Avatar f tn Everything you need is in the prenatal vitamin. It also helps with your nails. Trust me your hair will grow quicker than normal during pregnancy. And as long as you take your vitamins you'll see a difference. But don't freak out if it's not growing as fast as you'd like.
Avatar f tn Well i've only got 28 days until my little man is due (yay!), and i'm wanting to continue to take my over the counter prenatal vitamin after birth. I was wondering if that was safe? Or if it'll still give my hair and nails the same awesome effect with growth... I don't see why it wouldn't be safe, seeing as how it's a vitamin, but i'm just curious.
Avatar n tn Hello, I really want to grow my hair long but I don't want to take any vitamin supplements orally because of fear of side effects. I purchased biotin 5000mg, nacin, msm 1000mg, vitamin E oil and 8 oz of coconut oil. I grounded each tablets and mixed it with coconut oil. I apply this mixer on my scalp once a week. My question is am I being smart? What are the side effects of applying this supplements directly on my scalp? Should I be careful about using msm or nacin on my scalp?
Avatar m tn High contents of: Calcium: High calcium usually indicates depletion of calcium and deposition into hair.bio-unavailability of calcium might affect cell renewal cycle and cause hair loss or disturbed hair growth. Magnesium: High magnesium level in the hair denotes loss of magnesium through hair resulting in deficiency symptoms like depression and hyper irrritibality. This depression might interrupt with the cell renewal process in the follicle leading to hair loss.
Avatar m tn Does Arimidex effect hair growth? I finished chemotherapy on August 24 and my hair has not quite grown in yet.
Avatar m tn Vitamin K is an essential vitamin but too much can be toxic to the liver. Vitamin K2 has shown more benefits to the liver, particularly in the area of fibrosis, also known as MK7, you can read more about it on the life extention web site. I think the verdict is out on whether this is a good thing or not for liver patients, and especially while on tx the risks may outweigh the benfit..
Avatar f tn Just got an email from the np that said she had talked to the doctor and wants to put me on Vitamin k 10 mg daily. I gave her the pharmacy number and asked her to send me the lab results. Still waiting to hear back. Have any of you had to do this before? What is the Vitamin k used for? Thanks!
Avatar m tn What do you think about the idea that if you increase cell turnover (with retin A, tretinoin) and exfoliate with special face washes, can that help prevent ingrown hairs. I don't have acne on areas on my face with no hair growth. The places I get acne is due to ingrown hairs mostly.
Avatar f tn Telogen effluvium during medications are common, but hair growth is replenished in time. The thing to look out is Iron deficiency, and hypothyroidism.
757137 tn?1347196453 Advair has a steroid in it, which can cause hair growth, etc. I took Advair for my COPD briefly. I simply did not like the side effects that it seem to give me.
Avatar n tn A D K is a vitamin supplement fairly high in those vitamins. You may want to talk with a doctor about supplements like that before you take them. Those are fat soluble vitamins and we make them/store them so you can get too much. Have you been tested for gluten problems? Have you been tested for Hashi's? From your TSH and symptoms, sounds like you should be. You Also need free T 3 and 4 done. Many of your issues could resolve once your thyroid problem is diagnosed and treated properly.
Avatar n tn Hi there - I have IDC breast cancer and Crohn's and have had monthly B12 shots for some 25 yrs. Luckily, I didn't lose my hair when on FEC chemo for breast cancer,as I had the cold cap treatment alongside, but it thinned enough that I could see my scalp on top of my head. 30+ yrs of steroids has thinned my bones significantly, so I was prescribed a bisphosphonate (Alendronate) alongside calcium (Calcichew) and Vitamin D3. My hair is a lot thicker now.
1765695 tn?1313669583 From what I understand, these vitamins are good for healthy hair! Some of the healthy hair vitamins are as follows: 1. Vitamin A – This healthy sebum in the scalp. 2. Inositol – Vitamin keeps hair follicles healthy 6. Niacin (Vitamin B3) – Vitamin allows scalp blood circulation 7.
Avatar f tn How do you feel about the vitamin K shot? Are you going to give it to your new born?
Avatar f tn I think those who are opposed to a vitamin K shot for baby should do more research. Vitamin K can prevent a bleeding disorder, not blood clotting. Vitamin K aids in the ability of blood to clot, which is why it is given to newborns as a preventative measure. A lactation consultant friend sent me a link to an article, which includes statistics, about this very debate. http://evidencebasedbirth.
Avatar f tn So if you want to speed up your hair growth and thickness you should limit the intake of fat and salts. Selenium, zinc and magnesium are some of the minerals that your hair needs and also amino acids and vitamin E will help in growing hairs. You can regularly massage scalp with oil, use protein conditioner to avoid loss and help growing, prevent exposure in hot sun etc.
Avatar n tn t understand why I am gaining weight have excessive hair growth on my chin when my T4 is 12.86, TSH is 1.75 and Vitamin D is 71. I have had a cold nodule on my thyroid in 95 no longer cold, biopsy done normal. This is frustrating and I can't understand the weight gain and the hair. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Also my doctor put me on a great prenatal vitamin that helped with my hair loss and I started to have new growth. Soak with your doctor and see what he recommends. Could be a simple imbalance due to stress in itself or the cancer side effects.
613536 tn?1294238447 In pregnancy, almost 50% of women experience changes (spanning dryness, hair growth) and post-natal many women experience rapid hair loss (due to excess growth in pregnancy). Try a pregnancy hair specific hair care line. Nine Naturals has great pregnancy shampoo www.ninenaturals.com, I think Whole Foods has a few other good brands.
Avatar f tn Hair needs T4, because it lengthens the hair growth phase. [26] My Free T3 has been below range, mid-range, and over-range, but my hair was still not right at any of those levels. Only since adding T4 to get my Free T4 above mid-range (and lowering my desiccated dose) has both my hair texture and volume improved. It should be noted that hair loss is a symptom of both too much and too little thyroid.
214901 tn?1227567555 Just curious how many people out there that have suffered moderate-severe hairloss from hypothyroid have had a substantial hair regrowth. I lost over 1/4 of my hair and I am worried it will not grow back. I have heard synthroid can actually make you lose more!
Avatar f tn Hello, Until or unless the hair follicles have been damaged, they will grow back. To promote growth of eyebrows, just eat a healthy protein rich diet and take some multivitamin supplements for some days. The most important nutrients are biotin, silica, magnesium, sulfur, zinc, and vitamin B6. There are many eyebrow growth products in the market, but their efficacy has not been scientifically proven. Finally one can resort of hair transplantation also. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn my 8 years old daughter' eyebrow hair are falling slowly and there is no new growth in that area. This is happening with only one eyebrow. what should I do. I am worried.
Avatar m tn Are you on thyroid medicine? Do you have TSH, FT3, FT4 numbers and ranges? Would be helpful to see if that's the relation. I'm not sure, but I think I read someone helped their hair loss with vitamin A.
