Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting and your child

vomiting

Avatar f tn Mealtimes can be a battlefield when children do not have an interest to eating healthy or eat very little. It becomes the battle of the wits between the child and the parents. Slowly introduce new foods, and if he does not want it, do not make a fuss over it. Let it go and enjoy your meal. Try again in a few months. So relax and enjoy your mealtimes and let him enjoy his meals, too. Joyous meals are a better choice than a battleground when a child does not want to eat certain foods.

Avatar n tn my son has been vomiting alot lately and not sure why. He doesnt have a fever.
Avatar f tn I agree about waiting - the meds aren't going to do any good if he vomits it back up again. However, some medications it's not good to miss a dose, so you may want to call your pharmacist and just get their opinion - they should also be able to tell you what you might be able to give him to settle his stomach that won't interfere with his other meds.
Avatar f tn Sometimes this is severe enough to require readmission and IV fluids. If your child develops vomiting it would be best to return to the hospital. The low grade fevers are also to be expected as the inflammation resolves. Temps of 99-100 are very common but spiking fevers to over 101.5 need to be reported to your surgeon.

Avatar f tn Since I gave birth to my first child 4 1/2 months ago via c-section I have had epsiodes of vomiting and diarrhea.Several years ago I had the same problem but everything went aways once my gallbladder was removed. The episodes of vomiting and diarrhea last anywhere from hours to 2 days. I have recorded what I am eating to see if it is a food allergy but only thing i have found in the past week is butter makes me sick but not other dairy products.
Avatar f tn My child is 7 years old and she has an episode of vomitting atleast once a month. When she vomitts her stomache hurts really bad. I have taken her to a peditrician and they took her blood and told me that everything was fine. I just find this abnormal for her to go through this routinely. What should I do?
Avatar m tn If you have a pet animal in the home, make sure she washes her hands after touching it and do not allow your child to be licked by a pet dog if you have one. I would also check her out for parasitic worms to rule that out. I would also get some children's multi vitamins, the nice chewy ones, to give her one a day. When she throws up, look at the vomit to see what it is she is bringing up. If there is a lot of phlegm that is discoloured, she may be ill from a throat infection.
1502516 tn?1289753518 A 2 years and 6 months old boy, it's my friend's son, doesn't know any words, not even mama or daddy. When he was over 1 year old his white blood cell count was high, from 23,000, 17,000 and now 12/11,000 count. Which we don't know if it is really significant to his case. Hearing was tested and it's normal. The child was playing alone but when he hears the sounds of the TV shows he likes,he stop playing and watched. The child is picky on the foods he eat.
Avatar f tn If this is more than just a one type occurrence (if it happens almost every time she drinks the milk) - she could be allergic to milk. I had a milk allergy when I was a child and the vomiting and stomach pain were two of my main symptoms - I also had horrible headaches and leg pains. My allergy has gotten much better, however, I still find that I have trouble if I consume too much dairy at a time - headache, dizziness, upset stomach - so I have to be careful about how much I consume.
Avatar n tn I would have your child get a full physical. FULL, as in everything. Continue working with your GI doc. I had cyclic vomiting as a child myself and it was due to a duodenal ulcer. It was found after about 4 months a thirty pound weight loss. But once you've gone through all the evaluation that you could, there is also this to consider. https://www.webmd.
