I have been dealing with the diagnoses of idiopathic Hypersomnia for about 14 years now. Fancy way of saying you're REALLY sleepy and we are not sure why.
For me the reason for my condition being called that versus Narcolepsy is because I do not have cataplexy and did not go into REM within 5 mins of falling asleep.
I have been on Vyvanse for a while now. And was worried when they doctor said it was very similar to Adderall XR. But he promised me that the issues I was having with feeling ill, insomnia, and no appitite would lessen on Vyvanse. And that the nasty, gross stimulant feeling I got from Adderall would go away.
And he was right about everything and then some. And believe me if there is a side effect to have I will have it.
I'm 25 (male), all my life I've required about 13hrs sleep EVERY night (regardless of bed time). If i actually get the 13hr, i'm not tired the next day but understandably not always possible, for eg. if i “only” get 10hrs i will be VERY tired that day and also get a 'sleep debt' .
Went to bed at 8pm last night and woke at 1pm today as i "only" slept 11hrs the night before.
I have been diagnosed with "Idiopathic hypersomnia" which means I can sleep round the clock. I'm always fatigued and sleepy (unless medicated with a prescribed amphetamine). Can my sleepiness actually be the result of either my longterm use (15+ years) of Neurontin (for epilepsy) or longterm use (10 years) of Prozac? There are problems associated with going off either of these meds, but it is very difficult to get through life feeling chronically sleepy and drugged.
When I do wake up I want to go back to bed an hour or so later. I am treated for depression, and I do not feel depressed.
When I wake up I cannot focus properly, and feel like I am in a haze. I was having horrible problems trying to stay focused at work. I am not working right now so I am really fighting to stay awake. I fall asleep instantly. I can sleep anytime, anywhere, yet I am always still tired. When I try to wake up I feel as though I can't.
It seems to be getting worse and worse.
He prescribed Vyvanse to take in the morning then before bed I am supposed to take Topamax (migraine medicine) and Trintellix (an antidepressant) as well as a diet.
I started on the Vyvanse mostly b/c I also suffer from ADHD and it is really great so far for my attention at work. However I am really leery of taking new meds especially if I do not need them and even so I would like to see how I react to one before taking others on top of it.
And napping never made sense to me, because it did nothing to relieve the tiredness. Also with hypersomnia you get really good sleep, but for some reason you need more of it.
Hopefully you have a sleep study soon, so that you can get your answers.At least knowing what you have gives you a chance at handling it.
This problem is a heart electrical issue more than a rhythm one, but I'm guessing some of you might know more about this issue, too, and these changes weren't mentioned in the initial report.
I had a 24-hour holter, and the report said normal, but when I requested the actual data, I found the ischemic narrative shows significant ST changes, both elevations and depressions, and for longer durations than 1 minute. The ST elevations occurred while I was exercising.
My son has been takiing this med Vyvanse for adhd, so I decided to take it to see if it would help me with my depression and anxiety, and it worked great, I didn't have any side effect to it. This is why I ask if its okay to take Vyvanse for my anxiety, right now I'm taking celexa but its not doing nothing for me anymore. I've been taking Celexa for the past 3 yrs and I think its time for me to change my meds.
My 16 year old son has been on vyvanse for 3 weeks. He cannot sleep, the doctor suggested putting him on clonidine to help. Has anyone had any experience with taking clonidine as a sleep aid while on vyvanse? Also, my son is extremely short of breath when doing any physical activity. He takes 50 mg of Vyvanse daily and was wondering if anyone has experienced this side effect with Vyvanse. Thank you.
Hey Linz, my psych had switched me to Vyvanse when it first came out, and at my next appointment I asked to be switched back to Adderral XR. The vyvanse did not work much at all for me, if anything it made me worse. So now I'm back on Adderral, and doing alright, or as alright as I can be doing (unfortunately meds don't make everything ok).
my step son is supposed to take vyvanse and clonidine, but he has been out of vyvance for 3weeks now and seems fine taking only clonidine.
The problem is that my doc prescribed me 60 30mg capsules so im trying to figure out how many 30 mg capsules is 70 mg vyvanse which i know that a 30mg vyvanse is 10mg adderall and 70 mg vyvanse is 30mg adderall.Is 7 30mg vyvanse capsules 70mg dose .I switched from taking 30mg adderall twice a day im going to have to call doc tommorroww.Any help in figuring this out .Thank you Im trying to get 70 mg vyvanse out of these 30mg capsules 1 70 mg or 1 60 is the right dose for me.
If you have ADHD and a prescription - no worries even if it does show up. If you don't ....then this search showed that, "Vyvanse is detectable in urine up to 3 days after ingesting Vyvanse. Vyvanse is detectable in hair samples for months after ingestion. Though Vyvanse itself only stays in your system four hours post-ingestion, the active drug d-amphetamine stays in your system for 40 hours.
I’ve been abusing adderal & vyvanse for over 2 years now it’s has started 2 make me sick I have scabs all over my shoulders fro picking at my skin because after taking a high dose of both my skin starts 2 blister my vision is blurry & and I’m experiencing basically every rare symptom from someone that’s abusing and the worst thing is I’ve destroyed every relationship I have my family is disgusted with me I have done things that are so far out of my character I don’t know if my wife’s fam
Over the last year I have had a serious problem waking up in the morning. I can sit the alarm clock beside me and have even tried sitting it across the room so I would have to get up out of bed to shut it off. The problem is I don't hear it. The alarm goes off for hours before I even hear it. I have even tried going to bed at the same time every night and still nothing has changed. People have tried to yell at me and shake me awake and I still don't wake up.
i have a 5 year old boy that currently has adhd, but for the past three weeks he has become very very defeint some time to the point that he gets aggressive, could he have odd along with his adhd, right now he is on 40mgs per day of vyvanse for adhd. his doc, gave him .1mg of clonidine to help with his aggreesion. does clonidine help with odd??how long does it take to see improvements??
My husband took Vyvanse for 14 months for adult ADHD. It worked for the first few months and he was able to do a lot of projects around the house that he never would have done before; I was impressed. Then, I noticed he became short-tempered and irritated very easily, which eventually turned into full-blown aggression. We did not associate this with the drug so he kept taking it. Then we moved and he decided not to get his Rx refilled by a new Dr....
Vyvanse is not a good medicine for people with high blood pressure and you might talk with your doctor and see if there are alternatives. Beta blockers do antagonize the effects of vyvanse. Maybe a calcium channel blocker or an ACE inhibitor would be better--but first check and see if Vyvanse is a must for you.
But if sge is abusing it she will likely start to complain about having an extremely high tolerance for the vyvanse...
m in recovery for alcohol and cocaine abuse. Been sober now for 10 months, and yes it has been difficult not to abuse vyvanse. Addicts think different than most people. We find something we like and all we can think is more more more. What I do is get a friend to hold my vyvanse and give it me as needed. I don't recommend holding on to them yourself!!! Bad idea!!
