Vomiting green stomach bile

Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting green stomach bile

vomiting

Avatar m tn you might advise her to get her gallbladder checked out. Vomiting bile (can be yellow colored or green) is sometimes not a cause for concern, as if her stomach was empty when she threw up....this would be the reason for bile to come up. Like I said, if all is fine now...no more issues, Id say she is ok....but if it starts happeneing on a normal occasion, might check it out to be safe.
Avatar m tn Green vomit could mean she is vomiting bile. Bile is a green substance that is excreted by the liver into the gall bladder then into our intestines to help with digestion. She could have had a gall bladder attack. Is the back pain located by her right shoulder or in-between her shoulder blades? That is a sign of a gall bladder or liver problem. Gall bladder attacks tend to wake people in the middle of the night. She could have passed a gall stone.
Avatar n tn What causes vomiting light green bile, stomach and back pain, having no fever? ER doctors don't seem to know. CT scans and x-rays are unremarkable.
Avatar n tn My son has regular stomach problems about ever 4-6 weeks. His "attacks" hit suddenly, he becomes nauseous then projectile vomits a few times then wretches for a few hours with a severe headache; he's then weak and nauseous for the next few days. Today was a usual case of one of his "attacks" except he is vomiting dark green bile, almost the color of Nyquil - he has never done this before, plus his last "attack" was only 7 days ago.
Avatar f tn Hello the green in the stools is most likely from bile or something you have eaten or drank-like green kool-aid or green jello etc. The burning is because your electrolytes are off in your body and with diarrhea you get what is called Metabolic Acidosis. The acid is what causes the burning. It sounds like you have gotten a virus of some sort and it should subside in 24-48 hours. Your stool should return to normal consistency and color after that time too.
Avatar n tn Before that happens vomiting of bile juice (green-yellow coloured vomit) is a symptom. It happened to me after a total colectomy operation over five years ago and I was kept in hospital (with a nasal gastric tube to suck out the stomach contents) until the symptoms had passed and until I could hold down food normally.
Avatar n tn s way up to just beneath my sternum. Once it moves up to my stomach area is when I begin vomiting green bile. I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago and began having similar stomach aches at that time but no vomiting. I was also diagnosed with Crohn's disease last February however have never had such symptoms previously and know that I had Crohn's disease for many years before being diagnosed.
Avatar n tn I read about another person with this problem, it turned out to be a problem with incontinence. The patient had green bile, that is diffrent from me, mine is a bright yellow.
Avatar m tn has anyone suffered from green or brown vomiting. I had ovarian cancer which recurred and i was receiving chemo and then developed a partial small intestine blockage. went to hospital , no food then sent home brought back to hospital for surgery. After surgery developed a fistula which is being treated. Now at home, started to vomit green or brown bile. doctor took exray and it showed no obsttrution; only fluid in intestine. .explained may have a slow working bowel.
Avatar f tn With a gallbladder, usually bile is stored up until you eat something with a lot of fats and oils and then once the body senses high fat coming after the stomach it releases bile by squeezing out the bile..and helping break down the heavy fatty meal. Without a gallbladder, the bile just freely flows out whenever basically so normally people without a gallbladder should avoid heavy fats like cheese or the body won't be able to break it down and you'll end up with IBS-D as a result.
Avatar f tn vomiting did not come in my mouth is that acid reflux or stomach bile which causing green saliva ?
Avatar n tn No, I vomit whatever I have eaten, until my stomach is empty, however, I do on occasion vomit stomach acid in the middle of the night but I think this is due to eating something I know will cause heartburn/reflux.
Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Since its two weeks post surgery, it's unlikely that vomiting is related to anesthesia. The green colored vomit could be due to stasis of bile. It could be due to gallbladder disease or pancreatitis. Other possible causes of include bowel obstruction, inflammation of the stomach and small intestines from an unrelated source as well as an unrelated intestinal infection.
Avatar n tn Thank you so much! The "when the stomach gets too empty" sounds like it might be my dog. They only eat dinner when we eat. Since we were out late last evening, their bowls were still full when we got home. (Plus the frothy mucus thing describes it better than yellow or green). I'm glad I found this site.
Avatar n tn It's possible that it could be related to her surgery, however, it would be difficult to say that it is without having some testing done. The green colored liquid probably is bile, so it would appear that at least sproadically, she's refluxing bile into her stomach. Bile binding resins might help - the only way to know would be to try it. But if she's experiencing constipation it's going to make the situation worse.
Avatar n tn Depending on pup's age, its so severe with young ones on dehydration, the green is bile dumping into stomach, because the stomach is empty, bile goes into stomachs to help churn the food and send on down to the intestines, this is not good. Could have Distemper, need to know that first off, and got to go to vet...puppies showings signs of vomiting down the yellow/then greenish/brownish, need to be check for distemper,,,,,distemper can take a puppy's life... Has your pup got fever???
Avatar n tn Subsequent vomiting was primarily dry-heaves which turned to vomiting of yellow/green bile by around 5 am. Every time he vomited you could see his stomach really tighten up. At around 5 am he had a couple of episodes of diarrhea that was very runny. The diarrhea also continued the next day as well. After he started the diarrhea the vomiting seemed to subside which is typical of the previous episodes. The vomiting followed by diarrhea seems to be a pattern.
Avatar f tn If the vomiting produces a fair amount of yellow or yellow-green substance, it could be bile and it would reflect possible problems with the gallbladder.
Avatar n tn My brother has gallstones and today he started vomiting yellowish liquids which is bile, could this be from the gall stones? Or should we be concerned about the liver at this point??
Avatar n tn My boyfriend had his gall bladder removed last Saturday. He is now vomiting a lot of bile. He can't keep anything down. Even water comes right back up. He has suffered stomach problems for a few years now. He was vomiting bile before the surgery. Over the years he has been to several Drs and had many tests run. Endoscopy, MRI, gastro emptying study, hida scan and others...

Avatar n tn she went to her doctor (not er) and they gave her a shot to stop her from vomiting (worked for a while, maybe 3 hours) and they ran blood tests and saw her WBC is at 17, max it 10. when she got home from the doctor she started vomiting dark green bile. 3 times now within a hours. Please! if someone could help me please let me know.
Avatar m tn When there is sludge or stones in the gallbladder, removal is sometimes curative of symptoms of abdominal pain and nausea & vomiting. If the reason is due to a blockage of the common bile duct, the gallbladder removal doesn't take care of that since it's higher up from there. With recurrent right upper quadrant abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, evaluation of the common bile duct with ultrasound is reasonable to consider.
Avatar f tn I cant eat or drink anything. Not even water. Even the thought of it makes me sick. I can be in the middle of eating and all of the sudden, I can't eat it anymore and if I try I can't even chew it up. Just the thought of chewing and swallowing makes me very nauseous. And I am throwing up and gaging even when I'm not eating too. But the symptoms seem to come and go. Because of the not eating enough, I have diarrhea that's green.
