Common Questions and Answers about Vitamins men should take

vitamin

Avatar m tn For most of us, if we eat a reasonable diet we don't need to take supplemental vitamins. Still a simple multivitamin would not do any harm. I take them myself, but I am a senior and older people some times need extra vitamins because their digestive systems are not as good as they once were. If you have a "pass" from a cardiologist I would guess you heart is fine. If you have some anxiety, a vitamin may help, mentally and physically.
1393778 tn?1280347609 Hi, im not sure if they help, but my doc told me its good to take prenatal vitamins even b4 i get pregnant cause they prepare your body for the baby. Its good to have the minerals and vitamins in your system already.
Avatar f tn WOW! Thanks for the info. I've just spent the last 2 hours doing research and haven't found all the info you posted! What I did find is that Selenium and Zinc levels that he should achieve are found in his regular multi vit. I also found all sorts of info on Vit C and it's importance. He should take up to 1000mg a day and I intend to get that tomorrow. I just went out and bought Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) for myself today. Do you think he should take it too?
Avatar f tn i take the following vitamins on a daily basis. they are as follows- cod liver oil, evening primrose oil, multivitamin, zinc, magnesium, vitamin d, vitamin c and zinc. are they all safe to take?
Avatar f tn Along with eating healthy food, I take several vitamins a day. I take 1 multi-vitamin, 2 calcium, 3 fish oil, 1 vitamin c, 1 vitamin e, 2 resveritrol, and 1 inositol. I was wondering if thy are vitamins I should be taking, or if I should eliminate some of them. If so, which ones.
Avatar f tn Your doctor was right.. Your actually supposed to take your folic acid before your pregnancy and carry on taking it until your 8th month if your planning one.
Avatar n tn Go get tested then. If it brings you clear of mind but if your not showing any signs I'm sure your fine. And i read oral sex you are less likely to get hiv. So just wait 3 months. I'm sure your fine.
287479 tn?1272730364 I have MTHFR and lack B vitamins. My doctor told me to take lots of Folic Acid back when we were ttc and when I was pregnant. Now that we started TTC again in Nov, I am wondering how much to take. I am going to the store tonight to pick up baby aspirin and prenatals. I have a bottle of Folic Acid. I never asked my doctor how much Folic Acid I should be taking, and I can't get in to see him until Jan 5th (unless of course I get a BFP when AF is due on the 9th).
Avatar f tn Hello! Here's my general situation: I'm a 27 year old male who takes medication for anxiety and panic attack issues. I'm certainly not alone there. My medications work, except for some sexual side effects being to main noticeable side effect of my daily medication... Again, that's not too uncommon. But after a few years, I think I'm beginning to realize it's also totally dummed down my drive to even try to meet women, my impetus to even approach them.
Avatar f tn I'm just curious my husband has been working out and taking vitamins and supplements to help him building up muscle, if I were to become pregnant would that affect the fetus..
Avatar f tn Hi all. This is probably a question that I should post on the expert forum, but as always, that forum is full already today. I know as a woman ttc, what I can and can't eat, drink, etc. . . But what about a man? I'm wondering if any meds that a man take can alter fertility, or if it can cause birth defects or anything like that. Any information would be appreciated.
494640 tn?1262737989 As far as his swimmers go my husband was told to take antioxidant vitamins ( C,E, & Beta Carotene) Those are supposedly the best. I heard musinex for you during O to help thin CM to make it less hostile. Also I heard pre-seed lubricant helps as far as the hostile environment, I hope this helps a little.

6807839 tn?1386436725 I have found foods that provide the same nutrition and vitamins as the prenatals but my midwife thinks i should take them. Before we had prenatals out grandparents did it the old fashion way.
Avatar n tn Women have a higher demand for iron then men due to monthly menstrual flow. There are 2 types of iron in our food sources, Heme iron and Non-Heme iron. Heme iron is from animal sources and Non-Heme is plant sources. Non-Heme iron has more iron then Heme iron , however, it does not absorbed well into our bodies so it is important to eat foods with Vitamin C and Heme iron foods to enhance absorption.
Avatar f tn The body performs different functions at different times of the day. Many people suggest adding food supplements at varied times of the day to accommodate for the digestion and assimilation of these nutrients. At night, many suggest taking calcium. This is because calcium is utilized at night, and also because calcium can help you get to sleep when taken at bed time. Remember the adage of a glass of milk before bed? Calcium absorption is the reason this makes sense.

1499174 tn?1327231194 I too suffered a miscarriage and my doctor told me that I could try right away because it was so early in the pregnancy (5w) and she highly recommended continuing to take my prenatal vitamins. So I've continued to take them since (september) and although I haven't gotten my BFP yet (fingers crossed it will happen soon) my hair and nails have been growing nicely from the vitamins.
