Avatar f tn You should check your Vit D3 level. Test name is " 25OH Vitamin D3 " Depending on how low your vit d3 level is, you can take vit d3 5000iu or 10,000iu. I am on 8000 iu vit d3 at the moment. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn I tested my vitamin D level. What do my results mean? I just picked the last two levels since the article is very long.... "My level is between 100-150 ng/ml Although these levels aren’t toxic and aren’t usually harmful, they are thought to be too high. There are no known benefits to having a vitamin D level over 100 ng/ml.
Avatar m tn The multi vitamins I'm taking have vitamin D3 250% and magnesium 100 mg/25%. Do you think my body is having trouble absorbing the vitamin tablets, too or do I need to take them as a shot?

3221216 tn?1373640059 The research showed the various pathways that vitamin D3 uses, showing the antiviral properties of vitamin D3 particularly during interferon treatment. Researchers noted that vitamin D3 combined with interferon alfa has a synergistic relationship (the drug interactions are magnified, in this case in a beneficial way). Also noted was that vitamin D3 combined with interferon alfa decreases viral production more than interferon alfa without vitamin D3.
363281 tn?1643235611 For those that are wondering about the benefits and dosage of Vitamin D, here is an excellent video all about it. This man is extremely knowledgeable and does lectures for medical students. I think this will really help others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?
15848200 tn?1456634289 Vitamin D2 causes the amyloid protein in your brain to clump together making it difficult to remove this build up of amyloid. This leads to loss of cognitive function and sets up the conditions for Alzheimer's disease progression. Vitamin D3 helps clear amyloid from the brain which aids in improving cognitive function. Keeping 25(OH)D3 levels at or above 50ng/ml [US] or 125nmol/l [UK] is an important factor in reversing cognitive decline.
Avatar f tn I hope you were given Vitamin D3 and not D2. There were little to no health benefits observed from D2 (synthetic form), compared to D3. Also... make sure to modulate your diet with hard and soft cheese which are rich in Vitamin K2.
1319721 tn?1276040968 And I feel sorry for them, and really hope they would feel better. So this is just a friendly reminder for everyone to take their daily dose of vitamin D3. Also take a dose of calcium citrate plus magnesium because this aids in the absorption of vitamin D3. Good luck!
Avatar f tn In order to gain measurable benefits, you would need to supplement with Vitamin D3 and at least 10 000 IU of it per day. 10 000 IU of D3 is how much your skin can generate in 10 to 15 mins of sun exposure (that is if you expose a large portion of the skin to the sun without sunscreen such as the back in combination with legs and arms). Vitamin D2 is a synthetic form of the hormone in question and as such is not really good at providing same medical benefits like D3.
Avatar f tn I take reglan. It's the only thing that helps me. Tell your doc about the weight loss too. That's pretty severe.
299155 tn?1235489269 8 TSH 3rd gen. 0.82. I have been on synthroid 125 since September 07. I still have major hair loss, O weight loss, sluggishness, etc...... Propsed to the Dr that I go up slightly to 137 synthroid. What is your opinion? I have such a hard time understanding just where my TSH should be. Yes, it is well within my labs range yet I still feel horrible. Would the increase help? Thanks so much. I read the posts daily, you guys are great!!!!!
Avatar m tn one multi vitamin, 2 500mg of Vitamin C tablets (one in morning and one in evening), One Vitamin D3 tablet (5,000 I.U.), and One Vitamin B-Complex tablet...
Avatar f tn Actually there is no weight gain! That is one of the benefits of this medication b/c it is like cymbalta (sp?). For me there were some side effects, but they subsided after a week or so. I got a lot of hot flashes, but they are gone now.
Avatar f tn I agree with the above posts.....my doc had me on 4,000IU when mine went low,,,I am on chemo right now and I am afraid the D might interfere with the meds so I bought a tanning bed for my home and this way I just have to sit under the light every other day and get 20,000IU real quick.
944903 tn?1269268918 I take 2,000 IU of vitamin D (as vitamin D3). Earlier this year I was found to be very deficient in vitamin D, I went on a treatment of 20,000 IU for 2 months then I was put on 2,000 IU per day for the rest of my life. When I got pregnant I just kept taking the same amount. I have not discussed that with my gynecologist but my regular doctor told me it's very important for pregnant women to get enough vitamin D during pregnancy.
Avatar m tn You MUST take 1,000 mg of Vitamin K2 for every 10,000 IU of Vitamin D3. It is absolutely crucial that K2 is taken with high doses of Vitamin D3, becuase K2 prevents calcium from going into your soft tissue, and redirects it into your bones where it belongs. It is highly likely that you have a Vitamin D deficiency. Check with a doctor. It is unlikely that your poor vision is associated with the hair loss.
1532707 tn?1312155924 I do take it. When my attack began (end of May this year), my D level was pretty low: 25. The nurse practitioner I saw at the time had me take 50,000 IU weekly for three months. After that, my neuro said to take 2,000 IU daily. Not that we should consider her word the gospel truth, trust me. But I think most doctors recommend 1,000-2,000 IU daily.
