Avatar f tn You may want to see a doctor and discuss your symptoms. My daughter has similar symptoms and was diagnosed with PMDD. It got worse every year after her period started, so we finally put her on a oral contraceptive to help with her hormones. I also have her taking a natural remedy pill call primerose and some other vitamins we got from a natural medicine doctor. With PMDD it's important to make sure you get the right vitamins and take care of your self...exercise, mediate, get enough sleep.
Avatar n tn My concern with you is, how long has this been happening? Is it something new? Or has it always been this way for you? Calcium or the lack of Calcium in your diet can trigger depression, as calcium drops severely about 10 days before cycle. Also your hormone levels may be unbalanced, which causes a drop in blood sugar and serotonin. I would suggest asking your gyn about vitamins, and possibly even b.c. which sometimes eliminates severe pms.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of any natural alternatives for pre-menopause, or pmdd? I've tried evening primrose and no luck. Don't think I am ready for HRT, but I've read things about the natural stuff, but I am so skeptical......it took a lot for me to even give the melatonin a try......and it did work, but I am very skeptical when it comes to thomas recipe, amino acids, and all the rest of that stuff. Does anyone know anybody who has tried the natural stuff and it worked for them?
9177436 tn?1402160034 Hei! I have been having very strong pmdd-symptoms for three months now. I was also diagnosed with hipotiroidismo before Xmas. Could these two be related? In march I thought I was going crazy and I was prescribed terolut (progesterone pills). After that I had two periods not that difficult. But the last period I had (ended a week ago) was awful, I gained a lot of weight, I had anxiety attacks etc.
661941 tn?1297447355 Thanks for your response. Perhaps it is the perimenopausal syndrome... dunno. Maybe it won't be so bad to lose these ovaries after all, eh?
2010625 tn?1329372056 im 15 an i have mood issues an also pmdd im on prozac for my anxiety but its also been really good for my pmdd but ive also been on zoloft lexapro (if thats how u spell it) and culexa (definitely spelled that wrong) hopefully you can figure it out but its a SSIR just like the others ive been sick on all of them including the prozac but its also about finding the right mg i started at 10 it didnt work so they put me on 20 an that made me puke an I thought i was gonna die it was awful now im on 15
Avatar f tn I have had PMDD for about as long as ive been getting a period, about 10 years now. And in recent months I havent been getting it too badly, but this month Its been horrible. My basic question is can early pregnancy symptoms mimic PMDD? Theirs a chance that i could have gotten pregnant this month, and I'm just cureous if anyone else has experienced this and wound up pregnant. my symptoms are extreme moodiness, irritated at nothing then crying for no reason.
Avatar n tn Your PMDD doesn't sound very severe that or your one of the ones that cycle like myself...my answer and you may not like it....marijuana...
1553572 tn?1301948665 Well there is something called PMDD which is like PMS times a million it's something worth researching. There are things you can do like exercise, balancing your diet, taking vitamins, etc to help this situation but what I would suggest is going to talk to a trained medical professional so they can help you manage this difficult time during your menstral cycle.
1097853 tn?1260942431 Symptoms occur regularly in the second half of the cycle and end when menstruation begins or shortly thereafter. PMDD is not just a new name for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), a condition that affects as many as 75% of menstruating women. It is, however, considered to be a very severe form of PMS that affects about 5% of menstruating women. Both PMDD and PMS share symptoms in common that include depression, anxiety, tension, irritability and moodiness. What sets PMDD apart is its severity.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for responding!!! Yes, I do take Ssri already for my pmdd.....if it wasn't for that I would be crazzzzyyyy when my period comes! I have tried B/C pills and they made feel terrible,or increase my blood pressure....right now I have been on bio- identical progesterone.... My last period was my breaking point! I ended up in the hospital with a severe migraine and my blood pressure was ski high...
559659 tn?1547763060 I'm bipolar with horrible pmdd. Is there any room for this kind of tracker? I know there are alot of women out there who would appreciate it. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I've been on wellbrutrin sr 150 bid for almost 10 years for pmdd. the neurologist thinks it is the cause of my tremor and would like to change rx or stop taking it. I'm not past menpause yet. How do I know if I still need this drug for pmdd or if thew pmdd was just a transitional problem?
1305767 tn?1361192676 Good idea about the journal. As females, we all go through the emotional rollercoster around our periods but PMDD is much much worse. Keep track of your symptoms and talk wth your doctor about it. For me, my periods are totally out of wack. Doctor says its my anxiety. I go months without one and then have one for three weeks! Irritability, sadness, etc occur as well. I'm glad your finally feeling better. I am looking forward to a day without anxiety as well.
