592969 tn?1248325405 I will not feed salmon to my cats in the future, just in case that is what caused it. He is feeling better now with the antibiotics and is acting totally normal. He has follow-up blood work in three weeks, as this hepatitis can be a lfietime problem. I hope his bloodwork is normal and the bilirubin is down in three weeks.
Avatar n tn s the most important thing when it comes to food production (cows, pigs and chicken mostly) and to pets health too because a bad diet causes tons of problems in cats and dogs that go from vomiting to hair loss, anemia and even death.
Avatar m tn Definitely something wrong! I agree with everyone! Any time a kitty is vomiting and not eating there is cause to be concern. Especially since it doesn't take long for dehydration to set in, in their little bodies. Good luck! Let us know!
Avatar m tn these are caused by feeding dry food and are most common in male cats especially older ones.
Avatar n tn Cats are also notorious for developing IBD (irritable bowel disease/syndrome) that causes vomiting and or diarrhea. Because the food is undigested, I worry about a condition called megaesophagous and she is regurgitating her food, or some type of mass along her esophagus/in the stomach, or even inside her chest that is compressing her esophagus. I would HIGHLY recommend taking her to the vet and having a neck/chest xray to rule these things out. Blood work would also be highly recommended.
1566633 tn?1295341269 My sister have 5 cats. They were all doing well for the past 5 months. Unfortunately, 3 of them started to show signs of sickness that started last December 2010. I can say that they weren't improving ever since. We haven't done any intervention yet because we thought it they can recover easily. I am starting to get worried and I don't have any idea what causes this. I want to help them but I don't have enough resources to do this.

1565420 tn?1304572548 There are many causes of vomiting in aged cats including: hyperthyroid, Inflammatory bowel disease, constipation, food allergies, gastrointestinal parasites, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal cancer, and more. Your cat has not been to the vet for over a year. That is seven years in humans and a lot can change in 7 years. Please take your cat back to the vet and have blood work including thyroid testing, and a urinalysis.
Avatar f tn Cats can most definitely get sick from spoiled food-diarrhea, vomiting, the works. Depending on how serious the vomiting and diarrhea is, it may require immediate medical attention. I wouldn't let vomiting and diarrhea go on for more than a day w/out seeing a vet because dehydration is very very dangerous and requires IV fluids.

436973 tn?1217947089 How often is normal for kitties to have upset tummies? My cat seems to vomit a few of times a month. Often twice in a day then she'll be fine for a couple of weeks and then again twice in a day. She doesn't ever act like she doesn't feel well. Just throws up and is done with it. It is not hairbally at all. Shoould I be worried?
Avatar f tn Once one of my cats had an issue like this, with a lot of vomiting over time. She turned out to have some grass up under her soft palate, which was stuck up there and she couldn't vomit it out. A thread would have the same effect. The vet had to knock her out and physically look for it, but he did find it. Certainly before you would put her to sleep, you should ask the vet to do this.
Avatar f tn Gastrointestinal disorders are among the most common problems encountered in cats. Most vomiting and diarrhea episodes occur suddenly and resolve quickly. The causes are usually such as eating an unfamiliar food. However, some cats may have vomiting and/or diarrhea over a period of weeks to months. Veterinarians will want to ensure that the cat is not suffering from an illness such as chronic kidney failure, pancreatitis, or hyperthyroidism which can also cause vomiting and diarrhea.
Avatar m tn Perhaps looking into his stomach could help. Like I told you, health conditions and External Factors are the two leading causes of stress in cats. I believe your cat suffers stress caused by external agents. I know my cat’s behavior changed a bit when he was suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I prepare my cats foods and it has worked for me. But I was 100% sure my cat had food allergies.
