vomiting

Avatar f tn They told me that she was probable allergic to the food so I changed that over the past 7 to 8 months I have tried every dry food there is. Did not work. So I have been taking and soaking the dry food and mixing in baby food for her she seems to have a problem with swallowing. The last few days she is only eating the baby food. But if you watch her she struggles with swallowing but yet they can't find anything wrong with her. It is costing me a fortune buying baby food for this cat.
592969 tn?1248325405 com A vet on CNN asked cat owners to NOT feed your cat any brand of cat food with wheat gluten in it (Fancy Feast has it) You can look it up if you'd like. Overall, consumers and vets agree that Fancy Feast isn't really safe to give cats. However, though, and this is what your cat may be going through, some cats will vomit when fed ANY wet foods. Well, you know your cat better than us. I hope he gets better, and goes back to his normal self.
Avatar f tn my cat is an indoor outdoor cat she was fine this morning and was mainly indoors all day today. this afternoon she started to vomit(looked like her dry food) shaking and walking off balance almost as if she was drunk. she did her flea drops but on her yesterday. what should i do?
747613 tn?1233526730 and her throw up contained hard cat food that she seemed to not have chewed properly and it also contained some kitty grass that we had bought for her and the other cats a few days ago. She was her playful self after wards. Again she threw up at about 12:00 a.m. but it was like a clear mucous and she threw that up in about 3 different spots of the bedroom and she threw up some of the clear mucous again at about 12:30a.m. after all that she seems sad and she'll walk around but she wont play.
Avatar f tn Probiotics and ginger capsules are widely available over the counter at health food stores and online as human products. The dose for probiotics for your cat is 1/8 of a human dose twice daily. Ginger and probiotics can be combined safely.
436973 tn?1217947089 How often is normal for kitties to have upset tummies? My cat seems to vomit a few of times a month. Often twice in a day then she'll be fine for a couple of weeks and then again twice in a day. She doesn't ever act like she doesn't feel well. Just throws up and is done with it. It is not hairbally at all. Shoould I be worried?
Avatar n tn Out of curiosity why have you allowed this vomiting to go on for 6-9 months. If this were my cat, and my cat was vomiting after each meal, you better believe I would have visited my vet a long time ago. Purina at best is not a good quality food. She probably has lost weight but you just don't see it. I would suggest making an appointment and getting her to your vet as soon as possible. Vomiting after a meal for such a long time is not good.
Avatar m tn these are caused by feeding dry food and are most common in male cats especially older ones.
Avatar f tn How can I stop my cat from vomiting? She is taking Clavamox drops and was vomiting after each use. I spoke to her Vet and was told that I should give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait for 20 minutes and then give her Clavamox. She is not eating and Vet suggested to give her baby food with the Clavomox. I am doing what I was told but my cat is still vomiting.
Avatar m tn Okay, I actually called the vet and the nurse suggested, before panicing, as she had no other symptoms, to put her on a 24 hour fast. Which is mostly over at this point. She's not puking now, but well, when I'm sick I stop puking when I'm out of food to puke too.
Avatar m tn My cat had a urinary blockage last April which resulted in us giving him special CD canned food diet and special urinary tract dry food. He gets plenty of fresh water daily and his litter box seems completely normal - no other medical signs of distress. He is not a long haired cat, and none of his vomit contains hairballs. I really don't know how to address this issue. In terms of "time and attention", I can only do what I can.
Avatar n tn I should say in addition that the cat has attempted to eat a few times but cannot keep food down for more than 20 minutes. He is not exhibiting any pain or lumps or anything in the abdominal area - at least not that we can tell by picking him up etc.
Avatar m tn Sometimes she can keep down a little bit of yogurt or a grilled cheese sandwich but that is about it. She has had 3 EGDs, CAT scans, ultrasound, and a ton of lab work. The only thing she has not done is a stomach emptying test but that is only because she can't keep the test food down for long enough to complete the test. There has to be some way to find out what is wrong. This has been going on for over two years and is getting worse.
Avatar f tn My daughter said she saw some dog food in the last batch of vomit from the cat, so he must have gotten a hold of some of that. Also, we are going to try to feed him more slowly because he was eating so fast.

Avatar f tn About a month ago, my 12 year old diabetic cat, Oreo, was hospitalized (vet and hospital on same premises) because he was vomiting after he ate. It was the color of his DM Purina food. Vet felt he should be hospitalized. He was in hospital for 4 days, on iv, xrays, blood work, etc. They couldn't find anything. The vet said he never vomited. Cost - close to $2,000 for 4 days for procedures and boarding.
Avatar f tn this pertains to just getting a cat OFF dry food....cans are very good too....but of course raw is the best if you are willing to do alot of research and preparation. when switching from dry to cans do the transistion slowly so not to cause a GI upset such as diarrhea....lots of other reading if you need more info.. http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2010/03/10/how-to-transition-your-cat-to-raw-food-diet-part-1.
Avatar n tn the dry food absorbs water and swells, and then they have to throw it back up. If the vomit looks like a semi-solid tube of partially digested cat food, that's probably what it is. You might want to check how much you're feeding him. In addition, talk to the vet about possible IBD problems. IBD can cause vomiting if the crisis is in his stomach. IBD can basically be called *food allergy*. If he is allergic to what he is eating, your cat should definitely be on a hypoallergenic diet.
1565420 tn?1304572548 My 17year old cat is vomiting up a lot of his food every few days..sometimes daily. I cannot tell if it's because of hairballs. Sometimes it includes hairballs, somtimes not. Does anyone know what might be wrong with him. He also sneezes a lot and has a runny nose. Worried.
Avatar n tn Hello My Cat Luna has been vomiting a little bit more than usual the past couple of days. She doesn't usually vomit more than once or twice every 2 or 3 weeks. Last week, I went away and had my mom cat-sit for me. When I came back and brought the cat back to the house, she's been vomiting BEFORE i feed her. Which makes no sense. Her food hasn't been changed. I feed her the Iams hairball care/weight control for indoor cats.
Avatar f tn He may have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or food allergy/intolerance. He could also have GI parasites. Vomiting without diarrhea can be caused by a number of illnesses including urinary tract infection, interstitial nephritis, hairballs, and even anal gland impactions, among others. Going back to your vet to resolve this problem is best, of course.
Avatar f tn He has appetite for the dry food but no so much for the wet food. In fact he licks the gravy only or sniff it and walks away. He burps after eating his dry food, eats quite often grass and sits now on the hunched up more often than before. He had an episode of vomiting twice 1 month ago , mainly water or foam and went to the vet who performed a urine test for infection but it was negative.
Avatar n tn I have recently started to feed my (16 year-old) cat a high protein diet (Orijen), devoid of all carbs, hoping to stay away from diabetes that way. Now the vet tells me that's a bad idea because a high protein level in food (anything over 40%) leads to the production of urea and actually harms the cat's kidneys. I am very confused. My cat is healthy, but which is the right food composition to keep it that way?
Avatar f tn Sounds to me like she may need at least an xray to see if there is a blockage in her intestines----This is very serious and urgent that you let the Vet do what he needs to do . Vomiting everything she eats was what caused my cat to have exploratory surgery to see if there was a blockage---thank God there wasn't but she was a very sick little girl..
