Avatar f tn After I eat I always feel constipation..I can never just go straight to the restroom ...I am 8wks & 4dys... Anyone have.
Avatar f tn Although not the sole cause of constipation, it can contribute. Check your vitamins or if you are taking an iron supplement in addition to your vitamins, talk to your doctor about reducing the amount you are taking in (of its more than the recommended daily value, which most prenatal vitamins are).
Avatar f tn m 7w4d with my second and right after I found out I started taking OTC prenatal vitamins. Two days ago I had to stop taking them due to extreme constipation to the point of pains in my side and nausea and headaches right after taking them. I tried everything to deal with the constipation but nothing really helps and when I take them my face will feel like its on fire and I get dizzy even though I always eat first.
1485448 tn?1289523422 YES prenatal vitamins do cause constipation it is the iron in the pills that causes it believe me I am pregnant now and suffer from FREQUENT constipation which my dr said was kinda a good thing it means I am taking my vitamins every day like I should but he said that it was causing all my problems.
Avatar f tn You can ask your doctor for stool softeners. There are some prenatal vitamins that come with a stool softener. The vitamins I take have it, & it works. I'd talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what prenatal vitamins you are taking but certain brands make some women constipated. If you think that might be it, you can ask your Dr for a different kind, I know there is brand had a stool softener made into the vitamins.
Avatar f tn Do make sure you separate all other meds, whether script or OTC from your synthroid by at least a couple of hours. Vitamins/minerals should be separated by at least 4 hours, particularly, those containing calcium.

Avatar f tn Wooo weee this pregnancy constipation is no joke. I was sitting on the toilet like "help me Lord", and it finally came out. OMG!!!
282955 tn?1394730951 That being said it is always worth trying different brands of prenatal vitamins but it if IS the vitamins causing the constipation then its unlikely a different brand will help since most vitamin pills are essentially identical in composition. Have you tried fiber pills or metamucil? Both of these are acceptable to take while pregnant.
Avatar f tn I've had a problem with chronic constipation for years, these last 8-10 it has gotten better to when I go once a day. Now, I found out I was pregnant last week Monday and I've been eating the same way plus prenatal belly bar vitamins. Now these last 3 days I haven't #2d but I urinate 10-15 times a day. What can I use? Right now I eat a pack of fresh express spinach a day, more than enough friut 1 gallon of water and kashi granola. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Fiber pills are helpful. Also, it might be your brand of prenatal vitamins, so check with your doc about switching your prescription.
359321 tn?1278268890 MY RE told me to use the prenatals at the pharmacy but someone just told me that they have heard horror stories about the over the counter prenatal vitamins, she said they do not include a stool softener so they make you really constipated as opposed to the prescribed. Is anyone taking the over the counter vitamins??
Avatar f tn Constipation is normal during pregnancy because the hormones released during pregnancy soothe & relax your body -- including the digestive tract. This means that food digests and processes through your body a lot slower than it did before you got pregnant, and generally causes constipation. It isn't necessarily bad for the baby. To help with constipation, you can eat lots of high-fiber foods such as beans, fruits and vegetables, whole-grain breads, etc. every day.
Avatar f tn I am 23 years old and 7 weeks pregnant. I take my prenatal vitamins. And I am extremely backed up. Does anyone have anything that they have used to relieve constipation that is baby safe!?
Avatar f tn Having too much fibre, and not enough water may contribute to constipation. Are you taking any prenatal vitamins? Often prenatal vitamins contain stool softens, as the increase of progesterone that we experience contributes to slower digestion. This is a mechanism for our babies to get the proper nutrition they deserve from our diets. So taking some stool softeners, or even having a good amount of fibre intake while drinking plenty of water should help.

Avatar f tn Constipation has been bad for me since I started taking the prenatal vitamins. It's so bad that I actually dread going to the bathroom for number 2. I have to ask my doc for a prescription for stool softener.
1571730 tn?1314725245 my doctor told me to take them as often as possible, I've had chronic consitpation for 2-3 months.
Avatar f tn Seems like all the prenatal vitamins I've tried either make me super constipated or give me bad diarrhea. Does anyone have a good prenatal vitamin that doesn't do that?
Avatar f tn Ok so went to my doctor today, and he told me that if my vitamins had iron in them to cut it down. I thought they did, but i was wrong. I have been getting wicked intestinal cramps and am constipated. Which is not fun. So my question is should i take a laxative or fiber or a stool softener ?
Avatar n tn if ur nursing i would recommend u keep taking the prenatal vitamins cuz nursing will deplete ur iron.
