Avatar f tn So I just started supplementing with 1000 iu of D3 (I have never heard of Vitamin D3, but this is the one that helps with depression, supposedly). The health food store lady was taking 2000 iu. But I thought I should start slowly. Anyone else try supplementing with D3 for their depression? I'm wondering how long it takes to see any results.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone is taking vitamin D3 to help with their anxiety or depression? I have heard lots of good things about it. I know I personally do not get out into the sun enough. I did start on 1000iu per day, but my chiro says to do 5000iu. He thinks it will work wonders on my anxiety. He's never steered me wrong before. Love this forum.
Avatar n tn I'm taking 1,000IU of vitamin D3 daily at my Endo's request. She was quite specific about D3, not any ohers. I'm also getting 800IU of vitamin Dsomething in my multivitamins. She doesn't know that, but I tested low on vitamin D after taking the multivitamins for a year so I figure her suggestion couldn't hurt. I haven't had any problems. Sorry to hear that you are. You need the vitamin D3. Read up on it. It does a few important things.
Avatar f tn Your D3 is severely deficient. I was at 19ng/mL in September and will retest my blood in a few weeks. You can get D3 in a liquid if you don't like to swallow pills US lab range is 30-100ng/mL. You need to be above 50ng/mL. Anything below should be considered deficient. D and magnesium deficiency can cause depression, fatigue, anxiety, pain, brain fog, headache, eye sensitivity, etc.

Avatar n tn I tested my vitamin D level. What do my results mean? I just picked the last two levels since the article is very long.... "My level is between 100-150 ng/ml Although these levels aren’t toxic and aren’t usually harmful, they are thought to be too high. There are no known benefits to having a vitamin D level over 100 ng/ml.

Avatar m tn Sometime mid July I started to take 10,000 IU of D3, 500mg of vitamin c, vitamin b6 (forgot the dose), 400mg of magnesium as magnesium oxide, and an omega 3 pill. I take all these daily. I have noticed a very slight change, but I still feel terrible. I am foggy all the time, I get lightheaded, tired, I have higher blood pressure, sometimes my joints ache, my memory has gotten sort of bad, and in general I just feel like I am out of touch with reality.
Avatar f tn Really? I didn't even know there was a Vitamin D3. What's the diff? Thanks for the tip!

15848200 tn?1456634289 Vitamin D2 causes the amyloid protein in your brain to clump together making it difficult to remove this build up of amyloid. This leads to loss of cognitive function and sets up the conditions for Alzheimer's disease progression. Vitamin D3 helps clear amyloid from the brain which aids in improving cognitive function. Keeping 25(OH)D3 levels at or above 50ng/ml [US] or 125nmol/l [UK] is an important factor in reversing cognitive decline.
Avatar m tn The RDA was miscalculated according to peer-review and needs to be closer to 10 000 IU daily (of vitamin D3). As for getting to sufficient levels, 20 000 IU is perfectly fine. It's quite safe to take long term even. But, personally, I'd take 20 000 IU daily for about 45 days and then reduce to 10 000 IU daily for maintenance.
Avatar f tn Since the calcium/vitamin D research was part of a longitudinal study of late-life depression, almost half the subjects had been diagnosed with depression. However, the presence or absence of depression also did not appear to influence of relationship between calcium, vitamin D, and brain lesions. In earlier studies, Dr.
Avatar f tn Try vitamin D3. Supplements are cheap and easy to get at Costco, Walmart etc. Check the vitamindcouncil.org for more info in the connection between D3 and depression. My family has seen a big difference for all of our medical issues including depression. It takes time to build up enough D. They only check is to have a blood test done for D3, not D2. Your levels should be in between 50 and 70 mgl. If you are getting bloodwork done anyway have them add the test. Good luck!
