Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting symptoms of ibs

vomiting

Avatar n tn He has a lot of severe headaches in the back of his head and a lot of neck pain and occaisionally trouble swallowing. These things seem to be getting worse lately and I remembered the "incidental" finding and decided to investigate further. Any opinions?
Avatar n tn Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If still the symptoms persist, then you may need an antibiotic for the gut and would need to see a doctor. If after the antibiotic course too the symptoms persist, then there is a chance that you have developed either IBS or some food intolerance. In that case you would need to consult a gastroenterologist. Please go through as advised.

Avatar f tn Since all of those test were OK this is what they are looking at. I see vomiting is rare with IBS. The thing is her symptoms are stomach ache, vomiting, feels hot but doesn't run a fever, tho last week it was 99.4, she is NOT nauseous, she doesn't have bowel problems and no cramps, just aches -- she said her sides hurt, like the ribs but could be from the vomiting.
Avatar n tn Most of us with this illness spectrum either question ourselves or are told at one point or another that it is in our heads or it is IBS. For whatever reason, it seems harder for doctors to admit that they honestly don't know what's going on than it is to blame the patient or use a catch-all diagnosis like IBS.
Avatar f tn I used to work with a doctor who specialized in IBS and your symptoms sound familiar. IBS symptoms are (when treated by someone who takes IBS seriously, at least) usually treated with anti-depressants because the IBS symptoms are believed to be caused by the neurotransmitters in the gut and the meds can help (but of course no guarantee).
Avatar f tn I do believe that a lot of my symptoms circulate to the same issues i.e. anxiety. I have been a lawyer for a number of years and in high stress jobs. It may be now that my body is telling enough is enough. I will let you know how I go with the specialist on Tuesday. Also have an appointment with Psychiatrist in November to deal with the anxiety.
Avatar n tn I dry heaved from the ulcers, but I was vomiting from my gallbladder which I had removed a few years back, they symptoms of the two are very similar, and both are very easily diagnosed and treated. You might want to take prilosec before bed, or after dinner and see if something as simple as that helps. good luck.
Avatar n tn Her stool is usually very loose and the other day she had some white jelly or mucus like substance come out.During this time she has seen about 3 GI doctors and 2 bariatric doctors. One of the bariatric doctors felt that she needed a Gastric revision but it had to go through a board of his peers and they felt that it wasn't warranted. She has pains in her middle abdomen just about everyday,we thought it was IBS but she still have pains even after bowel movements and it continues.
5553333 tn?1369941048 If all the tests to rule out other disorders are done and found to be negative, then the diagnosis of IBS is made. IBS is diagnosed when a person has abdominal pain or discomfort at least three times per month for the last 3 months without other disease or injury that could explain the pain. The pain of IBS may occur with a change in stool frequency and may be relieved by a bowel movement. For now you can wait and watch and monitor your symptoms.
Avatar f tn Have you ever seen cases of IBS present with one-sided flank pain rather than abdominal pain? Stats/History: Healthy, active 34-year-old female, 5'6" 135 pounds. 2 prior C-sections, Hashimoto's disease (well controlled for 2+ years with Levoxyl), mild asthma Background: I traveled to Mexico (Cabo) in mid-October. A couple of days ago, I was asleep then awaken by a pain in my stomach, then i went back to sleep. Avatar f tn My 15 year old daughter has been vomiting every time she eats for the last 93 days. We have been to local doctors and to doctors at a Children's Hospital 5 hours away. This has been an ongoing issue for over 5 years but before this it only lasted for 2-5 days at a time every few months. She had a Hida Scan and Ultra Sound in 2008 and again this past November.
Avatar n tn as we are all different in food tastes and food likes these tend to differ from person to person but in general if u are allergic to a certain food that is your problem not ibs .in other words if u or me were lactose intolerant and had symptoms of ibs well then if we went on a lactose free diet the problem would be solved if u understand me ,,so when people eat and have symptoms of ibs they assiocate these symptoms with the food they have eaten and start to avoid .
5842324 tn?1375256880 Yes, one can feel very apprehensive when no answers are available and nothing seems to be helping with the symptoms. Usually, the symptoms of “severe bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pains” are due to IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. This is diagnosed by exclusion of other irritable bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease, celiac and ulcerative colitis. IBS also causes slowing of the gut. Other than this, since there is vomiting, you could also be having a bad gastric reflux.
Avatar n tn IBS is possible. Further evaluation can be done to exclude other causes, like GERD, anatomical abnormalities, ulcers or a motility disorder. You can consider an upper endoscopy and gastric emptying scan to evaluate the symptoms. If IBS is the diagnosis, treatment can include tricyclic antidepressants, antispasmodics, increasing the fiber in the diet, or probiotics. These options can be discussed with his GI physician. Followup with your personal physician is essential.
263988 tn?1281954296 ve stopped eating most of the offending foods, my gas is completely gone and so are my IBS symptoms. My skin cleared up beautifully. Well that is until I discovered another one allergy. UGH! The food is related to the other ones I'm allergic to so that would make sense. I'm on the tail end of that systemic reaction and feeling better each day.
Avatar n tn I had an ekg and it was normal. I have no heartburn. I do suffer from anxiety and IBS. I burp anytime of the day. It is so annoying and loud. I have been on medicaions but none seem to work.
Avatar n tn I have ibs and suffer from the most common symptoms of gas Diarrhea and constipation, but for the past month or so ive had severe what i thought as hip and lower addomen pain, it moves up towards the middle of my right side aswell, some days are worst than others it gets me to the stage i can barley walk, i have no severe vomiting but i do feel nauses most of the time, i lose my appetite and then it comes back again.. im not sure if its appendicitis or rumbling appendicits?
Avatar f tn Usually the symptoms of IBS are changes in your bowel movements (how often you are going and what is the consistency of your stool), pain or discomfort, often decrease in pain after having a bowel movement, and sometimes other symptoms like nausea/vomiting/fullness after eating/gas, etc. Pain can be felt in many different ways and a stinging and pulling sensation could be the way that you feel pain.
1701959 tn?1488551541 Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. While the blood in stools could result from the haemorrhoid, possible causes of the gurgling/ diarrhoea that may need to be considered include dietary causes, malsorption syndromes, chronic GI infection, parasitic infestations, GI inflammation, GI motility issues, IBS, micronutrient deficiencies, hormonal/ endocrine imbalance etc.
Avatar f tn After having an ongoing sinus infection for more than a month, I have developed a sudden alcohol intolerebce. Just one drink will give me severe nausea, vomiting and loose stools. I now have sulfur tasting burps, increased gas and continuing nausea. Food does sound appealing at all. What could be causing this? I have been diagnosed with IBS in the past, but this is totally different.
Avatar f tn Right now I find myself experiencing bouts of nausea, accompanied by an upset stomach and bloating. These symptoms will last week of two and then these issues seem to stop and I'll be symptom free for a few weeks or longer before they return. The nausea is very bothersome. It hinders my appetite. I'm hesitant to go out with friends because I know my stomach may get upset and I'll be too ill to do anything. Are there any medications my doctor can prescribe to alleviate the nausea?
