Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting toddler food

vomiting

Avatar f tn He has a bottle of milk in the morning with no vomiting. He vomits undigested food at night, not just his dinner, but sometimes his breakfast.
Avatar n tn The vomit looked like pretty well digested food. He then vomited the rest of his food about 10 minutes later. The vomiting continued throughout the night in about 15 minute intervals. Subsequent vomiting was primarily dry-heaves which turned to vomiting of yellow/green bile by around 5 am. Every time he vomited you could see his stomach really tighten up. At around 5 am he had a couple of episodes of diarrhea that was very runny. The diarrhea also continued the next day as well.
Avatar n tn I am 6+1 and I haven't had the morning sickness kick in full force yet. I'm having to choke down food but no vomiting. I also have a toddler. Dreading when the vomiting starts! Maybe this babe will be a boy and I won't have any morning sickness because with DD I was barfing from 6 weeks well into mid-2nd tri. No advice, just empathy.
Avatar f tn t tell if we are dealing with behavioral issues or not, because he will go a month without vomiting and then go for 2 mos vomiting more than twice a day. When he is in a cycle of vomiting, he throws up sometimes more than 4 times a day. Worst times seem to be in the morning and at bedtime. So, he throws up in his bed quite a bit too. He has GERD. He has been tested for gastroenteritis, had done an upper GI, a CT and also endoscopy with normal results.
Avatar f tn My daughter has had proectile vomiting since birth that was written off as reflux until 13 months of age. When I told the pediatrician that she refuses to swallow solids (baby food) at this age, he referred to a GI doc who diagnosed her with eosionophilic esophagitis after an endoscopy. Since then she has been on a elimination diet and is NOT allergic to milk, nuts, soy and wheat. We still have to rule out eggs and shellfish. She is also on Prevacid daily.
Avatar m tn As a tiny toddler/baby switching to solid food---- he did indeed choke and gag on food quite a bit and it created a fear for him. He had trouble chewing which caused the gagging and choking issue. Is that the kind of thing you are speaking of? My son was/is constant motion as well. He is what they call a sensory seeker and bumps into things and actually craves movement for her nervous system to feel right.
Avatar n tn I am hoping someone can please help me. I have been taking my son to a pediatric gastroenterologist for 9 months or more now because he was refusing to eat and had periods of recurring vomiting (not cyclic vomiting) and very low weight. He was diagnosed with Noonan Syndrome (via genetic testing) and the Gastro put him on 30mg Prevacid for GERD. Nevertheless, the vomiting and not-eating continues.
Avatar n tn Not wanting to eat is not as much of a concern as not drinking is - a child can dehydrate very quickly and dehydration can be very serious, especially in a child. Dehydration will also happen a lot faster if the child is also vomiting and/or has diarrhea or a fever. Please do not hesitate - take your child to the ER. Please let us know what you find out and how your child is doing. Best of luck!
1615999 tn?1307461942 My son will be 3 in August and is really picky when it comes to meals. He just looks at something and says he does not like it. Now the past couple days he has been making himself throw up at lunch. Yesterday some tartar sauce just touched one of his fish sticks and he got mad and made himself throw up. He threw up all over all the other kids plates too so the sitter had to re-make lunch.
Avatar n tn t matter the amount or type of food she is eating. I have kept a log to see what times of day this is occurring as well as the food she ate. It really varies for the time from mid morning to late afternoon, sometimes even evening. The specific food doesn't matter either. Due to her stomach issues she has basically lost her appetite, however her pediatrician isn't concerned as she continues to gain weight.
Avatar n tn My 3 year old has a fever of 102, is vomiting, shaking, coughing, and has a runny nose. Should I take her to the ER at this point?
Avatar f tn a) she was hungry and somewhat interested in food - ready at her own pace and time b) because the food was coming from someone other than her frustrated parents AND c) my parents showed her a super fun and 'what ever you want' vacation for her. It was a break that she needed from us and from the vibe she must have been feeling at her own home. (I have sent her to my parents place in the past year on occasion in hopes that she would change....
Avatar f tn They told me that she was probable allergic to the food so I changed that over the past 7 to 8 months I have tried every dry food there is. Did not work. So I have been taking and soaking the dry food and mixing in baby food for her she seems to have a problem with swallowing. The last few days she is only eating the baby food. But if you watch her she struggles with swallowing but yet they can't find anything wrong with her. It is costing me a fortune buying baby food for this cat.
Avatar f tn Its tough when they are that little. Pedialyte will be of no help unless they have vomiting and diarrhea. As for meds, unless they have an ear infection or something bacterial meds won't be of any help. There are a lot of viruses going around now, including influenza... you should take them to be checked out by the pediatrician just to be safe.
Avatar f tn So my daughter has had trouble with vomiting 3-5 nights a week since she was a toddler (she is almost 11). She has been diagnosed with Asthma and a few environmental allergies. Her allergist stated that the vomiting is due to the asthma. However, I am starting to suspect the opposite may be true. I know vomiting is not good for her esophagus. She does not experience pain before vomiting.
Avatar n tn My boys do have many food allergies, so I monitor their diet like crazy, so this has REALLY got me stumped. My daughter never did anything of the sort.
Avatar f tn At this point I would think it would be a good idea to get her to a specialist that deals with children with eating disorders (for lack of a better personal diagnosis). Being that she is constantly vomiting whenever she is asked to eat. She was here in my house for a visit for 4 days and got sick twice. She starts to gag when you try to feed her anything. Who do I call?? Where do I take her?? Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I eat ranch on my pizza, pregnant or not. My toddler and husband like it too.
Avatar f tn ok 1st off your body needs to eliminate that bad food, so stopping the vomiting was not a good idea. I had food poisoning from a bad burger, I threw up for 3 days, heavy and often 1st day then tapered off and eventually felt better, Went to Dr on 3rd day, he said people can die from food poisoning and it should be treated. He said to drink lots of water and if i could, to eat saltine crackers, they would absorb the bad acids and liquids in my stomach and help clear it up.
Avatar f tn Not sure of the gender of the baby yet , but I'm addicted to my sons toddler snacks please tell me this is somewhat normal
Avatar f tn I have a 2 yr old that started with vomiting 2 weeks ago. Afetr 3 days of vomiting and stomach cramping almost mainly at night, he was admitted to the hospital for dehydration and testing. the Dr ordered blood testing, urine testing, and xray. He seemed to get better and testing showed nothing out of the ordinary. He was released on the third day, but began vomiting as soon as we got home. He was readmitted on the next day.
Avatar m tn Six months ago Lucy began vomiting her food several hours after eating. A few gags, up would come undigested food. Then George did the same. Lucy stopped but then the next day Gracie started, etc. All the dogs including the Pug have vomited on and off. Some for a few days, some just once and then not for a while. Per our vet: We fed once a day instead of twice, then tried three times. We switched from Iams to Hill's IB prescription dry food, adding plain rice.
436973 tn?1217947089 What food are you feeding your kitty? It would help if you gave us a bit more information. It isn't unusual, but it can hopefully be prevented. Twice in one day is too much if it's happening frequently.
