Avatar m tn I was contacted yesterday by this Doctors nurse and I was told that I tested positive for ulcerative colitis and he wanted to see me right away. After doing some research, I am hoping that it isn't Amebic Colitis because it does cause liver pain. Unfortunately, I looked this up on the internet to get a better understanding of the diesease It is a type of protazoa that is commonly found foods or anything handled by an infected person that didn't wash their hands well.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have endo and ulcerative colitis. I did read somewhere a few years ago that it could be related, but when I talked to my gastroenteorologist about it, he said that they weren't related....I asked him because every month just as AF was about to show up, my ulcerative colitis would flare.
Avatar n tn I have an update! I have sever Pan-Ulcerative Colitis, diagnosed after 200+ on a calprotectin test and ileocolonoscopy. I've been better for a month or so, been taking Pentasa and more recently started on Prednisolone 40mg. Due for a review soon, but I feel it's not quite right as I'm still having a fair amount of pain, cramps, urgency (although finally no d&v), mucus and body aches.
483733 tn?1326798446 I just find it frustrating. There is a big difference between someone with Crohn's or Colitis and GERD. Thanks for the info on the Crohn's community but I am an ulcerative colitis survivor and my son is now having active disease and really need support in that area. It would be helpful if we could even divide the forum between intestinal issues and non-instestinal.

Avatar n tn I would NOT recommend you start smoking again as there are many other diseases and cancers caused by smoking. I also had ulcerative colitis, and I never smoked. You can read more about it in my blog.
Avatar f tn Inflammatory diseases of the colon which can present as UC include Crohn’s disease, ischemic colitis, radiation colitis, eosinophilic colitis, colorectal cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, and allergic reactions to medications such as mesalamine products, NSAIDs, and antibiotics.

Avatar m tn ve had GI problems since I was 12 but over the past 2 years they have progressively gotten worse to the point where I have lost 15+ kilos (I normally weigh 135 lbs and now I weigh 114 lbs) with no diet change whatsoever, increased nausea causing an inability to eat despite hunger, and vomiting spells at random (not pregnancy), on top of the symptoms from before including crippling GI pain after meals/eating small amounts at random, very visible bloating after eating, gas, the urgency to defecate
Avatar n tn I had a colonoscopy and the indicated I had diverticulosis one lower part of my large intestine..Then 6 mos. later I became nauseated.following diarrhea and vomiting.. Doctor put me on Cipro and Flagyl. The antibiotics cleaned my good bacteria also..I developed. C-diff 3 days later..I ended up in ER ..assumed I had ulcerative colitis..Staff at the hospital kept me so doped up on pain killers..I didn't know which end was up..
Avatar f tn I suffer from ulcerative colitis and now diagnosed with superficial bladder cancer (Ta, low grade). My bladder was perforated during tumor removal (TURBT) resulting in colitis flare up and bowels shutting down after exposure to leakage. Now offered biological therapy (BCG) treatment and worried that the expected stimulated immune response will trigger another colitis "attack". Thank you.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering from chronic ulcerative colitis (UC) over the last twenty years. I’m in control of it and lead almost a normal life. I’m currently on 3 grams of Rafassal (Mesalazine) and 200 mg of Imuran (Azathioprine). My last colonoscopy revealed multiple areas suspicious of low grade dysplasia (LGD) in sigmoid colon and recotoanal junction. There is also doubt they might be high grade dysplasia (HGD). My doctor advised that these LGDs be removed.
Avatar n tn For the last several weeks I have been getting nauseas every night almost to the verge of vomiting. Usually what happens is I get nauseas and then have a loose bowel movement and then I start to shake like i'm freezing. The only thing that usually helps is 1/2mg to 1mg of valium. Does anyone know what could cause this. I've been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis since I was 14, i'm now 40. And this is not a usual symptom for me.
Avatar m tn s no known cure for ulcerative colitis, but therapies are available that may dramatically reduce the signs and symptoms of ulcerative colitis and even bring about a long-term remission. Organizations such as the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America have chapters across the country to provide information and access to support groups. You can check with your doctor and join these groups. Regards.
Avatar f tn So, ulcerative colitis can cause that. It's most likely pus if it is yellow. To me this sounds like complications of your IBS or ulcerative colitis. Have you started the medication yet? Is it helping?
Avatar f tn If this is normal then inflammatory bowel conditions such as IBS, Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis will need to be ruled out. Since you do not find any relation ship to food except butter, it is unlikely to be celiac disease. Get stool tested for parasitic infections like amoebiasis and giardiasis. You may need to consult a GI specialist. Take care!
Avatar m tn Also, irritable bowel conditions like IBS, Crohn’s ulcerative colitis and celiac disease, which can cause similar symptoms can cause bleeding into the gut which is not visible to naked eye. So, an occult stool test should be done apart from stool routine and microscopic for ova and cysts of parasites. If these tests are not conclusive, then you may need a colonoscopy to rule out a colon condition like colitis, ulcerative colitis etc.
Avatar n tn I was told before that they "think" that I have ulcerative colitis. I was put on medication. But after it stopped helping, I stopped taking it, and I was fine. Then just recently I have been feeling horrible. Stomach pain, mostly on the right lower region, gas, bloating, nausea, fatigue, and sometimes stabbing pain in my right lower abdomen. I am not pregnant ( that I know of, I have an IUD) And this has been going on for 3 weeks, non stop.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in early stage. Right now I am talking Lialda 1.2 mg 3 tablets once a day. The above symptoms have totally vanished. But literally I am not eating any spicy food or fibre food. I want to know the diet plan.I really lost weight. I have a new problem past 2 weeks. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain.
Avatar n tn 2 1/2 weeks ago, i went to hostptial and had a flexible sigmoidoscopy, which was very painfull and embarrasing, and i am still waiting of the results, as the consultant took a whole load of biopsies. to this day i am still in pain with my stomach and suffering terrible diahrea, to a point when i have neva had so much diahrea in all me life, could this be IBS or the irratable bowel diseaese ???