Avatar n tn Should my girlfriend switch back to low hormone birth control? After 5 years on it, she switched from Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo to Ortho Tri Cyclen in May. (She had breakthrough bleeding, no serious side effects.) When she switched, she hasn't found me attractive and is severely questioning whether we're meant to be together. There are moments where she shows she's still interested, and she describes herself as having mixed emotions. (Mood swings maybe?
Avatar m tn Thanks for the comment, you gave me a lot of good info, it's always better to hear from the people who've tried these meds, etc! She doesn't have to tell her diagnosis,no, but she would, we're very close and talk often, esp about this. The doctor didn't tell her a diagnosis, except PMDD. She was on Prozac before for the PMDD and the doctor thinks that caused the suicidal thoughts, as she's young and it sometimes has the reverse effect in teens.
Avatar n tn yes i have bipolar type 1 with major depressive disorder and pmdd i been on bipolar medicine for 3 weeks now and still cant get to sleep .
Avatar f tn I had most likely some xenoestrogens messing w my hormones and also tested for a bit of heavy metals. once that was done I started my prenatals vitamins:) Stress less as in chinese medicine stress affects ur liver quite often and liver is needed for detoxifixation. I'm a naturopathic health practitioner btw... but for 1 year got a functional/ integrative GP to give me her opinion, in case I was missing anything. Also been having acupuncture :) oh n filter ur water....
Avatar n tn This sounds like PMDD. The feelings never really subside...and let me guess when ur on ur period you feel rather numb? This may be treatable if you talk to your ob about medications for your stress and depression. It also seems that this is related to your menstral cycle because of your irregularity. Something worth a shot.
Avatar n tn I'm in a similar place as you. I have Bipolar1 with my PMDD though. I'm not able to take any antidepressants for my PMDD as I'm ultra-rapid cycling and they put me into orbit. One Dr recommended taking vitamin B6 for the symptoms and it actually made a huge difference. I also use OTC PMS medications such as Pamprin PMS. My husband calls them my happy pills. Check with your Dr if these are suitable for you. Geodon DOES cause weight gain. I looked it up on drugs.
Avatar f tn You really do need to take it slow when getting off any SSRI. I do have to say Prozac is great for PMDD, it's usually the non hormonal treatment chosen. When I was diagnosed wtih Bipolar they took me off my SSRI and put me on a mood stabilizer, my PMDD was so horrid I was suicidal. There is a discussion about only taking a SSRI for 10 days a month, but the withrdrawal symptoms are so bad that it's better to stay on it, even at a low dose.
Avatar f tn For the past year, I've been having between 1 to 2 weeks of pure rage before my period. I've been looking into this and it may be PMDD, which is a much more severe version of PMS. People normally get more depressing thoughts, but I just get rage and to an alarming point. Did anyone have any suggestions for treatment? I've read that only 10% of women have this.
Avatar f tn Background: Diagnosed w/ OCD (health obsessions, not compulsions), PTSD, PMDD, panic attacks So after 5 very unsuccessful attempts at managing my extreme anxiety w/ medication (psychiatrist & PCP), my [new] PCP & I may have had a breakthrough w/ Zoloft. I'm currently taking 25 mg (we started low due to my intolerance of other SSRI's), but this time we combined it w/ .5mg of Xanax (.25mg 2x/day).
Avatar m tn wants to put me on birth control and completely stop my cycle for a while. Has this been successful for any one else with PMDD?
Avatar n tn I was put on effexor about 25yrs. ago for severe PMDD. Since I am now menopausal my doctor has weaned me off it. I have been completely off it now for about 1-1/2wks. and have been experiencing withdrawl symptoms. I am very depressed, cry at the slightest situations, have mood swings, and feel suicidal at times. I am generally a happy outgoing person, but have felt withdrawn, hopeless, and lack of purpose in my life.
Avatar f tn I took Prozac for a couple years, I did gain weight and honestly they made me feel like a total zombie. I had no emotion no matter what environment I was in. It works for some people but if its not working for you, you can try something else, but talk to your doctor about it. There are tons of anti depressants out there.
3143493 tn?1342996589 PMDD- I have serve PMDD and its effecting my life in a bad way.My marriage is on the line because of how bad mymood swings are.I was recently given (citalopram) but only 2 weeks at a time but I'm seriously scared about taking this med because of the side effects and reviews I've read..
