistant depression for about 3 years now. In the beginning, we started with just 5mg - and it did wonders for me! It was like a switch had been turned on, and I could see clearly again.
Avatar n tn As someone who has struggled with food addiction and weight my entire life it was an unexpected miracle that Vyvanse COMPLETELY rid me of my food compulsion...I have to remind myself to eat? Can anyone calm me down? Confirm my fears? suggest something else?
665851 tn?1225826009 No drug is a perfect fit for everyone. Many people with ADHD derive life-changing benefit from taking Vyvanse, and other stimulant medications. You're certainly welcome to have your opinion - that nobody should take these drugs - but please keep in mind, the uphill battle that we with ADHD have to fight, to have ADHD recognized as "real" and to be allowed to take medication for it without harassment.
Avatar m tn I am really sensitive to medications. Adderall was like what I imagine taking crystal methamphetamine feels like. At least I felt like how those people looked. I have been on Vyvanse for a while now. And was worried when they doctor said it was very similar to Adderall XR. But he promised me that the issues I was having with feeling ill, insomnia, and no appitite would lessen on Vyvanse. And that the nasty, gross stimulant feeling I got from Adderall would go away.
Avatar f tn Hello , I'm 21 and have taken ADHD med (adderall and now vyvanse ) my whole life (since I was 6) it helped me amazingly all in elementary-10th I quit taking it everyonce in a while for a few months because I hate it I hate taking pills but this past year I have started collage back and I need my medicine for school!!
Avatar f tn I hope things went well for you with the vyvanse. I unfortunately stopped my vyvanse cold turkey and had a grand Mal seizure when I was 38 and never had a seizure in my life before that. My doctor said you should always ween yourself off any type of stimulant.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your response. Correct, all branches of the military will not allow those with ADHD to enlist unless they have been off ALL meds for at least one year. I will certainly check out the links you provided. In fact, I stumbled upon jeffsaddmind.com just the other day and have been in contact with him. I checked out the link regarding ADDCARE and that's very disheartening. I should have figured.
Avatar f tn He takes 50 mg of Vyvanse daily and was wondering if anyone has experienced this side effect with Vyvanse. Thank you.
Avatar f tn There is no need for him to cease using the prescribed vyvanse but do take care of the other addictions. Vyvanse wont be prompting the use of them, but if not taken care of he will prompt the use of them.
Avatar f tn I have tried a holistic approach in my diet, life habits and petition God in prayer as well as different medications from time to time. I am very healthy except for this disorder, but was seeing a doctor for medication, Strattera when I went on medicaid. Does medicaid cover Stratterra, Vyvanse or Concerta and other ADHD or ADD medications?
Avatar f tn My son was just recently diagnosed with ADHD and started on Vyvanse. Sometimes he swallows the pills and sometimes he waste them. So I have tried to mixed them with water and it doesn't seem effective. Is there a magic formula. so much med and so much water? Please help me am I missing something?
Avatar m tn Even if you had high blood pressure before starting on the Vyvanse, the Vyvanse can make it worse. Try taking your blood pressure a few times on the Vyvanse and off the Vyvanse, at similar times of day and under similar circumstances. Depending on the results, you may need to talk to the doctor that is prescribing the Vyvanse to see if there is something else that can help your ADHD. I do agree with Yvette BG's other comments, above.
Avatar f tn My 10 year old son, who is ADHD, was taking 30 mg of Vyvanse and it worked fine for like a month and half. The doctor increased his dosage to 40 mg and it was working great, but again the effects seemed to have diminished in two months. The doctor recommended to keep him in the 40 mg of Vyvanse, which he takes in the morning, and in the evening give him 1 mg of Intuniv. Do you know if that will help with his concentration at school?
1575110 tn?1334664635 Hi I am 28 years old I am adhd i was on concerta for two months. Then my dr.changed me to vyvanse he said try it you'll like I think this is for u. Avatar m tn Wellbutrin keeps me from having negative thoughts about myself, but also prevents me from acting out in seemingly-manic ways. Pre-treatment, I had no structure in my life, I couldn't get out of bed in the morning, my sleep schedule was all screwed up, I hated myself, I was constantly ruminating about negative stuff, and I would start acting out uncontrollably with no regard for any consequences (usually after a day of feeling sorry for myself).
