Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting symptoms toddler

vomiting

Avatar f tn my 2 yr old lost 3lbs in 13 days and my 10 yr old has lost about the same weight in 7 days. The toddler started with the symptoms a week prior to the 10 yr old. The cramping is so severe that they are up from 1 to 3 hours at a time in the middle of the night. My 10 yr old is an honor student and WAS very athletic before this past week. He hasnt been in school or been able to participate in basketball since his first night of illness... HELP!! My pediatrician seems to be as puzzled as me...
Avatar n tn Not wanting to eat is not as much of a concern as not drinking is - a child can dehydrate very quickly and dehydration can be very serious, especially in a child. Dehydration will also happen a lot faster if the child is also vomiting and/or has diarrhea or a fever. Please do not hesitate - take your child to the ER. Please let us know what you find out and how your child is doing. Best of luck!
1399155 tn?1280624978 i was wondering if its normal for a toddler to get blood sugars over 200 and not be a diabetic ? My son is 2 and we have had on 4 separate occations of blood sugar over 200 and one was over 300 , it is starting to concern me. I have heard that only diabetic should go over 200. yes i do wash his hand before testing my mother and a few cousins are diabetic so i have been testing him once and a while. he now is also drinking and peeing alot.
Avatar n tn I am hoping someone can please help me. I have been taking my son to a pediatric gastroenterologist for 9 months or more now because he was refusing to eat and had periods of recurring vomiting (not cyclic vomiting) and very low weight. He was diagnosed with Noonan Syndrome (via genetic testing) and the Gastro put him on 30mg Prevacid for GERD. Nevertheless, the vomiting and not-eating continues.
Avatar n tn My son is 3 yrs old. I took him last Sunday to the pediatrician for vomiting. Prior to that I took him 2 weeks ago for cough and chest congestion. My son has had a bad cough for over 4 weeks and starting on Sunday he was vomiting, naseous, complete loss of apetite. The pediatrician drew blood, ordered a chest x-ray and put him on a nebulizer treatment. He said that his chest was congested and the vomiting was probably due to that or a small virus.
Avatar n tn I am 6+1 and I haven't had the morning sickness kick in full force yet. I'm having to choke down food but no vomiting. I also have a toddler. Dreading when the vomiting starts! Maybe this babe will be a boy and I won't have any morning sickness because with DD I was barfing from 6 weeks well into mid-2nd tri. No advice, just empathy.
Avatar f tn When I went into labor I had similar symptoms. They told me vomiting and shaking were signs of beginning labor. Since you are also having stomach cramps I would call asap. Sounds like labor to me.
Avatar f tn Its tough when they are that little. Pedialyte will be of no help unless they have vomiting and diarrhea. As for meds, unless they have an ear infection or something bacterial meds won't be of any help. There are a lot of viruses going around now, including influenza... you should take them to be checked out by the pediatrician just to be safe.
Avatar f tn So my daughter has had trouble with vomiting 3-5 nights a week since she was a toddler (she is almost 11). She has been diagnosed with Asthma and a few environmental allergies. Her allergist stated that the vomiting is due to the asthma. However, I am starting to suspect the opposite may be true. I know vomiting is not good for her esophagus. She does not experience pain before vomiting.
Avatar f tn The other possible symptoms can be headaches, dizziness, chills, and abdominal problems, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. About half of all exposed patients get those. If you haven't had the muscle issues you probably have something else. If you are still worried see an infectious disease doctor. They can be more helpful than an ER. After 10 days then you start getting shortness of breath etc. So these are some guidelines.
Avatar f tn Sporadic contractions, first 2 hours 5 mins apart then for an hour 2 mins then for an hour 7 minutes apart then every 10 or 20 or hour, lasts anywhere from 10 to 40 seconds. What the hell is this, stomach bug? My toddler has a stomach bug we think, maybe. Jesus who else Iis going through this.
Avatar n tn He may have a digestive problem. Has your pediatrician looked for food intolerance?.
7677085 tn?1395374075 Okay I know this is the wrong forum to post this on, but my little girl (eighteen months today) has puked about eight times in less than twelve hours. i checked the toddler forum and the pediatric forum and they rarely get any replies, so I'm begging for help from mommies on here! I took her to her pediatrician and he told me what to watch for (danger wise). I'm looking for comfort techniques and advice on how she should sleep tonight.
Avatar n tn Thickening the feeds is known to improve the symptoms and reduce the frequency of vomiting. She also should be given oral rehydration solution to prevent dehydration. I suggest you to consult pediatrician. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I was given tablets by the doctor as I was the same and didn't want to get to the stage of being hospitalized with dehydration (already a mum to a toddler). A friend told me that they can give tablets of it's severe so might be worth a visit to your docs? I've been on them since 7 weeks and currently 12 weeks, came off them earlier this week to see if symptoms are wearing off, no joy so back on them lol.
Avatar n tn I took the twin who had the most symptoms to the doctor twice-first time they said it was a viral stomach bug (he did throw up twice). 2nd time-they suggested the same-a stool culture. That was today and he hasn't gone since. But my other twin is starting back up again. If they wake up again with it, I will take the culture from either one and wait a week for the results. Let me know if you know anything.
Avatar f tn t tell if we are dealing with behavioral issues or not, because he will go a month without vomiting and then go for 2 mos vomiting more than twice a day. When he is in a cycle of vomiting, he throws up sometimes more than 4 times a day. Worst times seem to be in the morning and at bedtime. So, he throws up in his bed quite a bit too. He has GERD. He has been tested for gastroenteritis, had done an upper GI, a CT and also endoscopy with normal results.
Avatar f tn I gained more with my second... Why ever . lol. Stretch marks stayed the same, except going further up in some places where I had some already. If that makes sense. Don't think I got any new ones. I'm 38+1. I also thought I'd be gaining less since I have a very active toddler..lol. and I've had nausea and vomiting pretty much just as bad as during my first pregnancy. But nope... :) I guess it's always different for anyone.
Avatar n tn Just continue close consult with your physician. For severe headaches associated with vomiting, weakness and visual symptoms, an immediate consult is necessary.
Avatar f tn Lol I got it all.
Avatar f tn 35 weeks, healthy big baby, but this pregnancy has not been easy. Lost a lot of weight from vomiting in the beginning til 6 months & now I'm swelling. Ready to meet my baby and get back to my normal self!!
Avatar f tn My breasts are incredibly sore. Had to buy a seamless crop to wear to bed which has helped significant. I am also very, very tired. I have been going to bed much earlier and even had a nap this afternoon. I am not a napper. Also quite bloated/swollen come evening.
Avatar n tn My son age 21 has had problems with nausea and vomiting, GERD, a large hiatal hernia and IBS since he was a baby all of which exacerbated his Asthma. He also had a congenital heart defect, which was corrected when he was 12. He had stomach surgery when he was 13. The Dr. removed his gallbladder, had a NISSAN and a feeding tube. He was in the hospital for 2 months after his surgery while the Drs were trying to find out why he was vomiting so much.
Avatar n tn Hi! I am not sure if GERD can be a result of a parent taking Suboxone. I'm sure it's possible. You could check to see what class of drug it is as it relates to pregnancy. However, I do know that GERD is pretty common in infants. I took my son, 9 at the time, to a pediatric gastroenterologist for chronic vomiting. (He's doing very well now!) There were so many strollers with tiny babies in the office!!! I asked the doc why so many babies.
