1580703 tn?1651904887 my AST ALT was terrible 80/250 after surgery and anesthesia and I took a lot of NAC, milk thistle, and choline and I was able to lower the levels to 27/60 after 2 weeks. I don't know if I should keep on taking 72g of NAC, milk thistle, and choline? I've read that milk thistle may help grow liver cells. I felt more energy and strength after starting the NAC.
5857909 tn?1375628784 I reviewed all the medication that I have taken and have been taking since 2018 and realized that my seizures started right when I started taking NAC (N-Acetylcysteine) (I started taking this medicine reviewing studies that suggested it worked well for OCD, it really did work well) Well, I stopped taking NAC two month ago and I have not had any seizures or feel as bad and dizzy as I felt. I need confirmation that the withdrawal of NAC has caused my seizure / epilepsy problems to go away.
Avatar n tn I took care not to have a sip of alcohol, I did however have a N-acutely tyrosine supplement (includes B6), a b-complex vitamin (also had b6, folate, no potassium though), a magnesium supplement and 5mg of adderall (prescribed daily and earlier in the morning) and a bromelian supplement. Within about 30-45 min of taking the supplements a started to feel nauseous, had to leave an even immediacy and vomited repeatedly, also had very shortness of breath and almost fainted.
Avatar m tn You have to be really careful with holistic treatments as they can cause stress on the kidneys because that is where they are eliminated. If you have to go for a medical test that uses dyes, taking something called N acetyle L Cysteine (NAC) has been shown to help prevent damage. Other that that I don't know of anything. I would also talk with the transplant team as some herbs may interact.
Avatar m tn 5 percent isosilybin B * Vitamin C—2 to 3 grams (g) daily in divided doses. Do not take vitamin C with foods that contain iron because vitamin C can facilitate increased iron absorption, which can cause additional free radical activity in the liver.

ALA and DHJLA are superb free radical scavenger themselves because they neutralize peroxyle radicals, hydroxyl radicals and singlet oxygen. ALA is also a metal chelator that removes mercury from tissues, prevents calcium oxalate crystals (stones) from forming in the kidneys, chelates copper, and removes arsenic. Lately, there has been a great explosion in ALA research.

Avatar m tn Hi, I recently got these vitamins from my Holistic Dr because he recommend me to take them for constantly being congested due to seasonal allergies. I have the NAC N-Acetyl Cysteine by the brand Xymogen. Has anyone ever tried these? Are there are any serious/possible side effects? Thanks!
Avatar n tn From what you have stated in your question, you are at the upper limits for vitamin C and E, decrease Zinc to 40mg, and suggest not increasing the other doses. You did not state the vitamin Bs you are taking. Vitamin B6 recommended dose for Adult male is 1.3mg a day (upper limit 100mg), and Niacin 16 mg a day (upper limit 35mg). You stated that you were having muscle problems, are you eating enough potassium foods (oranges, orange juice, potatoes, bananas, etc)?
Avatar m tn For whatever reason your problems are caused by excessive sticky mucus. One gram of vitamin b5 daily should be a big help. Also take n-acetylcysteine (NAC) capsules, as directed. Drink lots of water. Whenever you can afford it go to a lung doctor for a prescription for Mucomyst, 10 per cent to be used in a nebulizer. And buy a cheap nebulizer. Mucomyst is a variant of NAC so it is a supplement, but the liquid cannot be bought over the counter. How no idea why.
