Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting and breastfeeding

vomiting

429615 tn?1204504480 I have a question. Does anyone know of anything that can help nausea. I'm now 7 weeks pregnant and I've been sick since about 3 weeks. I found out really early. I keep eating to try and make it go away which is what I did with my son and I gained 50 pounds. I really don't want to do that again but I don't know what else to do to make it go away. I tried Phenagran with my son and it just basically made me sleep. Just wanted to know if anyone had tried something that worked.

Avatar f tn Hello I had a baby 8 weeks ago vaginally and about a month ago I started to experience localized pain around my belly button I figured it was due to having the baby but then I started to get a upset stomach that has now turned into occasional vomiting and I have barely pooped in the last two weeks didn't go for a week straight with no urge I didn't feel constipated!

Avatar f tn Just an update on my problem.. I went to the doctor today and he thinks it may be an ulcer. I had my blood work done and just waiting for the results. Unfortunately I can't take any medicine since they not quite sure whats wrong and I'm also breastfeeding. I was advised also to abstain from spicy foods and acids. Praying for a good outcome.

Avatar f tn Vomiting is quite common from around 6 weeks and can last the whole pregnancy. Both my pregnancies I had severe vomiting all day everyday the whole way through. I wouldn't worry its very normal. Blackmore's pregnancy and breastfeeding tablets helped me heaps with nausea so I'd give something like that a try. All the best.
1499017 tn?1297462429 Honey and lemon are definitely helpful! When I was sick I couldn't keep anything in my body. I ended up going to the ER for iv fluids. I told them my concerns about not being able to get any nutrients into my body and they reassured me that our bodies store enough and that baby will get what they need. The main concern is dehydration. Everyone has been sick lately. Being pregnant while sick definitely makes it worse!
Avatar n tn The vertigo started 3 days before I delivered my third child which caused me to be hospitalized due to excessive vomiting. I am breastfeeding and really do not give that up. I refused Antivert and valium due to effects on the breastfeeding baby. I have also consulted a chiropractor who is not giving any other immediate suggestions.

Avatar f tn I am 9 months pregnant and I have experienced Hyperemesis gravardium my whole pregnancy (this is a horrid condition of severe nausea and vomiting) which has led me to receive IV fluids, home care, and in and out of the hospital. Amazingly enough the baby is healthy and actually a little big. I have a daughter who is 3 and is Lyme negative. I have had Lymes now since 1988. Some of you may remember from last year.
Avatar f tn If you are concerned babe is not getting enough you can go to your local Le Leche league meeting and they can weigh babe before and after feeding then after the puke and see how much she took in and how much came back up.

Avatar m tn Recent studies have demonstrated the short- and long-term benefits of breastfeeding both for mothers and children. Breastfeeding, especially if exclusive and prolonged, leads to significant reduction in hospitalization rates for gastroenteritis, respiratory infections, and sepsis in the early months of life[18]. The benefits for low-resource countries are even greater because breastfeeding is related to better infant and childhood survival[19].
Avatar f tn I had a c section on Sept 20 after 15 hours of labor and I just CAN'T breastfeed! I am crazy frustrated. I was sick the first 5 days after giving birth with vomiting and high blood pressure and OMG! The first POOP was a NIGHTMARE!! I was crying with the pain, spent over 5 hours on and off in the bathroom and it was my birthday! HORRIBLE! I got the Madela rental pump and trying to pump as much as I can but the days fly and I feel like I am not doing it as much as I should.

Avatar f tn s ok to take while breastfeeding, but what I read on the internet it says do not take while breastfeeding. I have a call out to the lactaction nurse but she has not called me back yet. Has anyone heard of the pill Soma and should I take this while breastfeeding? I would love to hear opions on this.
Avatar f tn less chance of diarrhoea and vomiting and having to go to hospital as a result fewer chest and ear infections and having to go to hospital as a result less chance of being constipated less likelihood of becoming obese and therefore developing type 2 diabetes and other illnesses later in life less chance of developing eczema Any amount of breastfeeding has a positive effect. The longer you breastfeed, the longer the protection lasts and the greater the benefits.
