Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting mucus puppies

vomiting

Avatar n tn s basically impossible to tell what could have killed your puppy from the very few details you have given us. Can you elaborate some more on what happened? How old are the puppies? What breed are they? How was the puppy acting leading up to its death? Please furnish as many details as you can.
Avatar n tn Puppies can vomit for no reason or for very serious reasons. If she is vomiting AND has loose stools, she needs a trip to the vet ASAP! She could have simply eaten something that didn't agree with her, she could be infested with internal parasites, she could have coccidiosis, she could have Parvo, there is no way to tell over a message board so veterinary intervention is absolutely necessary.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum.....Has your puppy been vaccinated with ALL his/her puppy shots? What does the mucus look like? Is it thin and clear or thick w/any green or yellow color? My first thought is your puppy has something stuck up in his nasal cavity....However, this also may be the beginning of a respiratory infection.... Puppies cannot go very long without nourishment & the symptoms you describe will only get worse.....You need to get him/her to your Vet ASAP and have your dog evaluated..
Avatar m tn My dog was spayed 4 days ago. She began vomiting immediately and continued to until her death this morning. She was a pound puppy, a chihuahua mix, that we had for three weeks. The vets treated her with cerenia and I administered pedalite. She had no fever and a little diarrhea towards the end. Does this sound like parvo?
Avatar m tn My puppy has had no energy for the last three days she is normally a very energetic puppy. She also on her first day of being sick was vomiting up her food and water, seem depressed and had a strong brown/red diarrhea thats happened only once that day. Now she is not drinking or eating, her nose is dry and she seems to want to be left alone. We have observed the vomit sometimes is a yellow liquid and other times its a white foamy mucus.
Avatar n tn She is moving slowly and sleeping a lot. She had diarrhea yesterday and a lot of vomiting up until late last night, but hasn't had either today. She hasn't eaten since early yesterday morning and she usually 'loves' to eat! She does not look well. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn It could be something bad and I wouldn't risk it! Is there any vomiting? You need to head to an Emergency Vet ASAP! Intestinal blockage is the first thing that comes to mind for a puppy. (They will get into and eat anything!) Next would be "Bloat", but I do not know if it happens in puppies, I'd have to look that up....Good Luck and let us know......
Avatar f tn my dog had puppies three weeks ago and now i have noticed that two of the puppies have large knots on the right side for their necks what is it and what can i do for them?
1456473 tn?1365827455 we had her at a house where a 4 year old pom and 7 month old jack russell mix had vomiting and diarrhea for a few days but they both got better. she began being sick four days ago and she lost her appetite for a day or two and had mucousy diarrhea, then we thought she was better yesterday as she was bouncing like her normal self, eating and drinking fluids and passing normal stools but today she has had 2 bloody mucous bouts of diarrhea.
Avatar f tn Depending on your puppies vaccine status viral diseases such as Parvovirus may be the issue. Vomiting leads to dehydration which can be fatal in dogs and puppies if not treated.
3186206 tn?1344746964 Either way, make sure you see his Vet tomorrow......Puppies go downhill very quickly with vomiting and/or Diarrhea.....If this is Parvo, it can be fatal in just hours...... Good luck and let us know how he's doing........
1004300 tn?1251255067 Congratulations on your upcoming excitement! Taking care of puppies can be a challenge, but definitely worth the effort. First, has her pregnancy been verified at the veterinarian by ultrasound or xray? It could be that she only has one pup and doesn't seem very large to you. Many dogs become very restless right before delivery and their temperature will generally drop to about 99 degrees Fahrenheit from their normal (100 to 102). This usually occurs about 24 hours prior to labor.
Avatar m tn I have recently been given a female pit bull puppy about 8 weeks old, and she started having an outbreak of blisters a couple days ago and she's now vomiting and won't eat. I am extremely concerned and need information as soon as possible. Thank you!
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced severe vomiting and diaherra around 26 weeks? I'm not able to keep anything down.
7450908 tn?1390996321 After about one month a dog will ordinarily have a slight mucus-like vulval discharge and the nipples will start to become more prominent, erect and firmer. After about a month and a half, the dog's weight will ordinarily substantially increase (sometimes by as much as 50% of the pre-pregnancy weight). The normal length of pregnancy in dogs is about 65 days.
473883 tn?1322853038 I have a pregnant female who is 53days pregnant and i was wanting to know if this is a sign that she will be going into labor soon and I have not noticed her eatting at all yet today and we've been up for a while. This is my first time having puppies so i needing lots of help. Thank you for all the help.
Avatar m tn Parvo is akways a concern with puppies. This could be from stress, food, etc. try feeding cooked chicken and rice in smaller portions a few times a day. However, if the diarrhea gets worse, there is vomiting and the pup seems worse, do get it to your Vet right away and they can test for Parvo.
Avatar n tn One of the biggest dangers of parvo is dehydration because of the vomiting and diarrhea. If the puppy becomes dehydrated, the body's electrolytes are thrown off and all kinds of problems, not the least of which is a disruption of the heart rhythm, can occur. If the puppy is at home, give him Pedialyte. If he will not drink it himself, force it in with an eyedropper or a syringe.
1708784 tn?1356222414 i woke up yesterday morning to find that in the middle of the night my dog had given birth to 6 adorable puppies, she was great with them yesterday but this morning i woke up to cries from the puppies and mammy was also crying when i went in to check on them i found that mammy was huddled over one side of the bed shaking and looking pretty scared and the puppies were over the other side of the bed crying and all the bedding had been taken out from underneath the puppies and they were lying on t
Avatar f tn Good afternoon cuppy and let me add my congratulations to the new member of your family! I know you must be very concerned about his reluctance to eat. Here are a couple of other things to try in addition to what Dr. Lori said previously: 1) Try putting some of his dry kibble in the freezer. Some dogs like the sensation of cold and he may be inticed to eat it that way. 2) On the opposite extreme, try adding a little warm water to his kibble and see if he likes that.
1096512 tn?1384889778 If she did have the Parvo virus then she will be immune to Parvo. With Parvo they have Diarrhea that contains blood or mucus with a really foul smell vomiting, sometimes a fever and they have severe stomache aches. They can get dehydrated very fast.I hope that she is doing good now. Please keep us posted.
152660 tn?1291755571 Can you keep a better eye on her? I know puppies are tough to watch, but remember to crate train when you aren't home and always go outside in a fenced in yard or on a leash until she's a little older. Thinking you got her at 8 weeks, that's only 6 weeks for her to be at the emergency vet 3 times?!
Avatar n tn This may be no more than an upset stomach....who knows? But the important thing is if he is vomiting, and not drinking he could be in serious danger from dehydration. That is urgent. He will need to go on IV fluids probably, just to re-hydrate him. Please post back if you can, to let us know how it goes. Hope he's ok.
Avatar f tn Recently, i have had continuous flow of mucus and clearing throat of mucus. Exposure to air while driving causes a continuous clearing of throat and mucus. Last week it seems to be getting worst as i find myself coughing for no reason, pain in my throat, vomiting and shortness of breath some times with a bout of hot flash.. I now have to travel with a bottle of water. Everything does not subside until i clear my throat fully of mucus. During this time, i cannot speak until i clear my throat.
Avatar m tn id say get him to the vet pretty soon, vomiting and losing weight while still very young can be detrimental to the puppies health and could cause serious consequences if left to long. you don't want your puppy to get dehydrated!
