Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting headache in children

vomiting

Avatar n tn But it seems that her headache can come from nowhere, and in addition to that she feels like vomiting sometimes, but she never really does vomit. I have a scheduled appointment with her doctor next week, but I would like to have some feedback on what tests I need to ask for (I am very afraid she could have diabetes). Please let me know what could be going on.
Avatar m tn She is also Low Blood Pressure Patient. Some times vomiting also occur during headache. Please give me your expert opinion for this problem.
Avatar n tn Yes, these are all symptoms of type I diabetes in children. My child was wetting the bed, extremely thirsty all the time and was vomiting; his vomiting, we think, was contributed to a stomach virus he had at the time. We took him to the ER due to dehydration -they did a blood chemistry and his blood sugar was 399-they immediately admitted him to ICU and he was put on IV insulin. He's been a diabetic now for 3 years-he's now 9. He's has handled it amazingly well!
Avatar n tn Avoidance of triggers as mentioned above is one important management of migraine, both in adults and children. Both preventive and abortive medications may also help provide relief. Cyclic vomiting syndrome are usually associated with migraine in children. Discuss this with her attending physician for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn While I have never heard of headaches being related to any kind of reaction to insulin, I know from personal experience that horrible headaches sometimes accompany low blood sugar levels. While they sometimes go away when the glucose levels return to normal after drinking some juice, I have found that sometimes they stay with me for hours after a low blood sugar spell. So my first question would be: has your son experienced any low blood sugar episodes at all on days when he has headaches?
Avatar n tn myself a medical student was approached by my friend complaining of headache and vomiting. His mri is normal..opthalmologic studies were normal.. still he has severe headache and vomiting.. wat can be this suggesting. Avatar f tn He has been vomiting for a week, has a persistant headache, has a sore throat with puss pockets on his tonsils. Last week he went to an urgent-care center because he does not have a regular doctor in the area he is in yet. They said he had an ear infection, gave him antibiotics and sent him home. His symptoms have continued, so he went to the ER yesterday. They said he was dehydrated and gave him 2 bags of iv fluids. They did a quick test for Mono and Strep, both were negative.
Avatar m tn Lasts 4 to 12 hours, throws up 4 to 10 times... In Jan she ended up in ER, threw up about 15 times in 3 hours. Started throwing up blood. Was put on meds, lab results were all fine. Avatar n tn t sound as lactose intolerance. Viral diarrhea (Rotavirus) is common in children younger than 5 years, and some immunity develops after that, so it would be unusual to have 4 consecutive bouts of diarrhea from the virus. What is the color and consistence of his stool? How many times a day? He is complaining (or you suspect) about school problems? Any abdominal pain, if yes, where exactly?

Avatar n tn I have occasional episodes of extreme nausea usually resulting in vomiting. There is no pattern. I have had gastro testing, spleen, liver, kidney, pancreas, and bloodwork. I have had appendectomy, gall bladder removal, and hysterectomy. My Dr.'s have no answers or suggestions. Is there anything the Dr.'s might have missed?
Avatar f tn For your son's weight and height he is normal for his age which is good. At this age children do become 'picky' eaters. Children learn by example. If they see you eat healthy, they will eventually eat healthier. For example if the rest of the family eats salads, vegetables, and fruit and he see it every day, eventually he may try some. There is hope in the future. Mealtimes can be a battlefield when children do not have an interest to eating healthy or eat very little.
1624990 tn?1299290524 I have been searching for years, and have not been able to fine a Chiari expert in our area. I have heard, however, that some times Drs will see patients pro bono in certain situations. I am currently making contacts with Congressman Alan Nunnelee, to ask him to help my daughter be able to receive adequate health care. Mississippi Medicaid simply does NOT provide adequate health care to special needs kids. It's just wrong! There just aren't many options.
Avatar f tn Most migraines are harmless (other than the pain associated with them) but some are symptoms of something much more serious, like growths or adenomas in the brain. I say this because in 2003 I learned I had a growth on my pituitary gland, and if not caught by MRI, I would have never known. If left untreated, could become fatal. Some growths in the brain press on certain parts causing pain, pressure, dizziness and other symptoms.
Avatar f tn She does not run a fever, have diarrhea or a headache or any other symptoms associated with a virus. She also can eat during these times, but if she moves too much she throws up again. The first time that I took notice of it happing (I think there may be other times that I have written off to a kid being a kid) I thought it was viral....the second time coincidence....the third time I'm concerned.
Avatar m tn Hi, As mentioned from the other post, the initial symptoms include, but are not limited to, changes in taste and smell, headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, and stiff neck. Secondary symptoms include confusion, hallucinations, lack of attention, ataxia, and seizures. After the start of symptoms, the disease progresses rapidly over 3 to 7 days. Check with your doctor if you have these symptoms and to ease any anxiety. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn maybe puree his food if its hard for him to eat ,the fever should go down soon.,if he is still vomiting in 24 hours I think you should take him back to see the doctor ,Good luck hope hes better soon .

436416 tn?1213868340 The individual is often awaken 1 to 3 hours after sleep with the headache in its full-blown state. The headache lasts about 1 hour and attacks occur frequently over several days to weeks. Smoking, alcohol ingestion and napping often precipitate attacks. It would be better to discontinue clonazepam (an anticonvulsant medicine).
Avatar f tn Thanks ill try that :)
Avatar f tn Hi, my 2.5 year old headbutted me hard in the temple area this morning, while i was lying down trying to sleep. I got an instant headache, small lump and the area is sore to touch as tho bruised. I had 2 panadol and the headache seems to have gone, but just wondering if there is anything else i should be doing or do i just monitor myself and see how i go? I'm home alone with a 2.5 year old and a 6month old, so don't wanna be taking any unnecessary risks. Cheers!
Avatar f tn Ended up in the ER this morning with the same headache and severe vomiting. They finally diagnosed me with hyperemesis gravidarum (this is my third ER run in 6 weeks for vomiting hours on end) and said it was to be expected.
Avatar f tn S which also comes with constant nausea and at least once a month a bout of 24 hours of vomiting and fatigue so bad that i can not stay awake. I usually vomit every 20 to 30 mins and then drag myself back to bed and pass out again. Last time i had one of these attacks i vomited 29 times. When it first started i would also get a blinding headache but the last year it has just been a pain behind my right eye. This has been written off as another symptom of M.
Avatar f tn Its totally normal!
Avatar m tn There are also prescription suppository medications for vomiting. Once the child stops vomiting, attempt to give fluids orally, in small sips and portions so as not to cause vomiting again. This is an attempt to prevent dehydration. Signs of dehydration include, dry skin, decreased urination, flacid skin (meaing it is loose and not taut), and listlessness (even when the fever goes down). Seek medical attention if your child appears dehydrated as this can be life threatening.
