Vivelle dot use

Common Questions and Answers about Vivelle dot use

vivelle-dot

I had a hysterectomy in October 2009, I was put on the vivelle-dot patch. I'm on the lowest dose (0.05mg). I change the patch twice a week. I had my yearly mamogram (which has always been normal). I picked up the report today and it says: Findings: Dense and hetergenous breast parenchyma is again observed with minor asymmetry.
If your bodys been used to being on Vivelle, Id say it should be a rleativley short period of time that it will take to readjust to going back on the med. I did the exact same thing as you, I was on Vivelle for 3 years decided to experiment and see what happened if I discontinued ot, it seems to be ok for me, but of corse everyone is different. Personally I think Vivelle is a good product and if you need it stick w it.
So now I am just wondering if I am having a reaction to the vivelle dot. I have posted before on the hysterectomy surgery and won't go into that again. Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem...Don't know what else to do. Thanks...
has anyone out there using the vivelle dot consumed alcohol and had bad side effects? I have and am curious if others have... Please let me know what side effects ..????
I have been on vivelle dot for about month so far after dealing with menopause symtoms for the past couple of years. I love the stuff so far, feeling more and more every day like my old self and even starting to lose weight. The only thing is I am reading that if I still have my uterus (which I do) that I should also be on a progestrogen also because of endometrial cancer. It has me concerned and I go in for a follow up appointment in a week, is this something I need to bring up to my doctor?
I've been using 0.05mg Vivelle-dot patches for about 2 years and they're not getting rid of my severe hot flashes! Should I be put on a higher dose?
Unfortunately I ended up having to go back in for emergency surgery a week after for a ruptured bowel and because I was cut 2x in the same week i needed a wound vac for almost 3 weeks to help heal the wound. I was put on the vivelle dot patch when I came home from the hospital and started on 1.0 and now i am down to 0.5. I occassionally have a hot flash nothing terrible and for the most part feel ok..
Well, my Ob-Gyn is a great gal, she just does not believe in bio-identical compounded hormones...she has me on the vivelle-dot patch for my estrogen, but as far as help for my testosterone (which on last bloodwork was 0.2...yes, I mean 0.2!!!) all she is comfortable prescribing is a pill, and I cannot take pills that will affect my liver with my lupus and other diagnoses...BUT...there is a glimmer of hope...she did say she would refer me to an Endocrinologist who is up on all of the above...
Has anyone noticed your menopause symptoms reappearing even though you are using your Vivelle dot patch consistently? I am wondering if some of the patches aren't calibrated correctly with an accurate dosage. Because of my hormone sensitivity, my Dr. has recommended I change my patch every 3 days to avoid even a slight drop in my hormone levels. However, I have noticed sometimes I will randomly get a migraine even though I have just changed my patch that morning.
I use the vivelle dot. I also tend to get very painful breasts so it depends on the dose. The dot is a bio-identical patch.
can i use vivelle dot patch while on the hcg diet? My strength is 1.
Can this patch Vivelle-Dot 0.1 MG Patch cause Ovarian Cancer?
I HAVE HOT FLASHES AND INSOMINA ANXIETY HEART FLUTTERS... THE DOCTOR WANTS ME TO TAKE VIVELLE DOT PATCH IS IT SAFE AND LESS SIDE EFFECTS?
According to my RE, the estrogen supplement is not quite as important, but it is also added after retrieval to maximize your chances. By the way, I'm using vivelle dots too for my estrogen supplement.
I HAVE HAD A COMPLETE HYSTERETOMY AND MY DOCTOR PUT ME ON THE VIVELLE DOT PATCH AND PROMETRIUM CAPS (200 MG.). SHOULD A PERSON WITHOUT A UTERUS BE TAKING PROMETRIUM CAPS? Had blood work done about 2 years ago and my testestrone was high so my regular MD prescribed the prometrium caps. Had complete blood work 2 weeks ago by my ob/gyn. Blood work and hormones were all normal. He suggested to stop taking the prometrium caps and keep taking the vivelle dot patches.
Hey I'm in the prime of my IVF Cycle, I've started the vivelle dot patch as of 11/2 and ganirilex as of 11/3 if my cycle starts as scheduled on the 6th I will start my stim shots on 11/8 and hopefully have reterviel on 11/19 and transfer on 11/22. I could really really use a support system as I go thru this the HB just dont understand my moods and stress!
Hello ladies, i had a total abdominal hyster in Jan. 09. I was put on vivelle dot .1mg 2x a week. I have done well so far considering the hot flashes, mood swings, ect. I however totally lost my appetite after my hyster. I lost ALOT of weight, and being very thin already was not a good thing. I have been now adding a medication called Megace (a progestin) which is given to people w/ certain hormone related cancers and to people w/ eating disorders.
Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
Do you alternate sides when replacing patch...and be cerain its lower than belly button. dont let hands touch sticky part of vivelle dot.or patch, its easy to absorb into hands and thus not give esrogen to proper area. Your dose is a very common dose..I think you should give it sometime..As I am not a Dr I also think you should phone him and discuss this. here is what happened to me..many hot flashes first several weeks...
only they took it all..I have a lot of good to say about estrogen replacement//Im on the vivelle dot which is a patch that you apply 2 times per week. its increased my happiness, Im not hot flashing and not a basket case of nerves...ask your doc about it..
Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine.
I'm also on the vivelle dot patch (.075 strength) and have just recently 50 mg of progesterone (which I take orally, but many prefer to use as a cream or gel transdermally). I'd ask your doctor about adding some progesterone to your regimen. Just my thought :-) Good luck!
We tried Angeliq for 4 months but my hair became dry and brittle and I had breakthrough bleeding that became continuous until the end of April when I stopped taking it. At that time, my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot - two .1 mg patches changing them 3 times a week. This month I started using 100 mg of Prometrium inserted in my vagina (to be used for 12 days).
MY BLOOD SUGARS HAVE BEEN BETWEEN 58-78 UP TO TWO HOURS AFTER EATING A MEAL,,,,AND EVEN AFTER SWEETS,,,,,IS THIS A SIDE EFFECT OF THE HRT (VIVELLE DOT),,OR SOMETHING I NEED TO QUESTION MY FAMILY PHYSICIAN ABOUT? I'VE BEEN DIAGNOSED BEFORE WITH LOW BLOOD SUGAR,,,BUT HAD SPOTS IN MY VISION AND LIGHTHEADED,,,I'M NOT HAVING ANY OF THOSE PROBLEMS NOW,,JUST LOW READINGS. I'M NOT OVERWEIGHT,,,EAT NORMAL AND WATCH MY SUGAR INTAKE.
I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point). When I was first put on the med, I had the occasional hot flash until my body got use to the lower dosage of estrogen. How my doctor put it was..
Oh great one of the side effects of vivelle dot patch is back ache,,that explains my lower back pain,,,it did happen after going on vivelle, but i am thinking clearer maybe it willl go away
I can totally relate. After giving birth my hair thinned so much there was hair all over the house. My husband became so worried that I was going bald! Now, it's slowly coming back. I've got so much baby hair it's weird looking at my head, there's short hairs standing everywhere. It's not just HRT's. If there's any changes in hormones it can drastically make your hair grow or fall out. Unfortunately, it's not the same for everybody. I can suggest some things I tried that worked for me: 1.
Oh just an FYI. The vivelle, vivelle dot and Climara are all bioidentical hormones like Kate was talking about. They are supposed to be very similar to our own hormones, but they are still not our own :( Take it from me though, they are great.
