Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting virus in children

vomiting

Avatar n tn My child was wetting the bed, extremely thirsty all the time and was vomiting; his vomiting, we think, was contributed to a stomach virus he had at the time. We took him to the ER due to dehydration -they did a blood chemistry and his blood sugar was 399-they immediately admitted him to ICU and he was put on IV insulin. He's been a diabetic now for 3 years-he's now 9. He's has handled it amazingly well!
Avatar n tn Day one my 7 year old child had fever, stomach pain and vomiting... last 24 virus.... but since them with exception of fever every 3 days she weaks up during the night vomiting and having stomch pain that last 24 and reocurring in a pattern of 3 days....I just took her to the doctor... I was informed that is a virus and I should treat only with antibiotics... I wonder if it is not necessary having blood test done...
Avatar n tn t sound as lactose intolerance. Viral diarrhea (Rotavirus) is common in children younger than 5 years, and some immunity develops after that, so it would be unusual to have 4 consecutive bouts of diarrhea from the virus. What is the color and consistence of his stool? How many times a day? He is complaining (or you suspect) about school problems? Any abdominal pain, if yes, where exactly?

Avatar f tn You are correct, Genotype "A" is a genotype for HBV. Because of this and the phrase "no virus found" in the context of a genotype (and stated HCV) it's difficult to draw any conclusions one way or the other as to the little boy's viral status. We can therefore only guess what "A" really stands for, but best that the poster, "aamirpasha" clarifies the situation. And based on wording alone, we may even be dealing with HCV/HBV coinfection, i.e.
Avatar f tn I have had ongoing mysterious symptoms for about a year. After a virus I had in April I started vomiting every morning like a pregnant woman, was dizzy and lightheaded all the time, etc. I could barely eat. The vomiting tapered off and ended around October, but I was left with the lightheaded feeling and would get horrible gas pains , so bad I couldn't move, and I also had more mild nausea a lot of the time. At the same time, since probably July I have felt the need to eat almost constantly.
Avatar n tn She has just recently had another stomach virus causing vomiting and diarroah. Other family members also got the virus but we have all now recovered. My daughter is still suffering with thirst, nausea , vomiting and fatigue/listless a week later. Do you think it is possible that she may be developing juvenile diabetes?
Avatar n tn I have read this syndrome is most common in children, later progressing to traditional migraines in adulthood. I have never had a migraine and rarely have headaches. Please let me know if you think of anything else.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced severe vomiting and diaherra around 26 weeks? I'm not able to keep anything down.
Avatar m tn This happens due to changing pressure in the canals of internal ear. However, if you are feeling nausea and vomiting on changing your position, it can be due to postural hypotension (fall in BP while standing or sitting up from lying down position), compression of cervical spinal nerves, or due to internal ear problems. Hope this helps. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining.
Avatar f tn Hi, My daughter is 4 yrs old, for the last week she has been complaining of abdominal pain at various times during the day. She has vomited 3 times in the last week, only at night just before she goes to bed, there is no fever. This evening the vomiting was quite forceful. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn For your son's weight and height he is normal for his age which is good. At this age children do become 'picky' eaters. Children learn by example. If they see you eat healthy, they will eventually eat healthier. For example if the rest of the family eats salads, vegetables, and fruit and he see it every day, eventually he may try some. There is hope in the future. Mealtimes can be a battlefield when children do not have an interest to eating healthy or eat very little.
Avatar n tn i took him to the er and they ran test but did not find anything.they said it was a virus. they gave him a prescription for phenigan. but he still is sick.
Avatar f tn The main thing is for her not to get dehydrated through the diahoria and vomitting so it is very important to make sure she gets her fluids. You can get Diorelite for children in blackcurrant and orange flavour. But my kids never liked them. When she goes to the toilet have a look what comes out. Also observe if she it scratching her bottom. Children can pick up all sorts of things and what you are look for is threadworms. These are very thin thread like white worms.
Avatar f tn maybe puree his food if its hard for him to eat ,the fever should go down soon.,if he is still vomiting in 24 hours I think you should take him back to see the doctor ,Good luck hope hes better soon .
Avatar f tn I am 20 wks n 2 days and I have a stomach virus. I can't keep anything down. I am constantly vomiting. Will this affect the baby?
Avatar n tn what are the symptoms of nor virus? is it running around calif now? This discussion is related to SOMEONE PLEASE HELP - SCARED - WHAT IS THIS.
Avatar n tn If the memory problem continues then do get him checked out. But do keep in mind that as children grow that can become selective in what they want to remember or what they want to talk about. No that he is better, take the DVD and television and any other electronic games away from his room.
Avatar f tn not likely at all. in theory the virus could survive but there are no documented cases of it occurring. the washcloth would have to have active virus on it plus still be warm for it to even begin to be a risk to someone. conditions hard to have in the first place. everyone in a household should have their own towel, washcloth, toothbrush, razor and body buff because very common germs are easily transmitted through sharing them.
Avatar f tn I have two other children that are 8 and 9 but havent had any symptoms or illness (thankfully), therefore we haved ruled out virus. My 2 yr old is doing much better and will have an upper gi in the morning. He has only had 2 bad nights since monday..(one was last night)... My 10 yr old is a little better and is also scheduled for an upper gi in the morning. He hasnt had an episode since tuesday night. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Avatar f tn I have had a tear in my esophogus. It was from vomiting then the stomach acid wearing on my esophogus. I went to urgent care because it worried me. I ended up on an h2 blocker to prevent it from happening again. If your Dr has an on call number, call. Get a consultation on what the Dr wants you to do if you can. Its very hard to say what it could be.
