Avatar f tn Tingly feet, legs and hands, unbalanced and lightheaded and have passed out a few times. Now, with my new bloodwork my Vitamin K is elevated at 1453. I have no idea what this means. Am I not processing vitamins correctly in my body because of the MTHFR gene mutation. My doctors don't seem to have an answer for me.
Avatar m tn Welcome! Congrats on the weight loss. That's quite a dosage of vitamin D! How long have you been taking the supplements? Have they helped? I'm currently taking 7000iu per day. My body wasn't absorbing enough and my levels kept dropping. Its such a frustrating deficiency. It take a long time for the body to get back to normal (Im going on 5 months now and the symptoms vary day to day). You should also try to add some vitamin k in.
Avatar m tn Vitamin K is an essential vitamin but too much can be toxic to the liver. Vitamin K2 has shown more benefits to the liver, particularly in the area of fibrosis, also known as MK7, you can read more about it on the life extention web site. I think the verdict is out on whether this is a good thing or not for liver patients, and especially while on tx the risks may outweigh the benfit..
Avatar f tn Just got an email from the np that said she had talked to the doctor and wants to put me on Vitamin k 10 mg daily. I gave her the pharmacy number and asked her to send me the lab results. Still waiting to hear back. Have any of you had to do this before? What is the Vitamin k used for? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have had this problem since my early 20's. Some doctors have told me it's from early sun damage, others have said it's a form of roscazea. I have had it treated with a with a process where apin was placed into the vein, and also with lazers-which is very exspensive. I work with the public, and very concerned about my appearnce. Recently, I've been using a cover-up called Dermablend. Is there any thing I could use or do to get rid of these? I heard vitamin K cream might help.
Avatar m tn For those of us taking coumadin monitoring our PT/INR (coumadin levels in the vernacular) is literally a life-or-death matter. My Dad passed away a year ago this June because he had a series of strokes due to NOT monitoring his levels (poor bugger loved salad). Unfortunately I have recently discovered that some "heart healthy" foods are really not so good for us on coumadin. Specifically cooking oils both the pourable kind and the stuff in the spray cans.
Avatar n tn Most people need at least 5,000 IU a day, and many need amounts as high as 10,000 IU, especially those who avoid the sun. Get tested for vitamin D3, and if the level is below 70, a supplement is needed. Adding a moderate amount of calcium, (around 500 to 600 mg of calcium citrate) a day improves bone mineralization. A number of other nutrients also improve bone mineralization, including vitamin K, magnesium, zinc, green tea, and curcumin.
Avatar f tn How do you feel about the vitamin K shot? Are you going to give it to your new born?
Avatar f tn I think those who are opposed to a vitamin K shot for baby should do more research. Vitamin K can prevent a bleeding disorder, not blood clotting. Vitamin K aids in the ability of blood to clot, which is why it is given to newborns as a preventative measure. A lactation consultant friend sent me a link to an article, which includes statistics, about this very debate. http://evidencebasedbirth.
Avatar f tn I have developed a sudden skin rash on feet and legs below the knees. It is a round white spot with a red dot in the center. It does not itch. I am taking coumadin and plavix. Is this a sign of bleeding under the skin? I have also started having red marks, some size of dots and some larger and brown "age spots" on my skin. Anyone have similar condition? I was told to stay away from vitamin K because this effects the coumadin and my pro time.
550622 tn?1247656720 I've taken vitamin D3 and tried to get as much sun as possible (for only about 3 months) and my level was brought up a lot. Be mindful though, there're various form of D...and deficiency, make sure you don't over supplement yourself with D which can be harmful as well. Good luck.
1298588 tn?1330318981 In my country, we often lack vitamin D in the winter (cold and little sun) so we take fish oils or vitamin D supplements. Whenever I do this through a multivitamin, my B12 gets too high. No vitamin directly affect the heart rhythm, but several minerals do. Make sure your potassium, calcium and magnesium are within normal limits. As DeltaDawn said, vitamin K can be a problem when you have A-fib (coumadin is as far as I know, a vitamin K "blocker").
768754 tn?1373918737 Hi: I was just at Whole Foods and picked up a natural multivitamin that is iron-free and free of vitamin K (Rainbow Light "Just Once"). I was surprised to find one w/out iron & K. I wanted to open up a discussion to not only share this info, but to find out if others have suggestions re: vitamins/supplements. Are there any other specific concerns about multi-vitamins for Hep C+ people, not currently under tx? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I was told to spend more time in the sun, my vitamin D levels were very low.
Avatar f tn actually sun is very beneficial to both you and baby, you need around 20 min of exposure to the sun everyday on your arms and legs, a little more if your dark skinned, your body gets its vitamin D from being exposed to the sun, otherwise you risk having vit D deficiency which isnt good, and you end up by having to take suppliments, just be sure that you dont go out in the hottest part of the day and if you do put on sunscreen :)
Avatar f tn so, if could be inflammation from a vitamin deficiency. Like vitamin K or D etc. Gluten allergy or Fibromyalgia . There is also items like conditions that keep a person from processing vitamin D by way of the sun. Have you ever had a tan. Ever had a allergy test.
535882 tn?1396576685 Hi, guys! My vit d level was 18 last June. The doc had me take 50,000 IU supplements ( a prescription), one 50,0000 pill a week for 8 weeks, then she tested again and it was up to 44, so stopped the supplement. After reading up on vit d and realizing that perhaps I could still use more, I ordered the 50,000 IU vitamins online, and have been taking one per week ever since. (Not sure this is a good idea, but it's what i did).
Avatar n tn In the morning, wash your face with cold water to help blood vessels constrict. Then, apply an eye cream that contains Retinol and vitamin K. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to prevent the vitamin deficiencies that can affect your skin’s appearance. Reducing your salt intake will also help improve the look of your skin. One treatment is to massage almond oil with honey around the eyes before going to bed. http://en.wikipedia.
535822 tn?1443976780 Be careful with taking too much vitamin K -- it's a blood clotting agent. Just need the right amount, not too much. Too little, though, and you're in trouble. Magnesium is responsible for relaxing the heart muscle, as well as other muscles. Most Americans have been conned into taking so much calcium, especially in dairy, which is low is magnesium, and too much calcium leaches magnesium from the body. Too much magnesium leaches calcium from the body.
471161 tn?1317190950 OK I have a question and I'm wondering if anyone can help. I have been diagnosed with Lupus and my Rheumy tells me to "stay out of the sun" but here's my problem/question. I already have a great tan and I don't have any reactions when I have been in the sun. As a matter of fact I feel being outside and also in the sun actually helps me feel better.
19024797 tn?1471291132 m taking 6,000 IU of Vitamin D daily and have read many articles on how Magnesium and Vitamin K all work together in the process of absorbing Vitamin D and visa vera...but when my doctor but me on Vitamin D he didn't mention supplementing with Magnesium or Vitamin K. Do I really need to take all three? or can I just take Vitamin D?
