Avatar f tn Lately I have been putting Voltaren gel on my forehead. I'm doing this to soothe pain from inflammation caused by increased circulation from running a lot. Is this ok? I know it takes away pain, reduces inflammation, and increases blood circulation. Also I got the blood flowing through some decadent veins and arteries on my skull. It is really annoying but gets better everyday. What do you think?
Avatar n tn Voltaren Gel is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, commonly known as NSAIDs. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Voltaren Topical Gel is used to treat joint pain in the hands, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, or feet caused by osteoarthritis. This medication is for pain.
Avatar m tn The FDA just announced that dicoflenac gel (brand name Voltaren Gel) often prescribed for arthritis pain is linked to severe liver damage and it can happen within the first month of use According to the FDA, this topical gel has been reported to cause liver necrosis (death of liver cells), jaundice, and liver failure some cases of which have required liver transplant and some that have been fatal! Despite these horrible side effects, dicoflenac gel remains on the market.
Avatar f tn I would love to hear feedback from anyone who has been taking Voltaren...I have been thru the mill with Suprytz knee injections, full series of epidural spinal injections, many trials of anti inflams, physial therapy etc. etc (all to no avail)... Two days ago my rheumatologist stared me on Voltaren and I am pain free for the first time in one year....I am afaid to get my hopes up as this seems too good to be true....
Avatar f tn I have a shoulder problem and used to be on strong pain killers, but my doctor told me to change to heat rubs!
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
655875 tn?1295695107 ve never tried it, but I have tried Voltaren gel, a prescription, which I thought did make a difference. It is very expensive. I also get a compounding gel from a special pharmacy (not a chain). They combine a bunch of things like lidocaine, ketamine and I don't know what else. That actually works pretty well. Any chance you could try either of those?
Avatar f tn This drug is the same thing that is in the Voltaren gel that I've been prescribed for external use on my osteoarthritis of the thumbs. I also have cirrhosis and I did some research on the drug. My hepatologist did give me the okay to use it, but after reading this FDA warning on possible liver damage from the drug (http://www.fda.gov/safety/medwatch/safetyinformation/safetyalertsforhumanmedicalproducts/ucm193047.htm) I've been exceedingly cautious and sparing in its use.
Avatar f tn It is probably ok if stored it in a cool environment. BTW, voltaren in my opinion outdated drop Dr. O.
Avatar f tn Along with marycarmel suggestions, you may want to try Voltaren gel which is an anti-inflammatory gel that you rub right where it hurts and it reduces inflammation and thus reduces pain and it may relieve some of the stiffness you are experiencing as well. Also, you could try lidoderm patches - they are non narcotic patches that contain lidocaine (a local anesthetic) which will numb the affected area.
Avatar f tn does an orthopaedic boot support both knee and ankle? I use Voltaren gel and take Tramadol twice a day.
880900 tn?1467270141 Hi folks! Have any of you used Diclofenac or Voltarin Gel for relief from general pain on thighs, etc.(and other large areas ... LOL? What was your experience? Did it actually relieve any of your pain? I've used the tablet form, but it made me sick to my stomach. Is this likely to do the same? Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn IF Voltaren helps it must obviously be a inflammation of some sort. Only problem is, Voltaren is not a permanent solution.
Avatar f tn So I've had hip pain for about 7 months. I went to her after months of voltaren, metsal, Celebrex etc and she says it's bursitis and that I'll need steroid injections. If it is muscle how come it only got worse the next day when I stretched? And the voltaren didn't help. Also when I'm working or doing physical activity it kinda becomes numb but the pain comes later on. In the cold it's a focused sharp pain rather than all over. Is this signs of bursitis?
Avatar m tn Ibuprofen will help some of the pain and will also help with inflammation. Voltaren gel is a prescription gel that is used on joints and will help take the edge off. Lidoderm patches, ice packs and heating packs may all help as well. Make an appointment with a rheumatologist to get started.
Avatar m tn I found relief by accident. My reasoning was the itching was caused by inflammation. So I used voltaren gel and it seemed to work. It stings in the beginning but after a few days I feel much better.
Avatar f tn Lidoderm Patches (they are generic now) and Voltaren Gel. The Lidoderm works by letting small amounts of the same numbing agent they give you when they work on your teeth. You can wear 12 hours on/12 hours off. The 12 hour off the Voltaren Gel would work also. Hope that helps!
230262 tn?1316645934 I was just given Voltaren Gel(diclofenac sodium topical get 1%) for my neck pain(spinal cord nerve damage) and muscle spasms in my shoulders. I've been using it for the past few days and it has worked wonders for the pain in my shoulders. It comes in pill form too and it is geared for arthritis and pain. I was surprised how quickly it reduced my shoulder pain.
Avatar n tn Is it a good idea for me to manage inflammation by applying Voltaren to the injury site or by taking CBD? Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn In most cases one is weaned off steroids. Yes non-steroidal antiinflammatories like Voltaren can control inflammation. Its also important for you to know that inflammation in the eye (uveitis) can cause cataracts also.
Avatar f tn You stated to me in previous post about voltaren eye drops that in your opinion they are an outdated drop. What in your opinion would be a better up to date eye drop for inflammation? (excluding nevanac as that one makes my eye very dry, gritty and blurry).
Avatar n tn I also use Lidoderm patches, which are a prescription. Voltaren gel is another prescription and I alternate that with the lidoderm parches. My doctor also wrote a prescription for a compounding cream. I getit for the RSD but use it for the arthritis as well. Mine has Fentanyl, Baclofan, gabapentin and a few other drugs. I am sensitive to a lot of medications so this is a good alternative. I have also done a bunch of procedures and some physical therapy and occupational therapy.
