Avatar f tn Hello, Nausea and vomiting are side effects that can occur with birth control pills. If your daughter is benefiting from mini pills then she can opt for other treatment options for acne also. Other than that she can opt for Mirena IUD or Implanon. There are several other options for the treatment of acne, like topical or oral antibiotics, retinoids, or Isotretinoin.
Avatar f tn Hi, my daughter was put on birth control to regulate her periods and for her acne, which was really bad. She was 17 at the time. Avatar m tn You're using regular birth control pills in a higher dose to replace an emergency contraception? Honestly that doesn't sound safe at all! Vomiting for 9 hours is a big red flag and I think you should see a dr, especially if you're still doing this. Definitely don't take any more pills because they could seriously harm your body.

Avatar m tn Although I know that my birth control pills prevent ovulation and therefore protected me from conception up until I began taking the antibiotics, my question is: would the antibiotics have interfered with my Apri enough to cause me to ovulate, in which case any sperm still surviving in the uterus from our "cycle day 15" sex would have had a chance to fertilize the egg? Secondly, we quite simply completely forgot to use a backup method last night, which was cycle day 21 for me.

Avatar n tn Birth control pills are generally safe and considered a good option for many women to prevent pregnancy. There are different types and working with your doctor to find the best one is the thing to do. This is between you and your doctor but it is untrue that taking birth control pills 'has side effects on your whole reproductive system" unless you consider it doing what it is supposed to while taking it, preventing pregnancy.
Avatar f tn suggested I go back on BC pills (which I have been off for about 4 years now) to see if it will help with symptoms. I started BC pills and took 1 month....I feel AWFUL. Horrible heartburn and nausea every single day. Heartburn so bad that when I lay down sometimes I feel like I'm going to throw up. I persevered and thought I would see if it worked itself out. After my 21 day pack was gone and I was on my week off.....all heartburn and nausea stopped.
Avatar f tn Hello, Since you had unprotected intercourse but you are having birth control pills so chances of pregnancy are less. If you are apprehensive regarding the status of pregnancy then the status of pregnancy needs to be made clear. To confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test.
