Vyvanse better than adderall

Common Questions and Answers about Vyvanse better than adderall

vyvanse

I started Vyvanse back in August 2010, and it was the miracle that I've been searching for. Over a span of 4 years, I've taken stimulants including: Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison. I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now. This has been my adjusted dose from trying 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg.
I was on adderall and switched to Vyvanse because my doctor wanted to see how it worked. I didn't even last a month and had to go back to adderall. It just didn't have the same effectiveness for me.
First of all I do not drink alcohol ever, I mean never in the last three years and never while on this medication in any event. I do not smoke or drink coffee or use any stimulant at all besides Adderall. So here it is: 6-7 A.M.: 1 capsule 30 m.g. RX 1-2 P.M.: 1 capsule 30 m.g. RX THATS IT!- Note that this is already more than the recommended dose, but my doctor seems to feel that my extraordinary problem with hyperactivity justifies the increase.
I recently had to switch my add meds from adderall xr to vyvanse and I am on day 2 and I feel like I havnt taken anything. I am extremely tired, have anxiety with everything going on around me at once, and I cant concentrate at all, I walked around my kitchen for 15 minutes not knowing why i wass but knew there was a reason then finally got my car keys that i was needing to get in the first place. Is this normal?
i have taken vyvanse, and adderall (unprescribed) on a couple of occasions to help me with my school work, but this afternoon i had one of the worst experiences of my life. i had purchased a 70 mg vyvanse pill, took 1/4 of it yesterday and the other 3/4 this morning, so today i was on about 50 mg.
I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse. I would imagine that these annoying side effects will eventually subside with continued therapy w/Vyvanse. Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first.
Vyvanse is an extended release form of dextroamphetamine, also known as dexedrine. (I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty confident that my info is correct.) Dextroamphetamine is an amphetamine, which is what most people mean when they call something "speed." There are several well-known, widely used amphetamines (by "used" I mean both used legally, as prescribed by physicians, and used illegally, also known as abused).
Next, I called my insurance company to make sure they would pay on more than 70mg. The rep told me they would pay for Vyvanse 70mg twice a day. So, I got lucky with that! Now, I have to convince my doctor to write for more than 70mg. I am going to take some info that I found on the internet and show him. Hopefully, he'll write for 140mg. I guess we'll see...
I just don't think you will be able to find a doctor to proscribe you any more Adderall than you already get. I would recommend taking days off Adderall to try and lower your tolerance.
i hope you have a better night than last, and i hope your next few day are better. You know the pendulum swings both way s, sometimes things are great ,then you have to prepare for the swing twards the negitive. your last post seems to be a swing in the positive. I to have had a rough 24 hours., so i just say to my self so what ,ive been through hell and back at different times during my life. so to put it in perspective things are not so bad right now. so im suffering a little, it will pass.
I'm a 48-yr old female trying to find the correct treatment for ADD. Vyvanase was prescribed for me as an alternative to Adderall XR, because when that was first prescribed, it didn't last long enough (20 mg) and Vyvanase is supposed to have a much longer, smoother effect. Vyvanasee is supposed to be "exactly the same molecule" as Adderall - after it is ingested and goes through your system (and therefore less likely to be abused). To me, it felt like a completely different drug.
In fact I waited a whole 24 hours until my last Adderall pill to take Vyvanse just to make sure I was safe. When I began Vyvanse treatment it really worked. It kept me focused I was pretty much where I wanted to be. I had some tension and anxiety but I could cope with it. Vyvanse was giving me the clarity that I was looking for with some side-effects that I could manage, at the time.
I am an adult taking Vyvanse and have had experience with all other ADHD meds. Vyvanse, though stronger than some meds, seems to step up to the plate where all the others fall short in some way. Focalin/Concerta/Ritalin all helped calmed me down, however did not help with focus and concentration as much. They also created some problems with appetite loss, and insomnia, also the ups and downs of the meds coming on and wearing off everyday was tough at times.
I started out on Vyvanse, then due to insurance went to generic Adderall. I found Vyvanse to work much better, so I think I solved the insurance problem and I'm going to go back on Vyvance soon after I finish my Adderall generic. I found no transition problem between the two medicines. All these meds are really the same sort of thing. But it isn't wise to mix medicines. I know doctors would not like this. It doesn't even sound like it is her medicine, she needs her own prescription.
Different meds work better on one subtype than another. You need to find out which on they have to start. Low dose Dexidrine I think works better on inattentive type ADD and SCT, where as Rittalin will drive them up the wall, overloading them causing mood swings mania etc. I have heard that Rittalin works best for ADHD. You will notice the effect within min of taking the meds if they are the right one for the individual.
