Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting blood in children

vomiting

Avatar n tn Yes, these are all symptoms of type I diabetes in children. My child was wetting the bed, extremely thirsty all the time and was vomiting; his vomiting, we think, was contributed to a stomach virus he had at the time. We took him to the ER due to dehydration -they did a blood chemistry and his blood sugar was 399-they immediately admitted him to ICU and he was put on IV insulin. He's been a diabetic now for 3 years-he's now 9. He's has handled it amazingly well!
Avatar f tn How much blood? If you are vomiting red blood you could have a bleeding ulcer and that is an emergency. I have had a tiny amount before and it was due to irritation in my throat. You should at least make an appointment with your physician. If you vomit red blood, become dizzy or faint or have black sticky stools you should go to the emergency room.
Avatar f tn If you're vomiting up blood on any occasion, run not walk to your doctor or nearest health clinic. This may be an emergency! (or at least a sign of cancer) Vomiting blood on any occasion is a serious concern (especially with the variables you express). There should be free services available for your area to check out. Avatar n tn Hi.. actually my wife is 9 weeks n 3 days pregnant n today she had blood in vomiting.. is this common or anything serious.... Please suggest..
Avatar n tn t sound as lactose intolerance. Viral diarrhea (Rotavirus) is common in children younger than 5 years, and some immunity develops after that, so it would be unusual to have 4 consecutive bouts of diarrhea from the virus. What is the color and consistence of his stool? How many times a day? He is complaining (or you suspect) about school problems? Any abdominal pain, if yes, where exactly?
Avatar f tn FTM, severe nausea, sick all day. Projectile vomiting with small amount of blood. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn hello, i am a 19 year old who has struggled with bulimia for 7 years. The blood in your spit and vomit is most likely a sign of damamge to your esophogus. If you keep spiting up blood there could be some very serious complication from the stomach acid, and it's probably buring a hole in your throat. I know your scared. your scared to tell anyone, of what your husband will say, what your kids will think. I know that fear.
Avatar f tn For your son's weight and height he is normal for his age which is good. At this age children do become 'picky' eaters. Children learn by example. If they see you eat healthy, they will eventually eat healthier. For example if the rest of the family eats salads, vegetables, and fruit and he see it every day, eventually he may try some. There is hope in the future. Mealtimes can be a battlefield when children do not have an interest to eating healthy or eat very little.
Avatar f tn maybe puree his food if its hard for him to eat ,the fever should go down soon.,if he is still vomiting in 24 hours I think you should take him back to see the doctor ,Good luck hope hes better soon .
Avatar f tn Hi there, My daughter had a lethargic/almost unresponsive period two days ago, in which we took her in to the doc right away. After doing lots of blood work, her blood sugars were 334. We immediately were admitted to the hospital where her blood sugars then were 60. The docs were baffled with this low number. Within a few hours it was back up to 225, with glucose and ketos found in her urine. They kept her overnight and monitored her levels, which were consistentley in the 130's.
Avatar n tn But it seems that her headache can come from nowhere, and in addition to that she feels like vomiting sometimes, but she never really does vomit. I have a scheduled appointment with her doctor next week, but I would like to have some feedback on what tests I need to ask for (I am very afraid she could have diabetes). Please let me know what could be going on.
1105389 tn?1258003525 i had this when carrying my first child and worst of it started at 4 weeks pregnant, it peaked at 12-17 weeks pregnant where i was sick 30 -50 times a day, this led to me vomiting some blood in small amounts, due to bursting blood vessels when retching, and the stomach lining being irritated due to volumes and frequency of vomiting, if your girlfriend has similar symptoms it may be worth seeing your gp/ or maternity consultant as this condition can lead to dehydration, if it not these symptoms
Avatar n tn I'm 7 weeks pregnant & this is my first time getting pregnant. My morning sickness (which lasts all day) started about a week ago or so. I can't seem to keep any food or drink in me. I end up throwing it up within 5-10 minutes of consuming it. All morning I've been just throwing up water and the stomach acid because I've already puked everything that's in my stomach out.

Avatar n tn I agree with ZQ. You need to provide more info. In any case, your cat should be seen by a vet. Blood in the stool is never a good sign.
Avatar f tn So I'll be 38 wks tomorrow. I luckily somehow made it up to this point in my pregnancy without morning sickness or anything. Today I woke up with a terrible stomach ache. I started to vomit around 3 pm and it was full of blood. I can taste blood in my mouth. The stomach ache hasn't subsided but hasn't gotten worse either. Is this ob related or more medical? Should I go to the hospital? Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar f tn ve heard of girls having this happen and being fine, but it is always better to make sure with this. Coughing up blood can be a sign of a blood clot in the lung or something serious like that. Tell them everything. Stay calm and good luck!
900720 tn?1241996271 The thing that you guys really need to watch for is how much blood she is vomiting, and what it looks like. If she is vomiting more than a tablespoon, or it looks like coffee grounds, then you need to take her to the ER because she sould have some sort of internal bleeding, or a bleeding ulcer....which the ulcer would be more of a guess becuase of the heartburn and vomiting. Make sure she gets plenty of fluids, because all of that vomiting will make her dehydrated.
Avatar n tn Day one my 7 year old child had fever, stomach pain and vomiting... last 24 virus.... but since them with exception of fever every 3 days she weaks up during the night vomiting and having stomch pain that last 24 and reocurring in a pattern of 3 days....I just took her to the doctor... I was informed that is a virus and I should treat only with antibiotics... I wonder if it is not necessary having blood test done...
Avatar n tn I too saw blood in my spit today morning. Not sure where it is coming from. I felt its coming from my throat.Just worried what it is?DO i have to see a Dr? This discussion is related to spitting blood in the morning.
Avatar f tn My 5 year old is suffering from severe abdominal pain. My other children had a stomach bug that lasted 1 day and without pain. They vomited a few times and it was over...they felt better. She had similiar symptoms about a month ago and the dr treated her for guiardia with an antibiotic and she was better after 2 days. She has been vomiting all day...pretty much phlem...and only feels better for a few minutes before the pain starts again.
Avatar f tn I would maybe call your pcp instead of your ob on this. Is it blood your vomiting or next blood tinged mucus? Is it red or did it look like coffee grounds. Could be an ulcer. Any history of GERD?
