Vomiting jack russell terrier

Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting jack russell terrier

vomiting

Avatar f tn My jack russell terrier was in acute kidney failure last month and is now in chronic. Her blood work, off the charts in some areas, has normalised but her urine showed high protein and she has high blood pressure; she is taking enalapril for both of these. She is on Hills KD and has shown improvement in weight gain, appetite, zest for life, her coat looks fantastic. But I can't seem to control her vomiting for more than a few days.
Avatar f tn As a bit of trivia, in 1999 (I believe), the AKC voted to recognize the breed as an official AKC breed and the name was changed from the Jack Russell Terrier to the Parson Russell Terrier. Why, I have no idea, I just know that it was changed. :) How much are you feeding your guy? Does he get exercise on a daily basis or is he a couch potato? JRTs (I know, I know, but even with the name change, old habits die hard! LOL!) are FAMOUS for being wonder agility dogs.
Avatar f tn I have 3 dogs 1 male fox terrier desexed, 1 jack russell male desexed called Lucky, and another jack russell male called Benny who is not desexed . The jack russell who isnt desexed is 3 years old while my other jack russell is only 12 months who just had his operation for desexing. Benny was frisky before we got Lucky fixed but stopped for 3 months after Luckys op but now I found Benny on top of Lucky today.
Avatar n tn He's definitely a cutie! I would say he definitely has Westie in him, and judging from the spots on him, I'd say that the other part was either Fox terrier (possibly wirehaired) or even a wirehaired Jack Russell. I don't see any chihuahua in him at all, but it could be that it's just not visible because of the angle of this particular photograph. He's adorable, though, and as long as he's healthy, that's all that counts!
Avatar n tn He was having a good rummage around my parents garden and may have eaten some soil containing pellets from last years planting. He is a 10 month old jack russell/border terrier cross. He has been off his food and vomiting for 2 days now. They have given him an injection to stop him being sick which is working (although he did bring back up something they gave him to line his stomach this morning),and fluids to prevent dehydration. He is shaking constantly and has no appetite at all.

Avatar f tn hi everyone, my dog is a 4yr old jack russell terrier and today I've seen her urinating a lot, like maybe 10 times or more since 10am, its now half 4, this is a lot for her and seems a lot in general. It's not marking territory, its just unirating. Is it possible for dogs to get cystitis? What could I give to help her or do I need to give her anything?
Avatar n tn I have a 8 year old Jack Russell terrier rough coat. His promblem is a really foul odor comes from his ears. Is there any treatment I can do to prevent this odor?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum by not Medhelp. My Jack Russell Terrier, Samson, was diagnosed with Megaesophagus about 7 months ago. He is 5 1/2 years old. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips that can help prevent the food from not sitting in his throat. We feed him little bits of food throughout the day and "rub" him down each time. My vet said soft or hard dog food doesn't really matter. He had a very bad episode the other night and it just worries me.
Avatar f tn I don't know what this is, but it could be medication related...You need to contact the Vet that did the surgery ASAP.....Please, come back & let us know....
Avatar n tn Good Morning! I have a rescue terrier (jack russell & rat terrier), approximately 9 years of age. He is deaf and after 3 days at home found he has moderate to severe seizures. I give him between 150mg - twice a day...on his normal days. Abit more if his regular routine is going to be interrupted...i.e. out-of-town, large group of friends that he is unfamiliar with...then I provide 250mg, twice daily. Hope this helps a bit. It is a wonder drug for "LD." Good luck!
Avatar n tn My dog is a 10 year old Jack Russell Terrier who spits up after eating. He has had one epidose of Gastroenteritis about two years ago. He was treated with pills and hasn't had another episode since. He is on Senior "Nature's recipe" dogfood for digestive health but is still spitting up.
Avatar m tn Our jack-russell/rat terrier mix has a huge lump on the side of her back. She went missing for three days, but it looks like a baseball is underneath her skin it's so big. We do have several Airedales that like to pick on her (we don't know if that could have anything to do with it. Do have any suggestions of how we could treat this ourselves and what might of caused this huge lump? She is 5 years old.
Avatar n tn I think our Jack Russell is getting sick from eating tissues from the trash we notice him doing this and then the next day he acts like he is sore in the stomach area when you pick him up he yelps he doesn't want to jump up on us or lay on our lap he just paces the floor and pants but wont drink or eat much he shakes when he does lay down and he doesn't want to be bothered he doesn't want to go out to go to the restroom either
Avatar n tn She is going on 7 this summer and is a Jack Russell terrier.
Avatar f tn I've never experienced death in my life if it's a family member or dog, my Jack Russell Terrier I've had for 14 years we got her as a pup when I was born so she's grown up with me, she's starting to have leg problems and she's starting to go blind and I know sooner or later I'm gonna have to watch my baby girl pass, I'm crying writing this because I don't want her to go and I'm gonna miss her sleeping next to me and waking me up in the morning with her lit
Avatar n tn Pancreatitis is one of the more difficult diseases to treat. It is also extremely painful. If she isn't able to hold down water, I honestly think she needs to go back in hospital. The way pancreatitis is treated is by allowing that organ to rest through literal starvation. Same treatment holds for human patients too. The dog is given IV hydration and nutrition, nausea and pain control, and then you wait it out. Is she eating anything at all?
Avatar f tn Our 11 year old Jack Russell Terrier, Jackie, is battling this disease and it came out of nowhere for us. Up until 5 days ago, she was as active and playful as one would expect a JRT to be. At that point, she began to not eat or eat very minimally and began losing weight. The initial finding was that Jackie was suffering from a "raging" bladder/kidney infection. They gave her a SQ injection of fluids before we took her home.
Avatar m tn I have a 2 yr old Jack Russell with terrible looking nails. They are looking rotten and hardly grow. Lately he has been lickng them constantly. He has had a couple in recent months that have split on him, and got very painful and eventually we could pull the broke part off. Now the past few days he has become sedentary, and not acting himself, and his breath has become foul. What to do.
Avatar n tn My 12 year old jack russell type has a large growth from ear to under neck.He has had biopsy which came back benign but with some infection and cells which suggest fibroma? He has been on synalux and pred for over a week with no effect on the swellibut has helped appetite. As it is affecting his swollowing, I am looking for any suggestions of what I could do next. 640548 tn?1340553355 I do not recommend a Jack russell terrier...or as we call ours "Jack Russell terrorist" I personally will probably always have one, but in buying any dog, make sure you research what they are bread for. We found ours today trying to go after a coyote in our yard!!! I think the biggest thing I have learned is to research the environment they do best in so you can make an informed decesion! Good luck and let us know what you decide on!
Avatar m tn Oh Jack Russells! I know them of old. That little dog is terrier twice over, with a good dollop of incorrigible JRT in there! I used to have one. He was a dear basically very good dog, but he was an absolute little devil with peoples' feet!

Avatar m tn Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me... I have two dogs, they are both 11 yrs old and have been healthy their entire lives. About a month ago, one of them began coughing- a dry hacking cough that comes on suddenly or after what seems like some difficulty breathing. She is a jack russell terrier normally around 20lbs and has gained about 3.5 lbs in the past couple months, which I'm not sure has anything to do with her cough.
