Vitamin b6 while pregnant

Common Questions and Answers about Vitamin b6 while pregnant

vitamin

Avatar f tn I started taking a 100 mg vitamin b6 supplement daily while trying to conceive in addition to my prenatal which also contains 15 mg of b6. I read that b6 helps increase your cervical mucus. I got pregnant the cycle I started taking the vitamin b6 supplement. Can I continue taking 115 mg of b6 now that I am pregnant or do I need to taper off or stop taking it altogether? I'm concerned about possible effects a high dosage of b6 has on pregnancy and developing baby.

689528 tn?1364135841 I haven't experienced morning sickness yet. (Fingers crossed I don't) At times I'll get like a hot spell and maybe feel a little nauseated but it never lasts longer than a minute. Anyway...was wondering if everyone takes extra vitamin B?! It's supposed to help and while TTC I started taking B50 complex and I am still continuing it. I think this may be why I don't feel sick.....LOL I'll keep ya updated though cuz I'll just be 5 weeks tomorrow!!
Avatar n tn No not true. Yes, you can eat mangoes while you're pregnant. Mangoes are rich in iron, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B6, potassium and folic acid which are all vital nutrients for your pregnancy. They are also rich in fibre, which can help prevent constipation and are a good source of energy and antioxidants.
Avatar n tn Hi, Regarding vitamin B6, a water soluble vitamin is essential for the normal and optimal functioning of the body. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is the average daily dietary intake level that is sufficient to meet the nutrient requirements. RDAs for vitamin B6 (in milligrams), are: 1.3 mg for men and women under age 50; 1.7 mg for men and 1.5 mg for women over the age of 50, 1.9 mg for pregnant women, and 2 mg for women who are breastfeeding.
730826 tn?1317943334 Has anyone taken vitamin B6 to help their metabolism to loose weight? And if so, did it work?
6534481 tn?1398018501 Yes! 50mg vitamin B6 with half a 25mg tablet of unisom every night before bed. By the second night I had relief and took it religiously up until 3rd trimester.

12618772 tn?1445214532 I'm usually extremely sick while pregnant I did some research and found that taking magnesium and b6 supplements will help me with this.So I started taking them and I haven't been sick at all only once before I started taking them. What do you ladies think about this and have u every tried or heard of this?
Avatar n tn The MTHFR gene is extremely common and can lead to a problem processing the B Vitamins, making people particularly susceptible to deficiency of B12, folic acid, and Vitamin B6. Ironically, in these cases, Vitamin B6 Levels and Vitamin B12 Levels will be HIGH, despite actually being a DEFICIENCY of these vitamins. This is because the vitamins build up in the bloodstream, where they are measured, but the vitamins can't get into the cells where they are needed.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if there is anything safe to take while pregnant for sleep? I'm in my 7th week and I'm so tired but cannot get any sleep, I'm up all night.
Avatar f tn When I got really ill last October I was pretty much taking my multi b (50mg b6) and multivitamin (25mg b6) every day up until I got my b6 result a couple of weeks ago. Reading up on B6 toxicity it certainly explain alot of my symptoms (especially the neuropathy, which I had nerve conduction test for about a month ago and came up normal!). My question is, is my level considered a b6 toxicity? Has anyone had similiar levels and recovered?
Avatar n tn It is recommended not to take any supplement of vitamin B6 and try not to eat large amounts of foods high in vitamin B6 at meals for 6 months. After 6 months suggest you only get Vitamin B6 from your food sources (no greater then 100mg a day) and not from supplementation.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 9w 4days along, and like most of you have bad nausea and vomiting. My doc gave some sapmle pills which didn't help at all, but she said Vitamin B6 helps too. I got the vitamin from Target up and up brand, but before taking it I read the label and it was saying that it's not intended for pregnant women, I am a little confused... I probably should trust my doc but I am a little afraid, maybe I should get different brand? I don't think the brand will change vitamin content...
Avatar f tn Vitamin B6 is found in a wide variety of foods, including: pork, poultry, such as chicken or turkey, fish, bread, wholegrain cereals, such as oatmeal, wheatgerm and brown rice, eggs, vegetable, soy beans, peanuts, milk, potatoes, some fortified breakfast cereals, etc. Not hard to find. But the issue here is usually supplementation, when someone is trying to treat some condition, such as mood problems. That's usually, absent a genetic problem, where people have the neuropathy problem.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies, I just got a BFP! I have been TTC for almost 5 yrs, 3 m/c's, and this is my 1st BFP in almost 2 yrs so I am SO excited!!! I have been taking CoEnzyme Q, extra B vitamins (200 mg B6, 100 mg other B's), and 400 mg Vit E in addition to PreNatals and baby aspirin while TTC. I'm not sure if I should stop or continue. Has anyone else taken these supplements, and did you stop when you got a BFP?
Avatar f tn I have been reading the posts on Vitamin b6 toxicity. I started having the pins and needles 6 months ago. My neurologist did a B6 test and my B^ level was 1400. I take no vitamins with b6 in them only Calcium and B3. I checked to make sure there was no B6. Since then it has fluxuated with the lowest being 285. I had a blood test last week and it is back up to 1000. Do you have any ideas of what to do next. My neurologist suggested that maybe I should see a endrocronologist.
10870053 tn?1416581194 What can you take for sickness while being pregnant ? My doctor put me on iron pills and they are making me very sick!! Idk what to do. Any advice???
Avatar f tn First thing you need to get is your pre-natal vitamins. That's a must have for pregnant women. It contains nutrition that we don't get everyday. I also take vitamin B6 once a day to help with the nausea. Here is a list of supplements my OB gave me. Check with your OB first before you take them.
Avatar n tn Has any moms taken unison for nausea/morning sickness?? I took a 50g (blue gel pill) my dr prescribed me. I never taken it before. I know it's safe to take while pregnant. I'm not a big fan of taking pills when pregnant BUT I have the worst morning sickness/nausea. It's horrible! I had a smooth pregnancy with my first baby (my 1 year old daughter) I'm 11 weeks pregnant. Also I'm so paranoid about my pregnancy. I'm scared something will go wrong.
Avatar f tn I read a lot about Vitamin B6 and how it can lengthen a short luteal phase, so I started taking 120 mg of B6 last cycle, midcycle. I was very happy to see that it actally worked. My luteal phase was 12 days that cycle (I am charting my BBT). This cycle however, I'm already 14 dpo and no sign of AF yet. I had AF-like cramping and pain around 11 and 12 dpo, but AF didn't show up. Now I have no symptoms at all, not of AF nor of pregnancy.
Avatar m tn You could avoid supplements that contain B6 and limit your intake of foods rich in vitamin B6, such as fortified cereal, bananas, salmon, turkey, chicken, potatoes, spinach and hazelnuts.
