7649183 tn?1393014236 Hi, I had a hysterectomy years ago and have been taking the estradiol pill for years. I started recently using the patch since I thought it would be better for my liver and a more natural way to get the estrogen. I'm doing this to protect again osteoporosis. I take Vivelle-Dot lowest dose--.025. I feel fine, but my breasts are sore. They never were when taking the estradiol pill--.05/day.
718868 tn?1230730029 only they took it all..I have a lot of good to say about estrogen replacement//Im on the vivelle dot which is a patch that you apply 2 times per week. its increased my happiness, Im not hot flashing and not a basket case of nerves...ask your doc about it..
Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.
Avatar f tn I'm almost 60 years old and have been experiencing severe hot flashes for years. A couple years ago I was put on 0.05mg Vivelle-dot patches. I'm still having the flashes. My forehead, especially, sweats a lot wetting my bangs completely! Would going on a higher dose of Vivelle stop the hot flashes? I want to keep on bioidentical-type remedies and wondered if something else included/instead of would do the trick. I'd greatly appreciate help!
Avatar n tn Thanks for your comments. My gyn did indeed give me Vivelle patches last week but I have not begun using them as of yet. Your recommendation of getting the blood work first was helpful. Since I just saw my gyn, I have an appointment with my PC in a few weeks and will ask him for the blood work you mentioned. I now plan to hold on to the patches until I get some sort of confirmation about the amount of estrogen my ovaries may/may not be producing. :Your info was helpful.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy in October 2009, I was put on the vivelle-dot patch. I'm on the lowest dose (0.05mg). I change the patch twice a week. I had my yearly mamogram (which has always been normal). I picked up the report today and it says: Findings: Dense and hetergenous breast parenchyma is again observed with minor asymmetry.
Avatar f tn Some women find that trying a different brand can make a world of difference such as switching from Vivelle-Dot or Minivelle (3 day patch) to Climara (7 day patch). They have different adhesives that can affect uptake of the estrogen. The Vivelle-Dot did not work well for me and I didn't know any better to try Climara. If the patch doesn't work out, there are pills, gels, and vaginal rings you can try. Hope you find something that helps soon! I know how desperate it can feel!
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi, I'm on a HRT (Vivelle-Dot) but I'm also a limbolander, but I might be of some help. I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point).
Avatar f tn Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
Avatar f tn Do any of you have suggestions? I noticed someone was on Climera and another was on the Vivelle w/ Prometrium. What dose of prometrium do you take? While I still feel better than I did before my hyst. (pain wise anyway) there has to be some way to control these hot flashes!
Avatar n tn I am concerned about the vivelle patches. I use them twice a week (two patches) and have read about the use being dangerous in pregnancy. Is this true ?? Does anyone know about these patches and have you used them? I did not use them the first round and had success.so i really am not sure why we are using them now..the doctor simply said it was used to decreased spotting and it is new to the protocol..
Avatar n tn To help me avoid radical menopause sypmtoms, my doctor immediately started me on a .5 mg. Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel.
Avatar f tn I had a TAH two weeks ago and started on vivelle dot. My gyn says I dont need progesterone cream, but I am reading otherwise....Does anyone know if I can get it over the counter or does it require a RX?? Just wondering, because if I need it, I want it!
901431 tn?1242066034 Thank you, Yeah Im on Endometrin a progesterone insert and also on Vivelle dot patches. Im going in monday for a US but didnt think they could see anything yet since im only 5 weeks.
7686438 tn?1393681527 The only thing that can help with the horrible night sweats and terrible dreams of menopause is to replace the very hormone that is lacking for which reason you are having the symptoms. Estrogen patches of the bio-identical hormone Vivelle dots can address this. After trying everything else under the sun, this is the only thing that relieves these symptoms. They usually make you take bio-identical progesterone along with it (Progesterone in oil 100 mg.
Avatar f tn there are patches, sprays, creames, I used Vivelle dot a estrogen patch..helped me alot...my only symptoms where really bad night sweats (this tends to happen post op and eases up after bodys not shocked by the surgery) yes they can continue but not as bad as first month...also I had hot flashes mild by what some have described. Im going to tell you what I would do, If I was you honestly Id tell them to take my ovaries. If you were in your twenties I may say different.
178345 tn?1242536246 Girls - I know I should maybe post this elsewhere but since you guys are my friends and know so much I was just wondering if anyone here that is on the vivelle-dot patch have any side effects from it..for 2 days I have this drawing pain in my upper thigh...it is more of a nuisance than a real terrible pain...I always worry about blood clots..I took my patch off just in case for a few hours but had to put it on due to the hot flashes ...I am hoping this is nothing but I am worried..
Avatar f tn The vivelle, vivelle dot and Climara are all bioidentical hormones like Kate was talking about. They are supposed to be very similar to our own hormones, but they are still not our own :( Take it from me though, they are great.
Avatar f tn The patch (at least Vivelle-Dot, never tried Climara) was a dismal failure for me. I was on the highest dose and about all it did was keep my vagina well lubricated so all the estrogen must have been going straight there and giving me no other benefits. I get much better results with the estradiol tablet (generic Estrace) which is a $4/$10 prescription in the U.S. If you want to go with transdermal delivery, gels or compounded creams are options.
Avatar f tn Hi I don't know how much this will help but I am coming from having hormone replacement to trying to get off of it and it's horrible. I am calling my doctor in the morning to start going back up. I had a hysterectomy when I was 26 and have been on premerin all these years. DO NOT get on premerin not matter what. It is a terrible drug. It worked for me for years but for other reasons I will not take it and nobody should. I am on Vivelle Dot.
Avatar f tn Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine.
178345 tn?1242536246 Hi Girls - Just wondering anyone on HRT Patch..Vivelle Dot..Lately, I have been so tired..extremely tired and my joints hurt..I am not sure what this is related to..wondering if it has to do with the hormone patch??? I am eating well and losing weight (on purpose) so I dont know what is wrong..tomorrow I am seeing my primary MD..Just thought if anyone has any idea...please share..
Avatar n tn Yes, except for the tingling in arms, I get it in my hands, I had my ovaries out 6 weeks ago so I was thrown into full blown menopause, lost of interest in just about everything, tired, moody, plugged up the bath tub with hair loss when I washed my hair, I went for my post op check up and Dr, explained to me for a long time abou bio identical hormone replacemnet, he sold me on it, right now Im using Vivelle dot its a really small patch you put on either your belly or hip.
Avatar f tn Oh great one of the side effects of vivelle dot patch is back ache,,that explains my lower back pain,,,it did happen after going on vivelle, but i am thinking clearer maybe it willl go away
901431 tn?1242066034 thanks for your imput, I was on estrace but caused a rash so he had me get on Vivelle dot patched, what is timed bd ? and which meds did you not use ?
Avatar n tn Or, you may want to think about something completely different like the Vivelle Dot patch. This is something your Dr will have to prescribe just like your Estrace pills.
Avatar n tn Hi! I agree with Mary regarding the possiblity of adding a little progesterone to your regimen. I'm also on the vivelle dot patch (.075 strength) and have just recently 50 mg of progesterone (which I take orally, but many prefer to use as a cream or gel transdermally). I'd ask your doctor about adding some progesterone to your regimen. Just my thought :-) Good luck!
