Avatar n tn X-rays are usually normal in patients with Achilles tendonitis, but are performed to evaluate for other possible conditions. Occasionally a MRI is needed to evaluate a patient for tears within the tendon. If there is a thought of surgical treatment a MRI may be helpful for preoperative evaluation and planning. You can refer http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/ankleproblems/a/achilles.htm for more information.
Avatar f tn If it is that, what do you do for it. Do you need to wear a boot for this. Could I be hurting myself further by wearing tennis shoes and walking. I walk as little as possible. I have an appointment with an ortho doctor in two weeks. In the mean time, any information at all would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Vinod but maybe indirectly it will but please see my post of yesterday. I have had left Achilles tendonitis for 3 months now and I am told cold treatment is only good for reducing swelling and pain and should only be used for first couple of days. Because it restricts the healing effect of what small blood supply there is to the tendon. I am now 3 months with this condition and my left (back) ankle is twice as thick as my right side and I am right handed/footed.
Avatar f tn Lately I have been putting Voltaren gel on my forehead. I'm doing this to soothe pain from inflammation caused by increased circulation from running a lot. Is this ok? I know it takes away pain, reduces inflammation, and increases blood circulation. Also I got the blood flowing through some decadent veins and arteries on my skull. It is really annoying but gets better everyday. What do you think?
Avatar n tn I have had a nagging bout of achilles tendonitis in my left achilles that has lasted about 12 weeks. I talked to my family dr. about it and he gave me a steriod shot and put me on a low dose of prednisone for 2 weeks. It took down the swelling and I felt no pain. But it did no last very long. I have always been very active and an avid jazzerciser for many years and am on my feet ALL the time at work, However, my body fat percentage is a bit high-could the extra weight cause a strain on it?
778480 tn?1235826812 I have been struggling with Achilles tendonitis for a few months, after a high ankle sprain and a possible slight tear in the tendon, although this has never been confirmed. I am under the care of a Ortho, M.D. and have had some physical therapy There is not much if any pain involved anymore but there is still a good amount of thickness through the achilles tendon compared to the normal looking tendon on my other calf. My question is, eventually does this thickness go away?
Avatar m tn The FDA just announced that dicoflenac gel (brand name Voltaren Gel) often prescribed for arthritis pain is linked to severe liver damage and it can happen within the first month of use According to the FDA, this topical gel has been reported to cause liver necrosis (death of liver cells), jaundice, and liver failure some cases of which have required liver transplant and some that have been fatal! Despite these horrible side effects, dicoflenac gel remains on the market.
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar m tn Pain in the ankle could be due to sprains and achilles tendonitis. In your case as the pain is proceeding towards the arch of the foot, I feel it is involving plantar fascia also, causing plantar fascitis. Both these conditions occur in people who practise rigourous exercises, athletes, over pronation etc.Patients with Achilles tendonitis usually experience the most significant pain after periods of inactivity.
Avatar f tn Going to pcp this morning. Just finished levaquin for 3 weeks, didn't seem to touch my sinus infection. Feeling pain in my back like i did last year when i had pneumonia. So tired. 900662 tn?1469390305 I had a bone spur removed near the left Achilles in 2005- and the Dr said he removed 15% of my tendon, fast forward to now- I have Achilles Tendonitis in both now, worse than before I met a new ortho that says tendon should never be removed & I have I had two PRP (platelet rich plasma therapy ) injections from the new Dr. Two months now & little better, not pain free. Avatar f tn i have had bilateral lower leg pain for over 2 years now and still none of the medical staff i have seen know what is causing it. it began as shooting pains UP both achilles tendons, they put this down to tendonitis/tendinopathy with no diagnostic tests other than looking and poking. they have never been red or swollen!
155639 tn?1251738603 Hello, You seem to be having the problem of Achilles tendonitis. Even in mild cases, it can take weeks to months of rest for the tendon to repair itself as the blood supply of this tendon is very poor. It’s important to be patient and not return too soon to sports and activities that stress the tendon.I would suggest rest, ice packs and anti inflammatory analgesics till it completely heals.
Avatar m tn s not sore to the touch but seems to be spreading down towards my achilles and the lump in the middle of my achilles that i had the injection for. it looks like its bleeding very very slowly underneath the skin, its been like this for 2 weeks now and is starting to concern me. i still have the aches too, but my physio gave me a stick to walk with now which helps but i still have the twinges and aches i did pre injection. Any ideas on what this could be?
Avatar f tn I have a shoulder problem and used to be on strong pain killers, but my doctor told me to change to heat rubs!
Avatar f tn Thanks for the information. I will talk with my doctor about both of those conditions. It got so bad last night I felt like I had a cast on my leg. It felt numb, stiff, and achey all at the same time. It feels much better this morning though.
432312 tn?1265644974 This class of drugs are frequently given for urinary tract infections. They can cause tendonitis especially of the Achilles Heel. It is not uncommon for this adverse effect of the medications to manifest weeks after stopping the antibiotic. Take care.
Avatar f tn Wear a heel pad to raise the heel and take some of the strain off the Achilles tendon and make sure you are using proper supportive foot wear. For a rehab programme the best person to guide you is a sports medicine expert. Take care!
655875 tn?1295695107 Has anyone tried biofreeze? This is an over the counter gel geared for sore muscles and aches. Someone at church has a similar injury as me and swears by this gel. This gel also has really good reviews on amazon.com too. I hope this helps with the muscle spasms I have since I can not take a muscle relaxer. It will get it through the mail on Wednsday next week. Anyone here use this?
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar f tn You'll be fine.

493368 tn?1209757681 Mobic 15mgs has worked very well for my severe ankle tibial tendonitis and moderate arthritis coupled with physical therapy which helped restore my range of motion which was 60% lost at the time of therapy. However, the tendonitis can not be helped any furthe (I wear orthotics _ high top sneakrs and a splint brace to sleep at night) The mobic helps the arthritis alot for me & I've been on it 1.5yrs with normal blood labs.
Avatar m tn It is possible that my muscle infection (first achilles tendonitis then infected plantar fascia) are problems due to untreated syphilis?? I had and possible exposure 3 years ago.
