Avatar m tn For those of us taking coumadin monitoring our PT/INR (coumadin levels in the vernacular) is literally a life-or-death matter. My Dad passed away a year ago this June because he had a series of strokes due to NOT monitoring his levels (poor bugger loved salad). Unfortunately I have recently discovered that some "heart healthy" foods are really not so good for us on coumadin. Specifically cooking oils both the pourable kind and the stuff in the spray cans.
Avatar m tn Vitamin K is an essential vitamin but too much can be toxic to the liver. Vitamin K2 has shown more benefits to the liver, particularly in the area of fibrosis, also known as MK7, you can read more about it on the life extention web site. I think the verdict is out on whether this is a good thing or not for liver patients, and especially while on tx the risks may outweigh the benfit..
Avatar f tn Just got an email from the np that said she had talked to the doctor and wants to put me on Vitamin k 10 mg daily. I gave her the pharmacy number and asked her to send me the lab results. Still waiting to hear back. Have any of you had to do this before? What is the Vitamin k used for? Thanks!
Avatar m tn For instance, since it works by being a vitamin K antagonist, foods that contain vitamin K (like leafy greens) can lower your INR. Taking vitamin E or fish oil or aspirin could raise it, and make bleeding more likely.
Avatar n tn Instead try applying vitamin E or almond oil on the scar. You can also use skin creams containing vit C or K,alpha hydroxyl acids and kinetin. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Then, apply an eye cream that contains Retinol and vitamin K. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to prevent the vitamin deficiencies that can affect your skin’s appearance. Reducing your salt intake will also help improve the look of your skin. One treatment is to massage almond oil with honey around the eyes before going to bed. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn Iv been taking hair skin and nails vitamins through out my 2nd and this one pregnancy. My Dr okayed it. He did say you can take them but I doubt they work because vitamins can't help nails. Those have high levels of vitamin e. Also I do oil cleasing on my face and that too has vitamin e. You can check online and ask your dr. But Iv had no problems at.
Avatar n tn Try to avoid caffeine, because it promotes water retention and leads to the dryness of the eye. You should also apply almond oil or skin creams containing vitamin C or K, alpha hydroxyl acids and kinetin. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn Dear Reader, Dr. W. refers to Coumadin as one of the all-time worst "hangovers" from the "heyday" of patent medications: No matter how many alternatives there are for it, it just won't go away. Don't get me wrong: It certainly does its job, which is to thin the blood. But it creates quite a bit of collateral damage in the process.
Avatar f tn My brother says I should use Vaseline intestive repair dry skin tried on my face and didn’t cause any rashes I heard lots of other choices like vitamin e or coconut oil or olive oil but I want something that will hear it not make it worse cause already feels bad now please help me
Avatar f tn Fish oil, an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, may affect platelet aggregation and/or vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors. The exact mechanism of interaction is unknown and further tests may need to be done. Prior to taking any supplements, it is best that you discuss this with your attending physician for proper management. Take care and best regards.
Avatar n tn I used vitamin k , liquorice extract & aloe gel it work very well u bye *****
Avatar f tn I take 1 tablespoon of Carlson lemon flavor fish oil in the AM, 1 teaspoon in the afternoon and 1 tablespoon in the evening. Coumadin is one of the all-time worst "hangovers" from the "heyday" of patent medications: No matter how many alternatives there are for it, it just won't go away. It certainly thins the blood, but it does so by "poisoning and killing off" the vitamin K in your body.

Avatar f tn How do you feel about the vitamin K shot? Are you going to give it to your new born?
Avatar f tn I think those who are opposed to a vitamin K shot for baby should do more research. Vitamin K can prevent a bleeding disorder, not blood clotting. Vitamin K aids in the ability of blood to clot, which is why it is given to newborns as a preventative measure. A lactation consultant friend sent me a link to an article, which includes statistics, about this very debate. http://evidencebasedbirth.
Avatar m tn I have 2 blood disorders, Lupus Anticoagulant and Pro thrombin I had a brain operation just a year ago and I will have my right knee replaced this Aug. or Sept. I had 3 clots in my left lung and 1 in my right lung and when they put a filter in I had another clot. AS FOR COUMADIN!! I take 1 tablespoon of Carlson lemon flavor fish oil in the AM, 1 teaspoon in the afternoon and 1 tablespoon in the evening.
Avatar m tn Hello, Dark circles under the eyes are temporary and caused due to insomnia, smoking, a family history of dark circles, deficiency of vitamin K in diet, allergies like sinusitis and eczema, and adrenal gland disorders. Take rest adequately and eat healthy nutritious food containing lots of green vegetables. Try to avoid caffeine, because it promotes water retention and leads to the dryness of the eye.
476246 tn?1418870914 Having a low coagulation factor, I gave my extra vitamin E to my girls.... I have started on a daily vitamin K for that, too. I know E and K where both in the study you posted. But being a woman, having a low coagulation factor is really a monthly big drag. Scary... Anyway, supplementing a deficiency is not the same as taking extra, when you have enough. All the supplements I have now lined up and started taking are moderate amounts, so I'm sure they will not interfere with treatment.
Avatar n tn t work for you, there are non-hormonal vaginal moisturizers that may help with regular application, such as K-Y Liquibeads or Replens. Some people also have success from olive or coconut oil, Vitamin E, nearly pure Aloe Vera, Sylk, or Corn Huskers Lotion. Best wishes...
Avatar m tn on this diet you can make vitd25oh over 100ng/ml another way to keep balance is to take d3plus from biotech which has vitamin k which takes calcium out of blood and fix it to bones.
612551 tn?1450022175 I noticed that the main oil used is canola, which is high in vitamin K. Also, Pam, a spray oil I use in cooking is made from canola oil. These may be small things, but perhaps cumulative. I like your reasoning about the relative risk. I get a little frantic when my numbers don't line up. I like being right in the middle 2.4 or 2.5, that way I figure if I eat a little too much lettuce or too little of the vitamin k foods, it won't matter.
