Common Questions and Answers about Vitamin d3 insomnia

vitamin

Avatar n tn It is a synthetic form of Vitamin D and is very difficult for the body to process. Vitamin D3 is a natural form of Vitamin D that can be fully absorbed by the body. 5000 IU would be good until you get back up to normal. Then you should continue to maintain it with a lower dosage.
Avatar f tn The adult Human skin can usually generate about 10 000 IU of Vitamin D3 after 15 mins in the summer sun (between 10am and 3pm), and 20 000 IU after 25 to 30 mins. Its a good thing you are taking D3, but you can easily increase the dosage to 10 000 IU per day. You cannot really overdose on Vitamin D3.
Avatar m tn Magnesium is beneficial as well and needed when taking Vitamin D3.
Avatar f tn Blood work to check Vitamin D3, magnesium, Vitamin B12, hemoglobin, ferritin. Deficiencies can cause anxiety, insomnia, depression, dizziness, fatigue, heart palpitations, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, muscle weakness, headaches, etc. Supplements can be purchased over the counter to correct deficiencies. (I've experienced what you describe and am currently taking supplements and I'm improving).

Avatar n tn I tested my vitamin D level. What do my results mean? I just picked the last two levels since the article is very long.... "My level is between 100-150 ng/ml Although these levels aren’t toxic and aren’t usually harmful, they are thought to be too high. There are no known benefits to having a vitamin D level over 100 ng/ml.

Avatar f tn Lately, we considered multiple doctors and made him go through a lot of tests (LFT, KFT, Ultrasound of abdomen region, blood tests, CECT, Vitamin B1 and Vitamin D3 test). Mostly all tests came out to be normal, else than Vitamin tests where his B12 is 240 and D3 is just 22. The doctor recommended giving him Calcerol (60,000 IU) every alternate day. But he still feels the same.
Avatar f tn I think I should give it some time, seeing that it takes a few weeks to see improvements. I also heard that Vitamin D3 is better to take compared to D2, but from what I understand D3 is not prescribed in such high doses. Maybe I'm supposed to take the D2 until my levels go up, then supplement afterwards with D3?
Avatar f tn My symptoms were similar to what others have posted such as severe insomnia, stomach issues, debilitating fatigue, muscle weakness, heavy eyelids, shortness of breath, sharp muscular pains, muscle twitches, brain fog, jitters, anxiety, depression, hair loss, hypoglycaemic like feeling, night sweats, balance issues, headaches and probably a whole host of other symptoms that I'm forgetting. I never felt so awful in all my life.
Avatar f tn They ran a bunch of tests and came back saying that my bloodwork was spectacular, except for a Vitamin D level of 16. They prescribed 50,000 iu a week of ergocalciferol for 8 weeks and said they'd retest my blood then. I took the first pill last Thursday and within a few hours felt awful. I had terrible insomnia, anxiety, etc. The dr. said not to take it for a couple of weeks and then try again and see if the same thing happens.
15848200 tn?1456634289 Vitamin D2 causes the amyloid protein in your brain to clump together making it difficult to remove this build up of amyloid. This leads to loss of cognitive function and sets up the conditions for Alzheimer's disease progression. Vitamin D3 helps clear amyloid from the brain which aids in improving cognitive function. Keeping 25(OH)D3 levels at or above 50ng/ml [US] or 125nmol/l [UK] is an important factor in reversing cognitive decline.
Avatar m tn i have been taking vitamin D supplements for a long time and several different brands including tablets and gelcaps and first isolated the weird symptoms i was having to vitamin D3 about a year ago symptoms appear 1hr or more after ingesting as little as 400IU of vitamin D - heart arrythmia, numbness of limbs, severe disorientation, nausea its so strong i literally cannot even go to sleep because i will keep waking up every half an hour and be VERY disoriented and confused pretty scary stuff,
Avatar f tn You need to take Magnesium Glycinate (more relaxing) or Magnesium Citrate (can cause loose stools) and Vitamin K2 with the D3 or you can have other symptoms. Magnesium calms nerves and K2 moves calcium around do its not deposited into your arteries. Don't take calcium or dairy at same time you take magnesium because they compete to absorb. Magnesium 200-400mg split the dose 1/2 in morning and 1/2 in afternoon. K2 100mcg.
Avatar f tn I went back to the psychiatrist and showed him the results and asked me to stop all anti-anxiety and anti-depressants and start having Vitamin D supplement (10,000 UI D3 per day for a month, followed by 5,000 UI D3 FOREVER). The first week I felt 20% better, but I feel the fatigue and pain in my muscles, and sometime I feel down for no reason.
Avatar f tn The drug company studies suggested that a universe of people with idiopathic hypertension could control this with vitamin D3 and calcium supplements without other drugs. That does not mean that everyone with high blood pressure can lower it with these supplements. There is a genetic componant. In one test study 15-18 percent of the test subjects could significantly lower blood pressure with calcium and D3.
