1998155 tn?1327298656 Tried all of those as well. Voltaren, Pennsaid, Flector patch, and even lidocaine patches. None have helped. I'm currently scheduled for a spinal cord stim trial. Hoping it is effective, but not banking on it.
Avatar n tn I know how bad it can be. I had a joint replacement in my left thumb but the implant failed and wound up having 9 surgeries, countless meds, procedures, etc. I don't know if you've tried glucosamine chondroiton. It can help rebuild cartilage if you haven't gone too far. It was too late for my hands but it may be helping other spots I have. What kind of doctor are you seeing? I get some relief from a prescription gel called Voltaren.
Avatar f tn He also had me putting 10 drops of pennsaid on my elbow 3x a day and lidoderm patches(which never stay on) but yesturday he switched it to the voltaren gel and told me I should get a cortisone shot. At last my question, is the shot going to help? I have been taking all these drugs and putting on all this oil/gel and I am still in pain. I'm not sure if my neck is the root of my problem or something else. It seems odd that it keeps switching to different joints.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Thanks. Yes I tried the Flector patches and cream and so far not any relief. I tried the Lidoderm patch and no relief either. I can ask for lidocaine cream. I think the muscle relaxant helped the other day but not today. Oh well, I'll keep trying. thanks all.
Avatar f tn Whatever gets you through the day, but don't overdue NSAIDS. They all have side effects, and you will absorb some of it into your body. But for occasional use, it's not going to be a problem.
Avatar n tn Voltaren Gel is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, commonly known as NSAIDs. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Voltaren Topical Gel is used to treat joint pain in the hands, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, or feet caused by osteoarthritis. This medication is for pain.
655875 tn?1295695107 Dontundertand, I don't have abdominal adhesions, but the NP and the surgeon figure I have adhesions in my hand. The Voltaren gel is supposed to help small joint areas but who knows, it may help other things, like abdominal pain. I'm using the other compounding gel I have now in conjunction with the lidocaine patch. The lidocaine doesn't work alone for me much but with the gel it helps a bit.
880900 tn?1467270141 That neuralgic pain is almost unbearable without it, and the gel takes the edge off so I can function fairly well. I do get nauseous when I'm overzealous in applying it, but I just take half a Gravol (dimenhydrinate) and I'm fine. It's good stuff!
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar f tn I have a shoulder problem and used to be on strong pain killers, but my doctor told me to change to heat rubs!
Avatar f tn A nurse friend gave me a sample of Voltaren gel and it worked great. I asked my surgeon about it and they gave me some samples and a prescription. (It' expensive, around $200 a tube. Now I use a compounded cream prescribed by my PM nurse practitioner. It has about seven different things in it. I know 2 of the ingredients are ketamine and lidocaine but I can't remember the rest. (This also runs around $200.) I find this works a bit better than the Voltaren.
230262 tn?1316645934 I was just given Voltaren Gel(diclofenac sodium topical get 1%) for my neck pain(spinal cord nerve damage) and muscle spasms in my shoulders. I've been using it for the past few days and it has worked wonders for the pain in my shoulders. It comes in pill form too and it is geared for arthritis and pain. I was surprised how quickly it reduced my shoulder pain.
Avatar m tn Hello. I know about debilitating pain. I have degenerative disc disease. It wasn't that big of a deal for 40 years...I'd just go to the chiropractor when I couldn't take the pain (should NOT wait that long) and be good to go for months, if I didn't do something stupid. In your posting, there's no history of treatment other than drugs. Does anybody know what's causing your pain? Have you seen a Neurologist for a NCT-Nerve Conduction Test?
Avatar f tn So I've had hip pain for about 7 months. I went to her after months of voltaren, metsal, Celebrex etc and she says it's bursitis and that I'll need steroid injections. If it is muscle how come it only got worse the next day when I stretched? And the voltaren didn't help. Also when I'm working or doing physical activity it kinda becomes numb but the pain comes later on. In the cold it's a focused sharp pain rather than all over. Is this signs of bursitis?
Avatar n tn I have found that the Flector patches that i use on my back help the pain in my feet. I cut the patch in half and use 1/2 on the top of each foot. Pennsaid liquid helps my hand and neck, where the Flector patches won't stick well. Now, if the swelling would just go down in my hands before noon so i can wear my wedding band . . . I wish you healing and blessings!
Avatar f tn I have no idea about creams and what to avoid but if you're that worried it doesn't hurt to call your doctor and ask or go to the er and tell them what happened. If you're hurting anywhere I'd definitely go to er.
Avatar f tn I helped my partner by rubbing some Volatren Gel into his sore shoulder as he couldn't reach. I washed my hands immediately after but didn't realise you should avoid it in pregnancy especially in the third trimester. I'm freaking out now, and I'm so worried about my baby! Help please.
9668401 tn?1405176684 Thank you so much for the info.and my doc is a orthopaedic neurosurgeons as well he has a good reputation of doing what is right!! But I will most definitely check out all my options. Thanks again!!
Avatar f tn well I got back from the Dr. (nurse practioner) She filled a script for lidocaine 5% and the amitriptyline. I put the patches on and they seem to help some. Will know more as the day goes on. If this doesn't help, I'm going back on the hydrocodone. Please pray it does.
9880688 tn?1414115647 but if you use it daily it really helps a lot. Basically I use the patch for nighttime and the gel for daytime (you reapply every 4 hours or so). Talk to your doc...the patches are generic now so inexpensive...I'm not sure if the gel is generic yet either....but I gotta tell you are worth the money. When my hubby was getting his chemo treatments he would get a shot once a week to build his blood cell count. They told us it was painful...oh yes it was.
Avatar f tn does an orthopaedic boot support both knee and ankle? I use Voltaren gel and take Tramadol twice a day.
Avatar m tn I was using a 150mcg Patch(s) and was able to completely ween off of the drug. I was under the care of a Physician and would recommend highly doing it that way as Marycarmel suggested. It is one of the strongest opiates on the market and nothing to fool with. I have had 6 back surgeries and am happy to announce that I am opiate free at this point and never felt better.
1187071 tn?1279369698 I'm glad your appointment went well Jamie. They would never start you off with the fentanyl patch unless you were opioid tolerant. There are warnings about that on every label with this. It would be very dangerous and his license would be on the line. Although, they could be talking about the lidocane patch. I've tried the lidocane patch. The lidocane or Flector patch is pretty safe. It doesn't stay on that well and I believe the gel works better.
Avatar m tn Ibuprofen will help some of the pain and will also help with inflammation. Voltaren gel is a prescription gel that is used on joints and will help take the edge off. Lidoderm patches, ice packs and heating packs may all help as well. Make an appointment with a rheumatologist to get started.
