Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting blood while pregnancy

vomiting

During my first trimester I had very few pregnancy symptoms. At 12 weeks I started experiencing severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath and rapid pulse rate (100-110). Having a history of migraines, my doctors ordered an MRI and ruled out anything serious. By 20 weeks the headaches subsided and only came while I was vomiting and lasted for a short time (1/2 hour to an hour). But the nausea and vomiting has increased. Generally I go several days in a row vomiting violently.

Since all possible causes of vomiting have been ruled out, there is a possibility that this is cyclical vomiting syndrome. Diagnosis is made by a careful history which shows that each vomiting episode was similar to the previous one in terms of pattern, duration and symptoms.

Eventually they ruled out my heart and I continued to feel incredibly nauseous despite the three doses of anti-nausea medicine they had put in my IV. Once it was brought under control, they did CAT scans, x-rays and sonograms of my abdominal region. They checked everything! They found nothing. My appendix, galbladder, intestines and stomach appeared normal.

Periods During Pregnancy: It seems like at some point every woman has heard that their sister's friend's cousin had a period while they were pregnant. Or "oh I bled throughout my pregnancy and didn't know I was pregnant because it was my period!" This is a myth. Women often confuse any vaginal bleeding as their period because that is what they are used to happening. You did not experience a period; you experienced vaginal bleeding! This is a common occurrence and a wide misconception.

What part of smoking weed through your pregnancy is healthy for your baby?
I am under the assumption that it is stomach bile. Neither blood nor odor are present. She is nursing five kittens that will be three weeks old tomorrow. Their last check up was a week ago and all were deemed healthy; including Chelsea (mom cat). She has never vomitted before.
I also don't have any children, so I'm wondering if the nurses or doctors always take the babies blood after it's born and that's how they find out if there is drugs in it's system? I can't imagine the baby is going to be very healthy because she is barely showing (and she is tall and skinny) and she is 30 weeks along. Thanks again for the advice! I just wish I could tell her doctors for her and get it all out there.
I know none of you are Doctors and this is a touchy subject, but looking for your opinions on smoking pot while pregnant. Do you think having a puff here and there is alright? If you have nothing but rude remarks, please keep them to yourself. Thanks!
I had two more episodes over the next two weeks, one which prompted a visit to the ER. They did a CT scan, blood tests, urinalysis, EKG and said that from a medical standpoint everything was perfectly normal and that I should check with my ENT. I did this, and was told that I either had a flare up of Meniere's or MAYBE it was labrinthitis. Did a hearing test - no significant changes in 14 years. All he wanted to do was prescsribe me Valium and have me sleep through any future attacks.
hey, i know it is stressfull enough to worry about all of the effects of the newborn ,and at the same time deal with pregnancy,i am pregnant now and off of everything!! but my first pregnancy was horrible, because of being an addict, knock on wood my son was born healthy and happy,he is now almost 2. but yes, you do always have to think of the side effects of what you are doibng. like someone else said, think of how and what u go through ,well the baby is going through it 1000x's more, for real.
I have really bad hyperemesis with this pregnancy so ANYTHING can set off a vomiting spell. How do they monitor your clot while pregnant? I had the radio-active CT scan & WILL NOT allow it again unless they have an IV in my hand to give the meds as the needle they used was far too large & has caused issues with me not being able to use my right arm/hand. They haven't booked any extra appointments for me either so a little worried.
I was so thankful to come upon this issue while on google! I have always, well since I was about 16, seemed to spit up blood after vomiting. I was just wondering if anyone has the reason this occurs after the 3 years since this question was first asked? When I vomit I do strain alot and dry-heave. I do not actually throw the blood up but the blood always occurs after vomiting...while I spit. If anyone can tell me why this happens it would be so great.
