Avatar n tn It sounds like you consume daily vitamins and minerals from the vegetables, nuts, and fruits. You do not need to spend the extra money on all those supplements. The mega doses (above the recommended daily level) will eventually be harmful with some of the vitamins and minerals.

Avatar m tn Eating whole foods and obtaining your vitamins/minerals are going to be the best option. Even though pill forms of vitamins and minerals seem to be the healthy option, our bodies still have to work to break them down. In most cases, the pill forms are synthetic forms of the vitamins which in the long run are not the best option for your body. What type f diet do you eat?
Avatar n tn Students often stop eating vegetables and get very depleted in vitamins and minerals. You can really tax your body when you are trying to study and use your brain, but you don't have the right fuel. You need to eat vegetables, some fruit, and lean meat, not junk convenience food. Get some sunshine also!
Avatar m tn You could consider a serving of juice "part" of a meal. It's not enough to constitute an entire meal, because it won't have protein and fat or enough fiber. Juicing gives you a lot of vitamins and minerals, but it removes all the filling fiber that you'd normally get from your fruits and veggies. You need to have some protein with every meal/snack you eat throughout the day. Protein should make up at least 30% of your calories.
Avatar m tn The daily value for vitamins and minerals are based on a 2000 calorie diet. However, my metabolism (observed based on calories in vs weight change as well as energy levels in response to calorie intakes to distinguish between starvation metabolism and actual calorie needs) is much higher than the standard 2000 calories — even starvation level for my metabolism is much higher than 2000 calories. The following are the nutrients that I suspect would have a higher RDI for a higher metabolism.

Avatar n tn Suggest giving her milkshakes (ice cream, fresh fruit or frozen fruit, milk) or yogurt smoothies (yogurt, fresh fruit, and frozen fruit) instead of formula and for additional calories, protein, and vitamins and minerals. She can help make them, too. For her age infant formula will not provide the nutrients she needs. The most important thing is to RELAX. Let her eat what she wants. Slowly introduce new foods, and if she does not want it, do not make a fuss over it.
1285110 tn?1420147378 I believe this goes for a lot of other minerals also -- the soil in some areas is over farmed and becoming, if not already, depleted in minerals. Last fall, I had a micronutrient blood test. It showed that I was low in selenium, magnesium, zinc and a couple of others. I now add supplements to my diet, in order to make sure I get the nutrients I need. I already knew that I'm deficient in B12, and am on shots for that.
Avatar n tn Suggest eating lots of fruit and vegetables is get vitamins/minerals but an added benefit of fiber. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar n tn My boyfriend of almost 3 years REFUSES to eat vegetables. The only ones he will eat are corn and potatoes in the form of fries or mashed potatoes. Anything green is the devil. He gags at the thought of even eating lettuce, brocolli, tomatoes, etc. He used to eat veggies when he was really little but then decided he didn't like them, wasn't eating them, and that was that.
Avatar f tn Suggest eating more fruit and vegetables daily for vitamins and minerals, especially potassium (bananas, oranges, strawberries, and potatoes). If you increase intake and still have issues, suggest going to your doctor to get checked. Thank you for your question.
1266263 tn?1270153368 These carbohydrates provide not only energy but also important vitamins and minerals. You store only carbohydrates not protein or fats in your muscles in the form of sugar called glycogen. During hard exercise, you burn this glycogen for energy. When you deplete your glycogen stores, as can happen during repeated days of hard training and a low carbohydrate diet, you feel overwhelmingly exhausted.
Avatar n tn Help him make milkshakes (ice cream, fresh fruit or frozen fruit, milk) or yogurt smoothies (yogurt, fresh fruit, and frozen fruit) and then he will have additional calories, protein, and vitamins and minerals. The most important thing is to relax. It becomes the battle of the wits between the child and the parents. Let him eat what he wants. Slowly introduce new foods, and if he does not want it, do not make a fuss over it. Let it go and enjoy the meal.

Avatar n tn Its not ideal of course. Even if your taking prenatals there's still a lot of vitamins and minerals that your should be getting for your sake and babies. Your body absorbs much more, and efficient from actual food than prenatals. Maybe a fruit smoothie and add some Greek yogurt, granola, and some vegetable juice??

967045 tn?1378399673 Good work. You can do this -- just one moment at a time. Don't psych yourself out. Try not to look at the clock. Pills or fruit? (smile): Maybe a big basket of difficult to peel fruit? The focus required to actually eat them will redirect your racing mind/emotions & the vitamins/minerals & enzymes will help speed your healing. In all seriousness, though, congrats on almost three days! Hold Fast.
Avatar n tn Probiotics (buy at healthstore) and take food-based vitamins/minerals. Buy psyllium husk for fiber..Miralax has chemicals in it. Take care of yourself and you will no longer suffer from this!
486919 tn?1280184140 As I mentioned before you can take them all at once in the morning and should be taken with food or right after a meal so the vitamins and minerals are absorbed. It is better if they are taken together because they do help one another. For example, Vitamin C helps absorb Iron in the stomach. Supplements are fine for the body as long as you take the recommended daily dose. It will put a stress on your liver only if you are taking mega doses of fat soluble vitamins (Vitamins A, D, E).
