338489 tn?1215558109 Although I am a big vitamin D supporter, the biggest problem with so much MS info in alternative medicine and various groups is that there are no double blind placebo controlled studies. With Ashton having a PH.D I am sure he is aware of that. Where are his "p" values???? Nothing he says or any of his other scientists for that matter can be proven to be statistically significant. There in lies the problem with the general population jumping onto these principles.
Avatar m tn I had a followup neurology appointment today. They told me that I had low vitamin D levels and that could cause some of my problems. Just last week my rheumatologist said my calcium was low. Last year my B6 was high and was told I'm pre-diabetic. Give all of the strange vitamin levels it could explain just about everything I've been going through with the muscle/nerve symptoms.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the input. I don't know anything about Celiac, so this is helpful. My dr did test me for celiac and I will be getting those results on tuesday. I will keep you posted. She did test me for thyroid dysfunction also, not sure how gastro issues come into play there, but that would explain tremors and weight loss.
1548028 tn?1324612446 MSF is a great group and very solid information comes from them. I imagine you might have been on their website at sometime and entered your request for information - I don't think they randomly send information unless it is asked for. My Vit D was tested during my intial bloodwork looking for my DX. If I remember right, my count was in the low 20's,low but not dangerously so.
Avatar n tn is there a natural vitamin that can be taken to help with change of life symptoms after a hysterectomy?

Avatar f tn It does take some time to find an optimal level where you are less symptomatic, ask your MD to do a Vitamin D and B tests, many Thyroid sufferers also have an absorption issue with D and B, and a lack of these can make symptoms worse, also try taking Magnesium Glycinate 400mg per day, but take it at least four hours after your thyroid medication. The fact that your MD added the Free T3 and Free T4 shows he is a little sharper than most who only test and treat by TSH levels.
Avatar m tn Thank you Stef2011 for your unlimited useful information. I got my Vitamin levels tested and they are really low, only 25 ng/ml. (insufficient is <20; suboptimal 20-29 ng/ml). Also, my SGOT and SGPT are normal now, as well as my bilirubin, so I'm glad that I didn't accept taking Viread. Get tested for your Vitamin D levels, because my husband who doesn't have hepatitis B has only 17 ng/ml so it's even worse than me.
Avatar n tn s has nothing to do with the sun or a vitamin deficiency. It is just a normal thing that happens to people. Please, if you can respond and acknowledge that the input you had given on fordyce's perhaps could be inaccurate. I live in a very sunny area and don't want to be obsessing thinking the sun may make them worse, when I don't believe they do.
Avatar n tn Has anyone suffered vitamin B addiction. I was taking a nerve formula for neuropathy that had only B vitamins and upon trying to cut down on the dose I suffered extreme neuropathy pain as well as general body pain. I went back to my normal dosage and the symptoms went away. this happened twice and I am back on the B vitamin formula.

Also my stomach is still nauseated, not at all like it was but still there. Can some one please provide infor to me or am I going totally nuts still?

Avatar n tn Hello. I was diagnosed as being severely deficient in Vitamin D. My level was 9 (35 - 100). I have been taking D3, 5000 iu's for 6 weeks. My level is now 55, which is very good. My questions is: Do you know how much I would now take to maintain these levels? Obviously, the 5000 iu would be too much to continue taking. I also take a multivitamin which has 400 iu of vitamin D. Thank you.
1569985 tn?1328247482 Jerry -- glad your INR is back to normal. I think sometimes there are just flukes. Also, my Phillips meter says it's accurate within 3% either way. I don't know if that applies to the lab check. I like my INR to be right in the middle, then I don't have to worry about eating enough Vitamin K. or not. The Coumadin clinic at the Cardio practice I go to doesn't get too worked up if I am a little over or under 1.8 - 3.1 is okay with them.
643656 tn?1224321561 during my exploration over sites on the net i found this information that Vitamin E 600 is helpful to those who are suffering from the pain of Ovarian Cysts, like me..is it TRUE?..and how it does help? and more thing they said if you for surgery, after the opeartion there is a big possibilities that the Cysts might come/grow again? Avatar f tn Is it common for those with ms to have abnormally low levels of vitamin b12? I read that a vitamin b12 deficiency could mimic symptoms of ms but that doesn't explain remissions. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Yup, so do I (low ferritin due to anemia). Some people can tolerate over the counter Iron supplements, but for me, it's too harsh on the intestines. I'm a little confused when you said the dr. put you on Ferritin. Ferritin is a protein that stores iron and releases iron into the body as needed. So when say you have a CBC (blood panel taken) the Ferritin level along with the Hemoglobin, HCT, Red Blood Cell results will tell the Dr. if you are lacking Ferritin or have an excess.
397460 tn?1268533736 Hi, this could be either due to low calcium levels, vitamin B deficiency causing neuropathy for which you are already taking medications, thyroid disorder etc. Get blood calcium and other electrolyte levels done.
Avatar n tn Is there any type of vitamin available for neuropathy pain in the upper limbs? This discussion is related to Information on Cavernous Hemangioma.
972284 tn?1247905474 s newsletter that magnesium is necessary to synthesize vitamin D. I have seen a lot of information on the forum about how we need to supplement our magnesium as a treatment for FMS/CFS. And, most of us have had to deal with vitamin D deficiencies or imbalances.
98474 tn?1240105274 Just wanted to say Hi to all and let you know that after 2 months on vitamin b12, the overwhelming weakness in my legs is GONE after 6 years! The heat is not even making me feel weak! I am amazed and hopeful that this is indeed the main answer for my ms symptoms. I guess time will tell. If this is the result of my Mayo Clinic visit(they told me the b12 was not the total answer to my prob even tho they couldn't tell me what it was) then it was way worth it.
Avatar f tn I take a multivitamin and Vitamin D. None really help MS but your over all health. MSers are not immune to other health problems. It makes life easier if you have few health problems. That is why I am big on a good diet and exercise. When I was first diagnosed I felt these were things I could control. My doctor says I am the healthiest MS and Cancer patient she has seen. No one would know I have either. I also do mindfulness meditation.
