I never got any thicker, shinier hair when I was pregnant. Then again, I never got big boobs either. :( That being said, many non-pregnant people swear the prenatals do help, and theoretically, it SHOULD assist in new cell growth turnover and hence, thicker hair.
1759122 tn?1390189882 Usually hair gets thicker because of the prenatal vitamins. Do you take those at the moment? I was losing my hair because of the anemia. I didn't have enough iron and i was getting sick after vitamins. Once I started iron supplement I felt better and my hair stopped falling out. It happens also due to the hormonal storm in your body. Often after having a baby women lose a lot the hair but then it comes back.
Avatar f tn My hair and nails did get thicker and longer with my first 2 but not this one
Avatar f tn DURING pregnancy your hair actually grows more. Longer and thicker due to prenantal vitamins. But after you hair and nails will go back to how they were prepregnancy.
314276 tn?1235081223 My endocrinoligist recommended Evening Primrose Oil when my hair started coming out by the handfuls due to thyroid issues. He said it wouldn't stop the loss but that new growth would be healthier and thicker. Also, in the past I've taken vitamins for my fingernails and noticed that my hair benefited more from them than my nails!
Avatar f tn I had gastric bypass 3 years ago and lost a lot of hair because of it. After starting prenatal vitamins my hair has actually gotten thicker. To me that's just a bonus to being pregnant.
Avatar f tn Are you taking your prenatal vitamins or folic acid? The vitamins should be helping to prevent your hair from falling out. Make sure you're not using any heated hair tools like a straightener or even a blow dryer. Try not to use hairspray or gel, and don't pull your hair in a ponytail until you figure out why it's falling out.
455110 tn?1205964069 Yes...I'm pregnant and dont even take them I hate them, lol, but yes I know of many many women and co-workers that take prenatals exactly for that reason. And they've told me that their hair does come out shinier and thicker, but since I havent been taking them my hair still seems the same, actually thinner.
Avatar f tn Im currently 13w 2d and since becoming pregnant I have been shedding hair like crazy. My last pregnancy was the opposite where I had lots of hair then shed it after the birth. Is there anyone else experiencing this??
Avatar f tn Ok so i have always heard how your hair feels thicker, looks better, and all that while pregnant but i am the opposite! my hair sheds! is anyone else having this problem??
Avatar f tn I had the opposite in that my hair got thicker and after I was done with the pregnancies and breast feeding, the hair came back out. If it is really bad, ask your ob about it. But some hair loss or growth during pregnancy is normal.
Avatar n tn Plus pregnancy usually makes your hair and nails thicker and stronger so instead you may like to invest in a new razor lol :)
Avatar f tn My hair thins. If I cut my hair wear its not long the weight isn't as bad and doesn't fall out as much.
Avatar f tn As weird as it sounds my body hair grew faster but my head hair only got thicker. It didn't grow long just thick. But my leg and arm pit hair grew long faster lol.
Avatar f tn im 28 weeks and this was deff a problem for me when I was first pregnant.. I shave it. mine doesnt come back thicker. lol my bf said the same thing.
Avatar f tn I take my vitamins everyday and my hair doesn't grow its dry and awhful actually. And I don't even colour my hair. It's been over a year since I've coloured it. I too am bummed about this because I was looking forward to my hair finally growing. I chopped it all off a while ago.
Avatar n tn s and as you know, being female and caring about your hair go hand in hand. I use Suave dry shampoo to make the hair appear thicker. My forehead area has noticeable thinning and you can see right through to the scalp. The dry shampoo makes each strand appear thicker therefore covering my bald spots, per say. I do have dark blonde hair though... not sure how brown or darker hair would respond.
Avatar f tn A hairdresser friend of mine swears by prenatal vitamins for thicker hair. I've got thick fast growing hair, so I've never tried, it but it might help some.
Avatar f tn Hair doesn't come back thicker if you shave it, it just looks that way. When hair starts to grow its thin at the end and gets thicker the closer you are to the folicle. When you shave you are cutting it down at one of the thickest parts so when it grows out the end is no longer thin, however the hair is no thicker than it normally was.
Avatar f tn Avoide using heat application too this will onky make matters worse hun xx
Avatar f tn I can't remember where I saw it But what it says was that hair doesn't fall out as much during pregnancy. I don't think that's all too true to say for everyone, because my hair still comes out when I take showers, but it has been less than when I was. As for growing it ain't done much for me.
Avatar f tn My hair is thicker and not falling out as much, but I'm also noticing it's very dry.
1994124 tn?1422574099 I have heard that if you continue to take your prenatal for a year after u give birth it helps with hair loss
Avatar f tn So a lot of people have told me that when your pregnat your hair gets thicker and it grows faster...but that is not true for me, my hair has been falling off and its thinner than before :/ and I have read on Google that once you have your baby a lot of of your hair falls out...is this true?
Avatar f tn t cut it because the vitamins that are supposed to go to my baby are gonna go to my hair so it can grow back... is it true?
