Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting symptoms ibs

vomiting

Avatar n tn My son age 21 has had problems with nausea and vomiting, GERD, a large hiatal hernia and IBS since he was a baby all of which exacerbated his Asthma. He also had a congenital heart defect, which was corrected when he was 12. He had stomach surgery when he was 13. The Dr. removed his gallbladder, had a NISSAN and a feeding tube. He was in the hospital for 2 months after his surgery while the Drs were trying to find out why he was vomiting so much.
Avatar n tn Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If still the symptoms persist, then you may need an antibiotic for the gut and would need to see a doctor. If after the antibiotic course too the symptoms persist, then there is a chance that you have developed either IBS or some food intolerance. In that case you would need to consult a gastroenterologist. Please go through as advised.
Avatar f tn Since all of those test were OK this is what they are looking at. I see vomiting is rare with IBS. The thing is her symptoms are stomach ache, vomiting, feels hot but doesn't run a fever, tho last week it was 99.4, she is NOT nauseous, she doesn't have bowel problems and no cramps, just aches -- she said her sides hurt, like the ribs but could be from the vomiting.
Avatar n tn Most of us with this illness spectrum either question ourselves or are told at one point or another that it is in our heads or it is IBS. For whatever reason, it seems harder for doctors to admit that they honestly don't know what's going on than it is to blame the patient or use a catch-all diagnosis like IBS.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! If your only symptom is vomiting, your problem might be something else than IBS. Do you have any problems with your bowel movements?
Avatar n tn You should get all your bloods checked again. These symptoms are strong with these conditions. I have also suffered with IBS for years and years, and have just found out that it might not be IBS afterall, but endometriosis. These docs never seem to get anything right do they? Anyway, I'd get more answers if I were you, because I knew it wasn't normal to feel so worked up and eventually found out it was due to these conditions. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn She has pains in her middle abdomen just about everyday,we thought it was IBS but she still have pains even after bowel movements and it continues. During and after eating she sweats especially from her nose area and her heart rate goes up.She has seen and currently seeing a cardiologist for her heart and is on medication, she never had heart problems like this prior and it seems like the heart rate is tied in with the pain and bowel movement.
5553333 tn?1369941048 I am a little self diagnosed with IBS but I did pay a trip to the doctor and he said IBS could be the case, along with lactose intolerance. I am supposed to visit the doctor again in a few weeks and I have been learning to control my IBS. Do you think IBS could be the situation I am in? Or does it sound like something else?
Avatar f tn 2 wks after return, I developed vomiting, persistent low-grade fever, and right-flank pain. The vomiting resolved after 24 hours; the other symptoms did not. Thus began weeks of tests through my PCP (urinalysis, a multitude of blood work, xrays, abdominal CT, pelvic & abdominal U/S) with all results normal. Discovered someone on the trip to Cabo was positive for Salmonella, so despite lack of GI symptoms, my doctor ordered stool culture & a blood test for Salmonella antibodies.
Avatar f tn I would suggest you go see your Dr asap .I had similar symptoms as you back in Jan and it got so bad I was in the hospital for 5 days .I was diagnosed with IBS.Now I am not saying that is what you have .I am not qualified to diagnose anyone .However, I do say with the symptoms you are showing you need medical care .Call your Dr and make an appointment or if your symptoms become worse go to the ER .You can easily become dehydrated with diarrhea and vomiting Please get checked out .
Avatar f tn Well that woukd deffinayrly make sense!i had ibs incounters too...
Avatar f tn My 15 year old daughter has been vomiting every time she eats for the last 93 days. We have been to local doctors and to doctors at a Children's Hospital 5 hours away. This has been an ongoing issue for over 5 years but before this it only lasted for 2-5 days at a time every few months. She had a Hida Scan and Ultra Sound in 2008 and again this past November.
Avatar n tn as we are all different in food tastes and food likes these tend to differ from person to person but in general if u are allergic to a certain food that is your problem not ibs .in other words if u or me were lactose intolerant and had symptoms of ibs well then if we went on a lactose free diet the problem would be solved if u understand me ,,so when people eat and have symptoms of ibs they assiocate these symptoms with the food they have eaten and start to avoid .
5842324 tn?1375256880 Usually, the symptoms of “severe bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pains” are due to IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. This is diagnosed by exclusion of other irritable bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease, celiac and ulcerative colitis. IBS also causes slowing of the gut. Other than this, since there is vomiting, you could also be having a bad gastric reflux. Other causes of slowing of gut are diabetes and hypothyroidism. To some extent electrolyte imbalance is also a possibility.
263988 tn?1281954296 I've suffered from IBS for at least 20 years, and it worsened when I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Frequently those who have hypothyroidism have IBS. I recently read on another forum that often times it's due to food allergies. I wished I would've found that about four years ago. That's when I started to discover my food allergies. I'd go several days without any IBS symptoms and was thankful. Then I'd eat an offending food and poof my symptoms had returned.

Avatar n tn Does anyone else with these symptoms ALSO have Fibromyalgia? Has anyone found ANYTHING to succesfully treat the GI symptoms mentioned above? There is no cure for Fibromyalgia, but there HAS to be something to at least TREAT the GI symptoms!
Avatar f tn After having an ongoing sinus infection for more than a month, I have developed a sudden alcohol intolerebce. Just one drink will give me severe nausea, vomiting and loose stools. I now have sulfur tasting burps, increased gas and continuing nausea. Food does sound appealing at all. What could be causing this? I have been diagnosed with IBS in the past, but this is totally different.
1701959 tn?1488551541 I went to the ER 2 months ago for vomiting and stomach upset and had a CT scan which came back normal as well. My GI doc want me to try meds that will help my intestines to relax... And my primary care said I can take it as needed to see if it helps. They don't seem to be that concerned but something isn't right! I am 34 years old... And this is driving me insane. Can you still have IBS even with normal blood work? Does this sound like it could be IBS or something worse?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with IBS years ago when I was much younger. When my IBS flares up I typically go through sudden bouts of diarrhea with stomach cramping. Sometimes I'll experience periods of constipation. I've been dealing with gastro problems for several years. Right now I find myself experiencing bouts of nausea, accompanied by an upset stomach and bloating.
Avatar f tn There is no cure for IBS, but you can do things to relieve symptoms. Immodium can be taken for management of diarrhea associated with irritable bowel syndrome. Do not take more than 16 mg daily. If symptoms do not improve following 10 days of treatment with maximum daily doses, then improvement is not likely to occur with further Immodium therapy. Immodium is generally well tolerated.
Avatar f tn I am a healthy 24 year old female but for about 2 months now I have been vomiting what I think is bright yellow bile every couple of days and am very nauseous for most of the day. I don't have insurance so I am trying to get some answers any way that I can. I know this is a very broad symptom, but it normally happens in the mornings and evenings. I am not pregnant and have been eating healthy. Any advice??
1939781 tn?1323781397 The most common GI problem that results in diarrhea is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and the links between gut problems, namely IBS and blood sugars are tightly woven and interconnected. Even the severity of symptoms is closely linked to the glycemic control of the individual. Meaning the worse the glycemic control, the worse the GI symptoms. High blood sugars make it hard for the stomach and small intestine to work normally.
Avatar f tn I've had this problem for years and Dr.s keep trying to say it's just IBS. I'll start with the fact that I have an intense latex allergy which causes blisters, hives and sweating when I come into contact with it. Other than that, I have no other known allergies.
