Avatar n tn I tested my vitamin D level. What do my results mean? I just picked the last two levels since the article is very long.... "My level is between 100-150 ng/ml Although these levels aren’t toxic and aren’t usually harmful, they are thought to be too high. There are no known benefits to having a vitamin D level over 100 ng/ml.
Avatar f tn Vitamin D has a number of cofactors and the most important are magnesium, vitamin K, zinc, boron and vitamin A. The Vitamin D council state optimal vitamin D [25(OH)D] levels should be between 50–80 ng/ml (125–200 nmol/L).
Avatar m tn My Vitamin D3 is 7.85 ng/ml ( which is very low ). As we don't have any expert Dr. here. Kindly suggest me: - May i take D3 Injections or - Tablets ? I have Rock - D 300 dietary supplement which contains Elementry calcium 1200 mg, Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 400 IU. Other Ingredients: Soyabean Oil, Glycerin,Gelatin, Soy Lecithin, Titanium Dioxide Color. If i go to tablets is it fine ? or injections ?
398059 tn?1447945633 Back when I first found out I had MS, I started taking Vitamin D3 because I read that is was the best form of the vitamin to be taking because it best mimiced the effect of the sun. Does anyone here happen to know if this really an issue.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone I have got some vitamin D3 in a liquid form I'm just trying to workout what is the ideal amount to take for someone with chronic hep b its says for evey 0.5ml there is62.5 ug (its not actually a "u" looks like a "y" the wrong way around. I currently take Magnesium and calcium aswell. No probs with that but I have bought some liquid zinc can anyone give me a good idea how much is good for someone with hep B.
Avatar f tn I agree with the above posts.....my doc had me on 4,000IU when mine went low,,,I am on chemo right now and I am afraid the D might interfere with the meds so I bought a tanning bed for my home and this way I just have to sit under the light every other day and get 20,000IU real quick.
Avatar n tn You certainly can overdose on Vitamin D3, but just go get your levels checked by the doctor. It is a simple blood test easily done.
Avatar f tn The only blood test that can diagnose vitamin D deficiency is a 25-hydroxy-vitamin D (25 OH vitamin D). Unfortunately, some doctors are still ordering the wrong test, 1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin D. Magnesium is essential, you need to take it with your D3. Take D3 with some sort of fat (like coconut oil, avocado, peanut butter, etc. it helps D3 & K2 absorb). Take D3 in morning or afternoon. Not at night. It may keep you up.
233622 tn?1279334905 Yes, vitamin D3 levels are very important in MS. First, the role of D3 is to act like a hormone that modulates the immune system. Back in 1997, it was found that when mice were given D3, they did not develop the mouse model of MS. As studies have progressed, the evidence strongly points to the role of D3 in preventing MS. That seems to be the link in the statistics that show that there is less MS as you get closer to the equator.
Avatar m tn s storage. However 1,25 being an unstable molecule, the preferred test worldwide is Vitamin D3 as 25(OH) Vitamin D3.
Avatar f tn Your D3 is severely deficient. I was at 19ng/mL in September and will retest my blood in a few weeks. You can get D3 in a liquid if you don't like to swallow pills US lab range is 30-100ng/mL. You need to be above 50ng/mL. Anything below should be considered deficient. D and magnesium deficiency can cause depression, fatigue, anxiety, pain, brain fog, headache, eye sensitivity, etc.
Avatar f tn Just got more blood test results. Apparently I am low on Vitamin D. My neuro had tested for this awhile back, but my family doctor said we should do a different vitamin d test and it was sent to Mayo. Sure enough, it was low. I am suppossed to start taking D3. I'm still awaiting one more blood test...hopefully I know by the middle of next week.
15848200 tn?1456634289 Vitamin D2 causes the amyloid protein in your brain to clump together making it difficult to remove this build up of amyloid. This leads to loss of cognitive function and sets up the conditions for Alzheimer's disease progression. Vitamin D3 helps clear amyloid from the brain which aids in improving cognitive function. Keeping 25(OH)D3 levels at or above 50ng/ml [US] or 125nmol/l [UK] is an important factor in reversing cognitive decline.
Avatar m tn Three months ago I started daily regiment of vitamin D3 (8000 IU). The reason for that was a small spike in Hep B DNA value and recommendation of this forum. Heb B DNA values / ALT / AST October 2015 - DNA 40 IU/mL, ALT - 16, AST - 17 January 2016 - DNA 150 IU/mL, ALT - 17, AST - 21 After that started vitamin D3 (8000 IU / daily) / sorry no baseline results April 2016 - DNA 90 IU/mL, ALT - 17, AST - 13 VitD3 - 74.
Avatar f tn A thyroid specialist recommended it to me because he feels my dose of vitamin D 5400 IUs D3 daily is too high. (PremCal is 4000 D3 daily + calcium and magnesium in two tablets). My reservations about this cal-mag-D3 product is that the dose of magnesium is too low, the form of calcium is carbonate not citrate, and the D3 is in tablet not gel cap form. He did suggest that my D levels be monitored more regularly every 2-3 months so that I can stay on top of it which I think is good advice.
Avatar m tn Insofar as taking vitamin D3 supplements, my feeling is that you should have an inexpensive D3 level test performed before taking supplements. A so-called "normal" level is 30 on the test. 3000 IU per day is not excessively high. Patients are often given 50,000 IU in a once weekly supplement. Excess vitamin D3 can cause alterations in blood calcium, although that would be unlikely at the dose you have recommended. My guess is that the tiredness is related to the hepatitis.
2200173 tn?1339840159 I had severe magnesium deficiency and after 6 months taking 5000IU daily of vitamin D3, my vitamin D levels only rose from 12ng/mL to 16ng/mL (30nmol/L to 40nmol/L). My existing severe existing magnesium deficiency symptoms worsened as vitamin D "uses up" magnesium to convert to active vitamin D in the blood. I could not get my vitamin D or calcium levels up until i corrected my magnesium deficiency. A good tip is keep magnesium levels optimal!
Avatar f tn There are various possible scenarios including a genetic inability to process the vitamin. If you are taking vitamin D, make sure you are taking D3. Get plenty of sunlight. As to the muscle pain, that may or may not be related to the D3. My guess it involves a calcium-channel issue. That is most likely. There are all sorts of other possible causes. A glass of milk often helps, but apparently you are drinking plenty of milk. The information on the "pain" is insufficient.