Problem is im scared she dunno whats best to switch me to or if she should switch me to something and then still provide me with a single dose of adderall? What works best for y'all if you've grown tolerant to adderall? Also ive taken the adderall XR 30 mg and didnt really benefit from that alone. Suggestions please?
Taking amphetamine (i.e. Adderall, Dexedrine, Vyvanse), bupropion (WellButrin), dexfenfluramine, fenfluramine, furazolidone, guanadrel, guanethidine, or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (e.g., phenelzine) in the last 14 days" This quote is from - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phentermine You probably should read the link. I kind of get the feeling that the two meds should not be combined. Hope this helps.
I want to thank everyone for their messages, hope, inspiration, experiences, relating to getting off meds. I am currently in the process of getting off my adderall (Vyvanse). I've been prescribed 140 mg daily for the past 5 years and have been taking ADD medication for 10 years. I've never doubted whether or not I had ADD. The moment I was diagnosed and found some books and began to read about it, I felt like FINALLY!!! I knew I wasn't from another planet.
Is she taking Adderall XR or the intstant release? Extended release is better than the IR. Regular Adderall poops out With in 4 hours and makes for a hard crash and mood swings. 18mgs is acually a pretty low dosage for her to act that way. Any amphetamine can cause "bad behavior" its one of the side effects. But usually you see that with much higher dosages and with people abusing the drug for a period of time.
In this case, it seems like the medical professional is trying to ween your friend of of cocaine/methamphetamine by having them take adderall. This sounds kind of like what methadone (also addictive, although less than heroin) is supposed to do for heroin addicts. What I can tell you is that adderall is basically a less powerful form of cocaine/methamphetamine, and in my opinion is just as addictive.
About 6 months later I found out that Shire Pharm's offers a perscription assistance program for Adderall XR. My Dr. feels that my level of ADD is on the severe side, so I require a higher than normal dosage, 40 mg/day. I responded somewhat better. I didn't have the huge bursts of energy; I was more level. But over the past 2 months, I feel as if I am no longer responding to Adderall XR. It feels like my symptoms of ADD are accelerating. I am not quite sure what the cause is.
Vyvanse is a newer ADD med and I specifically requested something other than Adderall due to side affects. My doctor explained to me that because Vyvanse has a very good time release the boost is similar however not as overbearing and much easier as it wears off than Adderall because the "come down" or "crash" does not cause such a severe low. All ADD meds have their down side and generally the anti depressant is the counteract to this.
... Adderall will make anyone do better on a test, get more work done in the office, keep you more awake during the day, make you enjoy organizing... but honestly it is over prescribed. People who truly have adhd and add will feel centered and have control of there life when they take adderall. anyone can claim they can not concentrate in school, but that is not add or adhd that is life.
That would require me to take more than three pills twice a day, seven days a week to use up that many. I want my Vyvanse back! (Unfortunately, my new insurance does not cover Vyvnase, nor Geodon [which my Psychiatrist wanted me to re-try before Abilify].) Freaking out is fruitless, but I'm use to taking only 10 mg two to three times a day. Add an extra pill or two to it, and it's a lot for a person who doesn't like taking medication.
She took about 280 -300 mg of adderall all in less than a couple of hours was basically like on speed. She is 120 pounds, 16 years old and is about 5'4''. She couldnt eat and was having panic attacks, and puked, but refused to get help. She wouldnt let me help her and i was afraid of her. She crashed later about 24 hours after her last pill and slept for 13 hours. Then when she woke up on Thursday she went to school without taking her 25 mg cause her heart was still pumping.
I did and am amazed at how much better Vyvanse has been worked for me. I know everyone is different, but I responded poorly to Adderall at almost any dose. I would experience instense stimulation and then a crushing comedown, inability to sleep or eat, as well as, incredibly annoying sexual side effects. I went from 30 mgs of Adderall XR/daily to 60 mgs of Vyvanse/daily (Apparently 60mgs of Vyvanse is equal to about 20-25 mgs of Adderall) Anyway...
Would some other blood pressure medication work better than a beta blocker ? I just got into reading about different medications, and it seems that ace inhibitors are the preferred medicine for active individuals.
Last June I had a breakdown and I was out of state a a physician I went to put me on seroquel, lexapro, and vyvanse....along with my klonopin. This seemed to be working, then he added Adderall and I was amazed at this. I felt "normal" for the first time in 30 years. I could think straight, and as time has gone by the depression has gone. I take 30 mg of this a day. Recently, since the insurance said they would not pay for Vyvanse and Adderall the Dr.
Would it benefit me to go to my doctor and ask to be put on a drug like Adderall? A friend of mine was recently prescribed Vyvanse, and he has lost weight as well as doing well in school? There is a history of ADD in my family(my father and my brother both have it). I've gone on diets before, even been completely serious about them with exercise and better eating habits, but nothing has seemed to work for me.
Most of the younger people I know taking ADHD meds, by age that is below 18, take the meds you mentioned in your post. I personally steer very clear of Adderall and Ritalin, but Adderall especially. Best in health.
