Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting dog diet

vomiting

Avatar f tn Missy dog vomits when she eats or drinks. She can only keep down white rice and small amounts of water at a time. Her stool is normal and stomach isn't hard. I am concerned at she can't continue to just eat rice. I tried boiling hamburer and putting a little in the rice but she vomited that too.
Avatar m tn My dog has been vomiting yellow bile and sometimes with food.. he has very little appetite. Vet visit last wed showed nothing unusual on blood work and exam. said to treat as acid reflux. Meds haven't stopped it and appetite is actually worse.. he is 10+ husky/shep mix.
Avatar m tn t much to be done for pancreatitis (particularly the chronic variety your dog appears to have) other than treat the systems and starve the dog until the flare is over. Your vet was absolutely right to put your dog in the hospital, withhold food, and provide supportive care with IV fluids. Sometimes dogs have to have nutrition support provided via IV as well for stubborn long-lasting cases. You will have to watch diet very closely. Keep fats to an absolute minimum.
Avatar n tn So many dogs dying suddenly, often young and healthy. Weird symptoms, often no warning. This is not natural or a coincidence. What dog foods are you feeding them or preventative medications are you giving them? This stuff has very lax safety standards, not like human food and products. They can put pretty much anything they want in your pet's food. We need to all get to the bottom of this. I watched a documentary that was very eye opening.
509877 tn?1315361694 Or is this a one time thing? I know not to let her eat anything but her dog food diet but I am still worried... Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn even dog food or dog crackers he gets diarrhea and starts vomiting anything he eats out in a form of yellowish liquid and excretes liquid as well. I was wondering if there was anything that could improve his stomach or if there's another better diet?

She eat a ham bone at thanksgiving and thats when problem started and thought we seen a bone in stomach in xrays but barium didnt stick to it when ran test.. Any help givin would be appreciated..Vet wants to do a 700 exploritory surgery now.. ???
Avatar n tn You need to get a diagnosis for this illness. Vomiting with diarrhea and lethargy are not normal for a simple change in diet. If he can't keep water down, that is an even bigger medical emergency.
Avatar n tn my lab is very lathargic and vomiting she wont eat or drink anything and its been 3 days
Avatar n tn s great that you mix lean real meat and safe veggies into their diet. How long ago did the 18 year old dog pass? My understanding is that the huge influx of dogs dying suddenly, young, and / or from unknown causes has mostly been prevalent in the last decade or so. I had dogs in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s who ate regular generic dog food and lived long healthy lives. My current dog has had endless health issues related to diet and food for about the past 6 or 7 years.
Avatar n tn My dog has been vomiting in the morning about once or twice a week intermittently for a few weeks. She is 5, a mutt (my best guess is border collie and husky mix?) and otherwise seems fine. Before and after she vomits she doesn't seem to be bothered at all and is active and playful. I haven't brought her into the vet yet since it doesn't seem to be effecting her very much, but since it is happening on and off for a while now I'm starting to get concerned.
Avatar n tn There are so many things that can cause vomiting. I was wondering what kind of test were done and does he have diarrhea? If all the blood work and other test are fine it is possible that he may have swallowed a foreign object. Sometimes a barium swallow is helpful. They assist the dog in swallowing a white, chalky, liquid and then take several x-rays over a period of time. Sometimes a regular x-ray may not show the object. I would go back to your Vet. and have them do some more test.
6066006 tn?1378860432 So she sent us home with Sucralfate and Pepcid AC to try first. After the medication, the vomiting has stopped, but our dog started to loss his appetite and drooled a lot. Then the family vet decided our dog will need an ultrasound to determined what is wrong. So we scheduled a appointment with a vet hospital and took his ultrasound. The result was the same, nothing wrong with the ultrasound. And she would want to run a different blood test to see if it would give us a clue.
Avatar f tn Oh, dog food will most definitely cause vomiting. For some reason, cats seem to love it. It's not good for them. Try to keep an eye on him when the dog's food is out. We always put the dog's food out for no more than 10 min. By that time, the food is gone and the cats have no chance of getting it.
Avatar m tn I'm very sorry to hear about your dog. hopefully it is something that can be treated. however if you feel that you can not keep up with the financial side of having a chronically ill dog, who would do fine with medication, you can often sign them over to animal welfare. they will find a foster family who will be able to take care of any medical needs. it is a hard thing to do, but in my opinion a better way than putting him to sleep. hope he gets better soon.
Avatar m tn This could be something more serious, of course. Any chance your dog may have ingested something in the house or outside? Is the dog eating, drinking, any vomiting or diarrhea, eating and drinking? If this continues and especially if the dog shows any other signs, a trip to your Vet is warranted.
Avatar f tn For over a year my dog will start to whine, chew on his lower region, usually around his groin, then throw up. After regurgitating and re-eating he feels just fine. He is very healthy and energetic otherwise. I have been working with my vet on this and he has had many tests and treatments.
4487133 tn?1355332064 My 15 month old English Bulldog has been vomiting for about 6 weeks now (daily, sometimes twice daily). If it is after a meal, then she throws up the entire meal. If it is not near a meal, then she throws up a large amount of bile colored drool. She eats only her recommended amount of Innova-Weight Control dog food twice daily (given to her in small amounts at a time) - No table food at all. She has been taking half a tab (37.
Avatar m tn My dog came up to me a lot and wants to site on my lap. cant stop adjusting herself. She seems to have a tummy ack. She pooped twice. she also pucked twice, clear bubbly maybe a tablespoon of fluid. what should I do. It must have been what I fed her. My mom told me to feed her raw hamburger. I think I made a mistake. what do I do now???
Avatar f tn But my dog also had a bout of vomiting after I gave her an over the counter wormer (she had had this before and been OK with it, but suddenly started reacting badly to it. This happened twice so it was no coincidence. I got her another, different wormer (from the vet) and with this there was no vomiting. So it IS possible your little dog's vomiting is a reaction to the parasite meds she was given...
Avatar n tn The vet recommended chicken with rice, and now has recommended the prescription diet from Hills z/d ULTRA Allergen Free. The vomiting stopped after i started feeding him the chicken with rice, but the diarrea continues. He seems to be loosing hair for the past 6 months and is constantly scratching himself. Also on a daily basis has a runny nose. Could this be allergies? or is it that his body is not reacting properly to the food that is given?
1360237 tn?1351816181 I would like to know which human foods i can feed my dog. For example i heard that giving a dog raw meat is good and i also heard it's bad. I do feed my dog normal dog food but i would like to treat him every now and then with different food. Also on the same topic if there is anything else a dog can drink other than water i would like to know please.
